The large paver patio creates an outdoor living area with several areas in which to relax or entertain friends and family. The first area includes patio furniture and a fire pit located close to the sunroom. From there, a walkway leads to the largest pool we’ve designed and built to date! The paver field is Techo-Bloc Blu 60 in Champlain Gray and the paver border is Unilock Copthorne in Basalt in a double sailor row. While the pavers are from two different vendors, they look beautiful together and bring out the look that the family was looking for. Copings for this project include Blockhouse in Limestone for the knee walls/pillars and Blockhouse Single Bullnose in Limestone for the pool and spa. Given the very limited size of the plot, the most immediate decision would have been to build vertically in order to free up space for a garden. However, the chosen approach was to occupy the entire plot with an extensive single-storey volume, connected to the exterior in two distinct ways, through two outdoor spaces of different character. On one hand, a perimeter garden acts as a filter or boundary between the house and the avenue and surrounding streets. On the other, a central circular courtyard becomes the main outdoor space of the house, organizing the entire program around it. In one direction, this courtyard gathers the more public and open areas of the house, creating a sequence of indoor and outdoor spaces that begins and ends in the perimeter garden. This sequence is materialized through four glass boundaries that can be fully retracted along the side walls. This operation allows for the perception of a hybrid space that spans from one end of the plot to the other, ultimately becoming the largest open space achievable on the property, not only visually but also physically.

The IC collection is a series of fixtures designed to complement the original, award winning 72" Belle pendant. All are spun from heavy gauge steel with various hand-applied finishes available for the interior and exterior. You can choose a blackened steel exterior with a metallic leaf interior for an industrial chic aesthetic or a single color, or a powder coat paint finish for a more minimal modernist touch. The IC collection is Fire Farm’s largest collection of lighting and furnishings to date. Companion pieces to the pendants include seating, wall sconces, and accessory items. SCOTT sconces extend the IC aesthetic to the wall. Like the BELLE pendants and OTTO ottoman, the sconces are made from steel finished with a dark coating; custom finishes for the exterior are also available. The sconces come in four different heights and can be easily mixed and matched to create interesting arrangements and patterns. All sconces meet ADA extension requirements. The A7 Series aluminum windows with triple-pane glazing were paired with custom-designed Ultra Lift and Slide doors to provide comfort, efficiency, and seamless design integration of fenestration products. Triple pane glazing units with high-performance spacers, low iron glass, multiple air seals, and a continuous thermal break make these windows and doors incomparable to the traditional aluminum window and door products of the past. Not to mention – these large-scale sliding doors have been fitted with motors hidden in the ceiling, which allow the doors to open flush into wall pockets at the press of a button. This seamless aluminum door system is a true custom solution for a homeowner that wanted the largest expanses of glass possible to disappear from sight with minimal effort. The enormous doors slide completely out of view, allowing the interior and exterior to blur into a single living space. By integrating the ultra-modern desert home into the surrounding landscape, this residence is able to adapt and evolve as the seasons change – providing a comfortable, beautiful, and luxurious environment all year long.

This charming cape located in Bonnet Shores, Narragansett, RI was in need of updating and adding to in support of this five person family. We approached this project with an attitude of creating a comfortable, small scale addition / renovation that would not overwhelm the area. We instead created an addition that has a great amount of detail and functionality while adding just the right amount of space for everyone in the family. As this is a vacation home located by the ocean; we wanted to create enough space for entertaining and the flow of the living areas was an important consideration. The entertainment room is small enough for movie watching, the living room is spacious enough for entertaining or curling up with a book, the sun porch is perfectly positioned to capture the sun’s rays while offering views to the private beach club. The family can go easily from the enlarged kitchen to the screened porch with views to the private beach to the southwest and to the Jamestown bridge to the northeast. The bedrooms are spacious enough for each family member with one doubling as a comfortable guest suite. The master bedroom suite offers the same views to the southwest and northeast, appreciating the views to the beach club and Jamestown Bridge. The evening views from the master offer the Jamestown Bridge fully lit in spectacular glory. We outfitted the master with a second floor balcony space to the southwest that serves perfectly for morning coffee or evening cocktails. This home exemplifies how we approach our designs. We did not simply want to add large spaces for the sake of additional living area. We wanted to provide a comfortable environment for this family and offer the detail that maintains the character of the existing cape charm without overdeveloping the site, which is the largest parcel in Bonnet Shores.
