Our clients, a vibrant young family with two energetic kids and a playful dog, were feeling the constraints of their outdated, cramped house. The Main Floor was divided by walls, fragmenting the Kitchen, Dining Room, and living areas, making family time and entertaining a bit of a struggle. The Kitchen was small and dim, lacking counter space and storage. The kids' study/play table was squeezed into a tight corner, emphasizing the lack of space. The dark hardwood floors were scratched and worn, and the foyer felt cramped and uninviting. The powder room was also The idea of a major renovation brought both excitement and a bit of anxiety. The couple was unsure about design decisions and worried about the challenges of dealing with structural columns and beams. Collaborating with Sosna designer Camila, the family embarked on a journey to transform their outdated house into a bright, functional home. To open up the space, walls were removed, creating a seamless flow between the foyer, living room, dining room, and kitchen. The kitchen was relocated and expanded to include generous counter space and a large island, providing the ideal spot for the kids to help prepare meals—a task they’ve come to enjoy since the renovation—or work on their homework. Additionally, the addition of a cozy window bench offers extra seating for hanging out with the family. It’s also the perfect place to curl up with a good book. The once dark and gloomy powder room was completely refreshed with new fixtures, a white oak vanity, and beautiful floor tiles, which significantly brightened it up. Additionally, the dark hardwood floors were replaced with a lighter, more modern option, brightening the entire main floor. The renovation wasn't without its hiccups. A mix-up with the hardwood flooring led to a last-minute scramble for a replacement. But in the end, the family fell in love with the new flooring, proving that sometimes unexpected changes can lead to even better outcomes. The renovation completely transformed the home. What was once a cramped and segmented main floor is now a bright, open space perfectly suited to the family's lifestyle. The new kitchen island became the heart of the home, providing a place for the kids to do homework while their parents cooked, fostering a sense of togetherness. The open layout also made hosting gatherings effortless. Throughout the renovation, the kids and their dog brought a playful energy to the construction site, forming a special bond with the crew. Despite the challenges of living through a renovation, the family managed to maintain a sense of normalcy, working from home when possible and appreciating the crew's efforts to keep things tidy. MHG Greens&Gardens design a new garden reflecting those she saw in that far land. She had bought a Buddha, but not an ordinary Buddha, but the “Enchanting Buddha”, and now it needs a special place. Her home a contemporary architectural design with simple lines, open, with large windows and an asymmetrical structure, a characteristic of this design and ideally for an oriental them garden. Contemporary homes saw their peak of popularity in the 1990s in Puerto Rico, nonetheless are still being built today. The front yard needs enhancing, and it had to be the outline for the new theme, contemporary Asian. The home entrance, as well as the Travertine steps was flanked with rain forest gray rocks intercalated with yellow iris and Billbergia pyramidalis bromeliads. The door step treasured a gray industrial finish “Cono Alto” planter with dark green Sansevieria. On the entrance platform, right hand’s areas, a mixture of bright color were used as the focal point with a assortment mixture of Bromeliad Neoregelia Voodoo Doll, Bromeliad Neoregelia Puppy Love, Neoregelia spectabilis and Rhoeo Stripe Me Pink (Tradescantia Spathacea) Sanguinerias. The home’s front wall was lined with Breynia Nivosa, Dianella tasmanica variegata, and the Areca palm tree was garlanded with white Anthurium and in the long branches, red bromeliads. The cover patio side wall and all the way to edge of the swimming pool wall, was delineated with Snow Queen Variegated Hibiscus and ground covered with Rhoeo Purple Sanguinerias, in the wall’s center space Purple False Eranthemum Black Varnish and ground covered with Liriope muscari Variegata to complement both ends with Queen Variegated Hibiscus . The swimming pool was crowned with the “Enchanting Buddha” a 4.5 feet tall statue and the garden’s main character and the reason for the garden transformation. Two Eugenia Trees, Pom-Pom Topiary shaped were planted in two Chinese red bowl vases framing the Buddha. Two small red clay bowls placed in the ground, on the left side of the Buddha, one with Sedum rupestris lemon coral in a beautiful yellow and a second bowl with yellow Sansevieria The home owner said, “Now I get up earlier than ever before, I open the main building’s living room sliding doors overlooking the mountains and the horizon, pull up my comfort chair every morning before the rest of the family starts their day. Otherwise, I am not guaranteed to have the place to myself, it is a beautiful spiritual place, and is best discovered alone with my just brewed cup of Puerto Rican espresso”.

Dramatic Aeonium 'Sunburst' Succulent brightens up the planting bed along the pathway in this project which was designed to gain more usable space. This narrow landscape included an update to the hardscaping and overgrown garden. My design reconfigured the pathway with poured-in-place concrete pavers accented by Mexican pebbles and a stunning variety of succulents and other site-appropriate plantings that thrive in shade and part sun. We removed the tree to create a patio area large enough to fit a table and chairs for a small group. Non-invasive/clumping Bamboo was added to help screen the patio and provide privacy. Other shade to part-shade plants were included that provide a variety of textures and colors throughout the seasons. Low-voltage lighting was installed for safety and ambiance. The family's once-loved home had become a source of frustration. Their kitchen, a space meant for gathering and creating, felt cramped and outdated. Limited storage and poor organization made meal prep a tedious task, and entertaining guests a logistical nightmare. The laundry room, often overlooked, was equally problematic. Its cramped layout and lack of storage made laundry day a chore, and the noise of the washing machine echoed through the living room. To compound the issue, the absence of dedicated office spaces made working from home a constant struggle. One makeshift office was squeezed into the dining room, while another was relegated to the basement. The family was hesitant to embark on a major renovation, fearing the challenges and uncertainties that come with such a project. Finding a reliable contractor, ensuring timely completion, and worrying about potential shoddy workmanship were all valid concerns. We understood their anxieties and were committed to providing a smooth and stress-free experience. Our team crafted a design that addressed each of their concerns, transforming their home into a functional and stylish space. We reimagined the laundry room, creating a custom storage solution and incorporating a stackable washer and dryer. The open hallway to the living room was enclosed, creating a spacious closet with ample storage. The laundry room now seamlessly connected to the kitchen, simplifying the grocery unloading process. A former juliette balcony was converted into a dedicated office space, providing a peaceful and productive work-from-home environment. The dated and cluttered ensuite bathroom received a luxurious makeover. A clever pull-out storage system in the shower wall and a spacious niche provided much-needed organization. While every renovation project has its challenges, this one was remarkably smooth. The only significant hurdle was some additional structural work required in the basement to support the new office space. Our experienced team handled this efficiently, minimizing any disruption. The final result is a home that truly reflects the family's personality and lifestyle. The laundry room, now a cheerful and organized space with soft green cabinets, patterned floor tiles, and gold accents, showcases our attention to detail. The kitchen is a stunning centerpiece, featuring a striking combination of blue and white cabinets, dark hardwood floors, and a sleek white backsplash. The adjacent beverage bar, with its glass-fronted upper cabinets, provides an elegant space for entertaining. The ensuite bathroom is a spa-like retreat, with large-format marble tiles, a black vanity, and chrome fixtures creating an atmosphere of understated luxury. The renovation has had a profound impact on the family's daily life. Ample storage throughout the house has banished clutter, making it easier to maintain a tidy home. The seamless flow from the laundry room to the kitchen has streamlined the grocery unloading process, and the dedicated office spaces have transformed the work-from-home experience. Beyond the physical transformation, it was the shared moments and laughter that made this project truly special. The family's enthusiasm and good humor were contagious. One of the clients, with his big personality, even starred in a walk-through video of the finished project, showcasing his infectious joy. From choosing tiles to navigating unexpected challenges, the entire process was filled with warmth and collaboration. Even their four-year-old son, initially shy, warmed up to our site leader, Gus, nicknaming him "Gus the Bus," a moniker that endeared him to the entire team.

The faux bluestone steps lead up from the driveway and CST Pavers and Block wall were used to create built-in seating surrounding the fire pit and multiple areas to dine, entertain and relax.
