Mountain Modern Kitchen Design – New Construction Kitchen in Arcadia While relocating to OKC from the mountains of Colorado, our homeowners found a house under construction in Arcadia that they loved, but they were not thrilled with the kitchen or bathrooms that the builder was creating, nor the quality of the cabinetry that was planned. In searching for a better kitchen layout, they came across us. Brenda and Megan redesigned every room in the home that required cabinetry, beginning with the kitchen. The architect had created a smaller space where the site line allowed you to see directly through the kitchen to the garage door. Not pretty. Since the home was still being framed when they brought us in, we redesigned the kitchen layout to extend the range wall to hide this unsightly garage door. This added the extra benefit of allowing us to create a larger pantry behind that wall as well. As our clients love Mountain Modern design, we selected a slab door set on frameless cabinets to provide maximum functionality with a modern feel. We highlighted the Mountain Modern design theme by using our grain-matched walnut for all cabinets. They are also huge fans of daily coffee, so we created a coffee and beverage bar to prepare drinks to their liking – again utilizing our grain matched walnut frameless cabinetry. The counters we selected echo the Mountain Modern design, even for Oklahoma City, by providing strong veining with color throughout. Note the floating shelves left of the microwave – we continued the veining on the countertop material placed within the floating shelves to mimic the gran match cabinetry! From a functional design perspective, we installed several pull-out accessory drawers, many base drawers, and a mixer lift station to help with the heavy lifting. In the island we placed a Galley Workstation sink with the Galley Tap to provide a space for meal prep and serve. The design was completed with careful installation of puck lighting, strip lighting, and sconces flanking the venthood, set atop more of this beautiful countertop material used as the backsplash. The result? Our clients were, and are, thrilled in their new kitchen. As you can see, this kitchen was selected for the cover of the National Kitchen and Bath Magazine, issued and shown at the National Kitchen and Bath Show – KBIS – in Las Vegas! We are honored to have been selected for this tremendous achievement!

Our customer, in Newtown, PA, just removed all of the wall-paper left from the prior owner of their home, repainted the walls in Aqua-tint colors; removed all of the wall-to-wall carpeting in the first floor; installed custom hardwood flooring; selected a Henkel-Harris dining room suite from Stenella Antiques in Perkasie, PA; and decided that the next step in redecorating their Williamsburg style home was selection of fine hand-knotted oriental rugs for the living room and dining room. The rugs now provide the color palette for upholstery and window-treatment fabric choices. Having ruled out machine-made or tufted rugs for their premium makeover, they selected two finely detailed hand-knotted reproduction Persian Ferrahan design rugs made in India that complement one another across the entry hall by reversing the respective background and border colors. While much had been accomplished in the home prior to Brandon Oriental Rugs being invited to assist in the project, with the selection of their fine quality rugs the homeowners are well on their way to realization of their dream home.

An Arts & Crafts Bungalow is one of my favorite styles of homes. We have quite a few of them in our Stockton Mid-Town area. And when C&L called us to help them remodel their 1923 American Bungalow, I was beyond thrilled. As per usual, when we get a new inquiry, we quickly Google the project location while we are talking to you on the phone. My excitement escalated when I saw the Google Earth Image of the sweet Sage Green bungalow in Mid-Town Stockton. "Yes, we would be interested in working with you," I said trying to keep my cool. But what made it even better was meeting C&L and touring their home, because they are the nicest young couple, eager to make their home period perfect. Unfortunately, it had been slightly molested by some bad house-flippers, and we needed to bring the bathroom back to it "roots." We knew we had to banish the hideous brown tile and cheap vanity quickly. But C&L complained about the condensation problems and the constant fight with mold. This immediately told me that improper remodeling had occurred and we needed to remedy that right away. The Before: Frustrations with a Botched Remodel The bathroom needed to be brought back to period appropriate design with all the functionality of a modern bathroom. We thought of things like marble countertop, white mosaic floor tiles, white subway tile, board and batten molding, and of course a fabulous wallpaper. This small (and only) bathroom on a tight budget required a little bit of design sleuthing to figure out how we could get the proper look and feel. Our goal was to determine where to splurge and where to economize and how to complete the remodel as quickly as possible because C&L would have to move out while construction was going on. The Process: Hard Work to Remedy Design and Function During our initial design study, (which included 2 hours in the owners’ home), we noticed framed images of William Morris Arts and Crafts textile patterns and knew this would be our design inspiration. We presented C&L with three options and they quickly selected the Pimpernel Design Concept. We had originally selected the Black and Olive colors with a black vanity, mirror, and black and white floor tile. C&L liked it but weren’t quite sure about the black, We went back to the drawing board and decided the William & Co Pimpernel Wallpaper in Bayleaf and Manilla color with a softer gray painted vanity and mirror and white floor tile was more to their liking. After the Design Concept was approved, we went to work securing the building permit, procuring all the elements, and scheduling our trusted tradesmen to perform the work. We did uncover some shoddy work by the flippers such as live electrical wires hidden behind the wall, plumbing venting cut-off and buried in the walls (hence the constant dampness), the tub barely balancing on two fence boards across the floor joist, and no insulation on the exterior wall. All of the previous blunders were fixed and the bathroom put back to its previous glory. We could feel the house thanking us for making it pretty again. The After Reveal: Cohesive Design Decisions We selected a simple white subway tile for the tub/shower. This is always classic and in keeping with the style of the house. We selected a pre-fab vanity and mirror, but they look rich with the quartz countertop. There is much more storage in this small vanity than you would think. The Transformation: A Period Perfect Refresh We began the remodel just as the pandemic reared and stay-in-place orders went into effect. As C&L were already moved out and living with relatives, we got the go-ahead from city officials to get the work done (after all, how can you shelter in place without a bathroom?). All our tradesmen were scheduled to work so that only one crew was on the job site at a time. We stayed on the original schedule with only a one week delay. The end result is the sweetest little bathroom I've ever seen (and I can't wait to start work on C&L's kitchen next). Thank you for joining me in this project transformation. All of the finishes, selections, features and design detail was specified and carefully selected by Build Prestige Homes in consultation with our client to curate a timeless, relaxed elegance throughout this home and property. Build Prestige Homes oriented and designed the home to ensure the main living area, kitchen, covered alfresco areas and master bedroom benefitted from the warm, beautiful morning sun and ideal aspects of the property. Build Prestige Homes detailed and specified expansive, high quality timber bi-fold doors and windows to take advantage of the property including the views across the manicured grass and gardens facing towards the resort sized pool, guest house and pool house. The guest and pool house are easily accessible by the main residence via a covered walkway, but far enough away to provide privacy. All of the internal and external finishes were selected by Build Prestige Homes to compliment the classic American aesthetic of the home. Natural, granite stone walls was used throughout the landscape design and to external feature walls of the home, pool house fireplace and chimney, property boundary gates and outdoor living areas. Natural limestone floor tiles in a subtle caramel tone were laid in a modular pattern and professionally sealed for a durable, classic, timeless appeal. Clay roof tiles with a flat profile were selected for their simplicity and elegance in a modern slate colour. Linea fibre cement cladding weather board combined with fibre cement accent trims was used on the external walls and around the windows and doors as it provides distinctive charm from the deep shadow of the linea. Custom designed and hand carved arbours with beautiful, classic curved rafters ends was installed off the formal living area and guest house. The quality timber windows and doors have all been painted white and feature traditional style glazing bars to suit the style of home. The Estate has been planned and designed to meet the needs of a growing family across multiple generations who regularly host great family gatherings. As the overall design, liveability, orientation, accessibility, innovative technology and timeless appeal have been considered and maximised, the Estate will be a place for this family to call home for decades to come.

Home Office in Bronco | Key Feature: A Scottsdale new-build rooted in sculptural modernism, Bronco Revival balances bold black-and-white contrast with organic textures, natural wood elements, and statement lighting. As a groundbreaking “Live Lab” designer residence, it’s a first-of-its-kind space where luxury furnishings are tested in real-world conditions before being introduced into high-profile client homes. Challenge: Because Bronco Revival was the designer’s personal residence, the project carried a unique level of pressure and intention. The challenge was creating a Scottsdale new-build that felt elevated and editorial while still functioning as a true family home. Every selection had to balance bold sculptural modernism (high contrast, statement lighting, architectural furnishings) with durability, comfort, and day-to-day livability. In addition, the home served as a “Live Lab,” meaning new vendors, materials, and luxury furnishings needed to be tested in real-life conditions before being trusted for future high-profile client projects. Solution: We approached the project with a highly curated, test-and-refine design strategy, treating each space as both a finished interior and a real-world evaluation environment. Key furnishings, textiles, and materials were selected to support the modern organic vision while also standing up to the demands of everyday family life.
