Just feet from the shoreline, the little cabana on Lake Washington has an unexpected pastoral setting in the middle of a densely populated urban area.

Decorative steel bollard light- Aspen pattern Tree illumination was added to visually tie the landscaping and the home together. Accent lighting on waterfalls and accent walls extends the visual size of the home and adds warmth to the lighting scenes due to the soft wash of light on the warm beige stone. The low voltage, landscape lighting brings this lake home to life at night.

The design for this client’s “dream house on the water” capitalizes on every opportunity to incorporate views of the Long Island Sound within the home. The placement and expanse of the fir windows and sliding doors underscore the water’s proximity. The interior gathering space spills out onto the raised outdoor deck and lap pool overlooking the seawall. Reducing the house’s carbon footprint is another priority, accomplished by generating renewable energy on site. The precise angle of the house on the property is calculated for optimal solar energy production by the rooftop photovoltaic panels and a geothermal system installed under the driveway provides heating and cooling for the house.
Due to the fact that the site is located on a floodplain, the ground floor of the house is raised and no basement is allowed. This presents a challenge in terms of carving out enough storage space in the main house that one might normally relegate to a basement. Rooms are efficiently sized and serve multiple functions and storage is built-in wherever possible.

This is an example of a mid-sized traditional partial sun front yard mulch driveway.

Lighting on the home facing the lake was meant to create an impression on viewers from the lake towards this massive home. Landscape lighting below the home helps to visually tie the home to the lake. The home has a grand and welcoming entrance due to the warm accent lighting used throughout the entryway

Seaside seclusion- Outdoor Kitchen
Hamptons Fabulous Outdoor Kitchen Branford, Ct.
This french cozy cottage sits nestled by the Connecticut shoreline. A true stone master piece of architecture surely designed to live beyond the walls of your home outdoors. A major contribution to this seaside masterpiece is the two level outdoor fireplace. The local quarry stone cut in random chunks than particularly cut and fit in to make two outdoor fireplaces amongst this upper level outdoor courtyard. The lower level is raised up with arched stone walls just enough for a lower level outdoor fireplace under a romantic old gas lantern. The idyllic setting raised securely above the seawall to create just the right setting. A fabulous outdoor living space. Design ideas for a large traditional full sun backyard stone formal garden for summer.

The original house, built in the early 18th century, was moved to this location two hundred years later. This whole house project includes an outdoor stage, a library, two barns, an exercise complex and extensive landscaping with tennis court and pools.
A new stair winds upward to the study built as a widow's walk on the roof.
A large window provides a view to the sea-wall at the bottom of the garden and Buzzard's Bay beyond.
The new stair allows views from the central front hall into the Living Room, which spans the waterside.
The bluestone-edged swimming pool and hot pool merge with the landscape, creating the illusion that the pool and the sea are continuous.
