Our client requested a design that reflected their need to renovate their dated bathroom into a transitional floor plan that would provide accessibility and function. The new shower design consists of a pony wall with a glass enclosure that has beautiful details of brushed nickel square glass clamps. The interior shower fittings entail geometric lines that lend a contemporary finish. A curbless shower and linear drain added an extra dimension of accessibility to the plan. In addition, a balance bar above the accessory niche was affixed to the wall for extra stability. The shower area also includes a folding teak wood bench seat that also adds to the comfort of the bathroom as well as to the accessibility factors. Improved lighting was created with LED Damp-location rated recessed lighting. LED sconces were also used to flank the Robern medicine cabinet which created realistic and flattering light. This powder room design in Newtown makes a statement with amazing color and design features. The centerpiece of this design is the blue vanity cabinet from CWP Cabinetry, which is beautifully offset by satin brass fixtures and accessories. The brass theme carries through from the Alno cabinet hardware to the Jaclo faucet, towel ring, Uttermost mirror frame, and even the soap dispenser. These bold features are beautifully complemented by a rectangular sink, Cambria quartz countertop, and Gazzini herringbone floor tile. Linda McManus

During the renovation, the tub was removed and replaced with a shower which would better serve the guests who would be using the bathroom. The niche with extra towels and bath accessories was created from the extra space at the end of the tub. Subway tile in the shower is installed to the ceiling and on all of the walls up to the tile cap. The use of Ivory in the fixtures, paint and tile, unifies and brightens this small bath. A rimless shower door, pedestal sink and generously sized mirror further expand the space. All fittings by Restoration Hardware and all fixtures by Kohler. Lisa Banting
