The original idea was to update the tile floor and the tub. That’s it. A further discussion of wants and needs revealed intentions for an eventual larger shower and an improved vanity storage. It made sense to map out the possibilities and design our update with potential next steps in mind. The process was exciting, ultimately leading to the decision to do a full primary bath remodel. Design Objectives: -Maintain existing locations for all major bathroom functions -Make the shower larger and more open -Use luxurious materials throughout -Improve vanity storage and define accessories for specific items -Incorporate luxury shower fixtures -Include the latest technology Design Challenges -Enlarging the shower in a typical rectangular shape would block the view and light from the alcove windows behind the tub -Logical placement of the built-in shower caddy and all shower components in accordance with how and where they were to be used -Keeping the long, back wall free from any shower modules to maintain the decorative tile design -Combining the owner’s existing smart home system with a comprehensive shower system -Planning cabinetry for hidden storage and use for various small appliances and make-up -Integrating expensive shower wall tile with less expensive wall tile for aesthetic and budget purposes -Incorporating special design features to balance the highly decorative shower tile Design solutions: -A clipped corner was planned for the shower bench seat – this allowed for a larger glass wall. The glass wall at the angled bench also brought more natural light into the shower -Thoughtful shower space design prevented the crowding of features – the shower caddy and handheld shower head were placed on the full-height wall by the shower bench, the regular shower head and body sprays remained on the opposite wall, and the rain head was placed in the center of the shower -A multi-port DTV system was installed, providing control of all shower components, including chromotherapy and music inside and outside the shower -The lavish water-jet stone and glass decorative tile was paired with a less-expensive glass tile found in the mosaic -Pull-out grooming organizers and electrical docking stations were incorporated into the cabinetry Additional storage was created in the lower corner cabinet The homeowners are thrilled with their new primary bathroom. Clear goals and carefully evaluated materials informed a fun and functional design that is both thoughtful and sumptuous!

The original kitchen had a dividing “wall” of cabinetry…that made the rather large space seem very small, and cut off the kitchen from the eating area that has a beautiful garden view completely hidden from the main kitchen. Circulation was poor, leaving family members on top of one another when entertaining family and friends. The new kitchen design nearly doubles the kitchen size within the original space; opening it up completely and enjoying an expansive island containing a new Kohler Whitehaven Smart Divide farm sink, a dishwasher, and pull out double trash receptacle. The great new gathering space accommodates four pull out stools beckoning grandchildren and friends alike. Removing the range from the island and relocating it to create a dramatic “feature” wall, completely out of the way of guests; it is now crowned with a beautiful completely customized wood hood designed to ventilate much more efficiently than the original island range containing a limited downdraft system. The much more efficient use of the space after removing a pantry closet made way for a fully functional “tall wall” housing a double oven and refrigerator, out of the way of guests. Removing the restrictive cabinetry wall now allowed for an expansive floor to ceiling pantry cabinet with full extension pull out shelving, and an elegant display area complete with a beautiful furniture detailed buffet. Fitting perfectly into the farmhouse charm of the old estate, Medallion Silver Lancaster cabinetry was chosen in a soft white Maple Divinity paint finish lining the perimeter. The stunning island hints to this old home’s past with Medallion Gold’s Maple Devonshire style graced with a Carriage Black Heirloom painted finish. The rubbed off black paint finish reveals the soft wood tones beneath, mimicking furniture you’d see in your grandmother’s home that has lovingly been polished for years to reveal a soft, subtly rubbed-off sheen. Counter tops reverse contrast with perimeter tops of black “Raven” granite possessing a subtle honed finish, and a shift to Quartz Difinity Viareggio - resembling white Carrera marble on the island. A simple herringbone detail completes the decorative range wall, and subtle porcelain subway tiles grace the backsplash throughout. The design is finished off with crisp Thermador and Bosch stainless steel appliances, and bright brushed cup pull and handle combination hardware. A pull down Kohler Bellaria faucet makes cleanup a breeze, and soft under-cabinet LED lighting throughout makes every work surface shine softly, and highlights the cabinetry display area with grace. One special detail was created to make the dramatic ceiling transition to a vaulted area above the breakfast nook extra special. A tongue and groove solid wood ceiling was hung above, and a subtle greenish-grey distressed paint finish was hand developed on site by the talented crew, complementing the new kitchen with a completely unique surface that appears as if it’s been there for many, many years. It’s just one standout feature in the amazing new space that is sure to be in every conversation as newcomers enjoy the newest best hangout in this old home renewed! Gorgeous master bedroom has an amazingly beautiful view and interior designer and client agreed if you want a TV it has to be hidden with a TV lift cabinet system. There are a few pictures of not only the bed but also the view. This is one of our favorite examples of foot of the bed use to hide the TV. The TV is an 55 inch OLED LG flat screen. Their is a compartment that also hides the BluRay and cable box. The operation of the lift kit, TV, cable box, Blue Ray is controlled by a single Universal remote. Push one button and TV, electronics turn on and rise at the same time. Client also uses Apple TV, Roku and their smart TV together to maximize viewing pleasure. The furniture design made by Cabinet Tronix is called the Oceanaire. This one in particular has a very high end piano grade white lacquer finish. This is more expensive however the clients expectations were thankfully exceeded. Cabinet Tronix who has specialized in high end furniture in combination with motorized remote controlled pop up lift furniture since 2002. These systems are made to order based on clients needs versus having units ready to pick from. This type hand holding makes it so the client can have any design, the TV size they want and understand the difference of what their decisions reflect the proportions of the furniture and its size. Have a system particularly at the foot of the bed brings on a few instant situations. The client here wanted a component section to hold the DVD player. Now, I suggested against it as the furniture would be taller than the bed... however that is what he wanted. Most do other suggested ideas I propose with the DVD player so the furniture can be up to 4.5 inches lower. Anyways, loved this project and client was so kind to provide the pictures. These systems are popular in all aspects of homes such as room dividers, in great rooms, side of fire places, center of the room out side by itself and under verandas. The major kitchen renovation of this old country farmhouse was a task of love, one that had been planned for many years by these Barrington seasoned homeowners. After interviewing no less than five companies, the homeowners chose the design team at Advance Design Studio to make the transformation they had long planned for. “They had an understanding of the right design for the space almost from the instant they walked in the room”, says Sharon Scott of the design team of Nicole Ryan at Todd Jurs at Advance Design Studio. “They were the only designers who laid out ideas in the first meeting at the house that we really loved”, she says. “It was obvious that they understood the house, and understood us - and from then on the decision to hire them literally made itself”. The original kitchen had a dividing “wall” of cabinetry…that made the rather large space seem very small, and cut off the kitchen from the eating area that has a beautiful garden view completely hidden from the main kitchen. Circulation was poor, leaving family members on top of one another when entertaining family and friends. The new kitchen design nearly doubles the kitchen size within the original space; opening it up completely and enjoying an expansive island containing a new Kohler Whitehaven Smart Divide farm sink, a dishwasher, and pull out double trash receptacle. The great new gathering space accommodates four pull out stools beckoning grandchildren and friends alike. Removing the range from the island and relocating it to create a dramatic “feature” wall, completely out of the way of guests; it is now crowned with a beautiful completely customized wood hood designed to ventilate much more efficiently than the original island range containing a limited downdraft system. The much more efficient use of the space after removing a pantry closet made way for a fully functional “tall wall” housing a double oven and refrigerator, out of the way of guests. Removing the restrictive cabinetry wall now allowed for an expansive floor to ceiling pantry cabinet with full extension pull out shelving, and an elegant display area complete with a beautiful furniture detailed buffet. Fitting perfectly into the farmhouse charm of the old estate, Medallion Silver Lancaster cabinetry was chosen in a soft white Maple Divinity paint finish lining the perimeter. The stunning island hints to this old home’s past with Medallion Gold’s Maple Devonshire style graced with a Carriage Black Heirloom painted finish. The rubbed off black paint finish reveals the soft wood tones beneath, mimicking furniture you’d see in your grandmother’s home that has lovingly been polished for years to reveal a soft, subtly rubbed-off sheen. Counter tops reverse contrast with perimeter tops of black “Raven” granite possessing a subtle honed finish, and a shift to Quartz Difinity Viareggio - resembling white Carrera marble on the island. A simple herringbone detail completes the decorative range wall, and subtle porcelain subway tiles grace the backsplash throughout. The design is finished off with crisp Thermador and Bosch stainless steel appliances, and bright brushed cup pull and handle combination hardware. Our Revival House designer was asked to transform this dated condo living area into a highly functional kitchen, buffet, and dry bar that reflects the homeowners' eclectic taste. To accomplish this, our designer chose distinctly industrial fixtures and hardware but mixed in three different door styles, an array of colors, hardware styles, finishes, and countertops with a nod to the eclectic. This is not your average kitchen, and it is stunning. This space incorporates three different cabinet finishes on three distinct door styles by Decor. The kitchen perimeter and buffet cabinetry employ a custom door style with an added detail to elevate the look. The dry bar and island utilize a timeless, Shaker-style door. The light cabinets in Willow paint and Mist stain on clear alder and the dark tone of Black Fox paint effortlessly define the to areas within the space - one for meal prep and one for entertainment. Every design decision and choice of material was purposeful in creating this unique kitchen space. The kitchen cabinetry is adorned with an elegant, polished Cambria Quartz in Inverness Frost, contrasted with the edgy, honed Ebony Granite from the Artisan Group for the buffet and dry bar. The thoughtful mix of cabinet hardware, using Bradbury pulls in Warm Brass by Atlas and several styles from Top Knobs' Aspen collection in Silicon Bronze Light, works together to add the perfect amount of warmth, shine, and aged-industrial appearance to this stunning eclectic kitchen. Mixed-metal dome-style pendant lights were added not only to light up the island and warmth but also to add continuity to the mixed-metal cabinet hardware. The lighting choice adds much needed task lighting and keeps the industrial flair without being cold. The Broderick single handle pull-down kitchen faucet in Champagne Bronze by Delta Faucets paired with the Kohler undermount sink is the epitome of form and function and adds to the eclectic personality this kitchen exudes. No kitchen is complete without high-end appliances. This Industrial Eclectic Kitchen has a panel-ready Sub-Zero refrigerator and KitchenAid dishwasher. Every home chef would love to create meals on the gas range by Wolf, and for quick food reheating there is a Sharp microwave in stainless steel. For entertaining guests, the Perlick beverage refrigerator is the perfect addition to the dry bar. This Industrial Eclectic Kitchen transformation is full of unique design elements and attention to detail and will inspire meal preparation and family gatherings for years to come. The smart combinations of cabinetry styles and colors, countertop materials, hardware finishes, and appliance choices all contribute to creating a visually stunning and eclectic space that is both functional and stylish.
