This beautiful mountain cabin has a big outdoor kitchen and dining area. Critters and flies were a concern so we enclosed the whole thing with stainless steel security screens. This tough screen is virtually impenetrable without power tools. It adds a lot of security to the home from burglars or bears! The screens are powder coated black and provide an excellent view through while providing some shade and glare reduction too!

If you like the look of having large windows in your entryway, but are concerned about your family's privacy, stained glass offers a solution. Notice how it's nearly impossible for someone outside of your home to see in through your windows. This privacy can create a sense of comfort and security for your family.

BC&J Architecture designed a floating home that is now located at its permanent location on the Willamette River in Portland. The home was constructed at a Marina an hour from the final home location. Upon completion, the home was floated up the Willamette River to the current site.
The homeowners were looking for a river side, cottage style house well suited to entertaining. At 2,100 square feet, the home has an open floor plan with a large kitchen opening to a dining room and the living room with views onto the river.
Upstairs, the master bedroom extends toward the river under a large centered dormer. On the opposite side of the master bedroom is a bonus room under a symmetrical dormer that will serve as guest quarters when adult children and grandchildren visit.

This modern home, near Cedar Lake, built in 1900, was originally a corner store. A massive conversion transformed the home into a spacious, multi-level residence in the 1990’s.
However, the home’s lot was unusually steep and overgrown with vegetation. In addition, there were concerns about soil erosion and water intrusion to the house. The homeowners wanted to resolve these issues and create a much more useable outdoor area for family and pets.
Castle, in conjunction with Field Outdoor Spaces, designed and built a large deck area in the back yard of the home, which includes a detached screen porch and a bar & grill area under a cedar pergola.
The previous, small deck was demolished and the sliding door replaced with a window. A new glass sliding door was inserted along a perpendicular wall to connect the home’s interior kitchen to the backyard oasis.
The screen house doors are made from six custom screen panels, attached to a top mount, soft-close track. Inside the screen porch, a patio heater allows the family to enjoy this space much of the year.
Concrete was the material chosen for the outdoor countertops, to ensure it lasts several years in Minnesota’s always-changing climate.
Trex decking was used throughout, along with red cedar porch, pergola and privacy lattice detailing.
The front entry of the home was also updated to include a large, open porch with access to the newly landscaped yard. Cable railings from Loftus Iron add to the contemporary style of the home, including a gate feature at the top of the front steps to contain the family pets when they’re let out into the yard.

Gary Duff Designs transformed this tiny hilltop spot into a spacious, state-of-the-art aquatic retreat. A new swimming pool was installed with an adjacent hot tub – the two connected by a sheer descent waterfall. In order to address concerns over erosion and drainage, the team built a secure boulder retaining wall on the back-end of the property to help sure up the ground. Calming, chic gray tones were used on the pool patios and walkways in order to match the blue siding of the home.
