A clever combination of glass with faux leather upholstery, play well against gleaming chrome. The Alina Dining Table Set is made to set a truly stylish statement. The extendable dining table features a super white Starphire glass top, a set of self-storing leaves, and chic sloping chrome legs. Matching chairs give nod to mid-century modernism, with a cantilevered chrome base, combined with a stitched back design over white faux leather upholstery.

Clever interior design and impeccable craftsmanship were integral to this project, as we added a 10x10 addition to square up the back of the home, and turned a series of divided spaces into an open-concept plan.
The homeowners wanted a big kitchen with an island large enough for their entire family, and an adjacent informal space to encourage time spent together. Custom built-ins help keep their TV, desk, and large book and game collections tidy.
Upstairs, we reorganized the second and third stories to add privacy for the parents and independence for their growing kids. The new third floor master bedroom includes an ensuite and reading corner. The three kids now have their bedrooms together on the second floor, with an updated bathroom and a “secret” passageway between their closets!

This craftsman style kitchen design is the perfect combination of form and function. With a custom designed hutch and eat-in kitchen island featuring a CraftArt wood tabletop, the kitchen is the perfect place for family and friends to gather. The wood tone of the Medallion cabinetry contrasts beautifully with the dark Cambria quartz countertop and slate backsplash, but it is the excellent storage accessories inside these cabinets that really set this design apart. From tray dividers to magic corner pull-outs, this kitchen keeps clutter at bay and lets the design shine through.

Notice the clever use of dark and light quartz countertops to visually connect the tiered and non-tiered islands.

Using the swing to anchor to the porch felt right for this long space. We really had fun with mixing different patterns and textures in blue and white and a pop of color with the orange accent pillow.

This custom-made dining table expands to accommodate seating for the entire family and cleverly folds away. Energy efficient LED tape light run the length of this 25' tube as the shimmer screen curtains provide a bit of separation to the adjoining bedroom. Horizontally striped carpet tiles offer the illusion of a wider room while a few bright place settings and pillows bring the perfect amount of color.

It was also important for the white IKEA kitchen to have plenty of storage.
“This is a dining room/kitchen combination room, so we wanted to make sure there was ample room for both dining and cooking activities,” he says.
Therefore, featured throughout the kitchen in both the upper and base cabinetry is IKEA VEDDINGE cabinetry in white along with IKEA MAXIMERA drawers and IKEA UTRUSTA door fronts.
Combined with the stainless steel appliances, this creates a light yet warm feel; especially when set against the IKEA KASKER countertops in custom light gray with sleek concrete effect.
From a functional standpoint, there is enormous storage potential throughout.
There is storage above the refrigerator and along the upper perimeter to the electric range and accompanying range hood, and then on the opposite side as well. There is even a small, three-drawer base cabinet on the opposite side of the stainless steel refrigerator.
One standout element of the space is a clever IKEA “hack” using IKEA cabinetry retrofitted to conceal a washer-dryer combo set.
Justin notes this was originally the biggest obstacle of the kitchen design.
He explains: “We thought a washer/dryer was essential to the space, but we were really struggling with where exactly to put it and how to conceal it so that you weren’t staring at your laundry while eating breakfast.”
In addition, the type of cabinet needed was not a cabinet that IKEA standardly offers, so IKD came up with an IKEA hack that was both functional and stylish.
Specifically, the 80”(H) IKEA VEDDINGE cabinetry allows the washer-dryer to seamlessly blend into the layout; which maximizes the kitchen space.
Justin concludes: “We chose IKEA because IKEA’s price point is unbeatable for the quality. We liked that IKEA offered versatility and ease and we really liked that there is a whole industry of professionals that only deal with IKEA products. So they know precisely how to design for IKEA cabinets and build IKEA cabinets, etc.”
Having experienced the IKEA design and installation process, Justin shares some advice with other IKEA customers.
“I would recommend that folks not try to do everything themselves, such as design, demo, shop and build. Designing a kitchen is a lot of work. If you can afford it: seek assistance,” he says.
“We would also recommend using experienced installers who know IKEA cabinets in and out and can help with the details of your kitchen that make it look polished and complete. They also save time.”
To that end, since it was a rental their timeline for the IKEA kitchen to be completed was very tight.
“Our IKEA kitchen wasn’t a project we wanted stretched over six months. We wanted the whole project finished in several weeks [and we accomplished it],” he concludes.

Whole-house remodel of a hillside home in Seattle. The historically-significant ballroom was repurposed as a family/music room, and the once-small kitchen and adjacent spaces were combined to create an open area for cooking and gathering.
A compact master bath was reconfigured to maximize the use of space, and a new main floor powder room provides knee space for accessibility.
Built-in cabinets provide much-needed coat & shoe storage close to the front door.
