A Truth Window — a small door that reveals the elements behind the plaster — is a tradition in straw bale houses and serves a source of surprise and delight as guests get to see what the walls are made of. This Truth Window is made from an antique cabinet topped with a unique piece of weathered wood found on site. The knothole functions as a secondary Truth Window, showing the color of the structural plasters hidden behind the finish coat.

A complete full gut remodel of a 4,000 sq ft two-story penthouse residence, this project featured one of a kind views of the Boston public garden and Beacon Hill. A large central gallery flooded with gorgeous diffused light through two full stories of window glass. Clean linear millwork details compliment the structural glass, steel and walnut balustrades and handrailings that grace the upper gallery, reading nook, and stairs. A bleached walnut wet bar with backlit honey onyx backsplash and floating star fire glass shelves illuminated the lower gallery. It was part of a larger motif, which resonated through each of the unique and separate living spaces, connecting them to the larger design intention. A bleached walnut media room doubles as a fourth bedroom. It features a king size murphy bed seamlessly integrated into the full wall panel. A gracious shower in the adjoining bathroom, cleverly concealed behind an innocuous interior door, created a truly unique formal powder room that can reveal a full bath when the house is full of guests. A blend of warm wood, soft whites, and a palate of golds reflected in the stone (calacatta/onyx) textiles and wall coverings, this project demonstrates the powerful results of a consistent design intention, thoughtful engineering, and best practice construction as executed by our talented team of craftsmen and women. In 2009, the KEF | Kent Engineering & Foundry engineers started on a unique loudspeaker that became the "Blade". It was the world's first Single Apparent Source loudspeaker. It shocked the audio industry and has continue to its 12th generation of improvements. Today's Blade Meta reveals the elimination of the typical limited ‘sweet spot’, therefore allowing everybody sitting at different spots in the room to experience and enjoy the same natural, detailed sound. https://tinyurl.com/2d43wjpd See the team at Sound & Vision for more information about KEF loudspeakers. https://lnkd.in/d2NCJKJd #KEF #kefmeta #loudspeaker #audio #audiophile #stereo #hometheater #music #surround #streaming #soundandvision

Accessories And Styling By Tatiana Hisel Interior Design Lesia Wilcox Photography This newly built home in Sammamish needed distinctive design touches to reflect my clients' personal style. This project was two-fold: first, I was hired to assist them in all the finish selection process with the builder, to ensure we would have a cogent and harmonious palate to work with. I was able to negotiate some minor structural and architectural changes with the builder - minor to the builder but these changes made a big difference in how the house would later function. The second phase of this project was specifying and sourcing all of the custom furnishings, window treatments and rugs. And, finally, we wrapped this project up with the accessories on the "final reveal" day.

Foundation Wall Cracks Foundation wall cracks are the most common source of seepage in residential basements across CT and RI. Some of the common causes of these cracks are structure settling, concrete shrinkage or poor site conditions related to soil type and compaction, drainage or concrete strength. Most wall cracks are small in nature and typically pose no structural risk. Some horizontal cracks may reveal a more serious issue and may require crack repair from a structural engineer. Locating the cause of the problem and understanding the cracking pattern is the key to a successful repair. Our crack repair specialists are trained in many repair procedures.

Special attention was paid to lighting effects in the Kitchen and throughout the condo. One of the greatest challenges of the Kitchen was illuminating it without penetrating the existing wood ceiling. A rectangular LED fixture frames the island from above and provides the main source of light, with both indirect ambient up lighting, and overall down lighting for cooking. Lighting underneath the upper cabinets and island counter emphasize the strong horizontal lines and illuminates the stools below. Within the Kitchen layout, the sink and gas range are on center with tall cabinets providing visual balance on either side. The one on the right opens to reveal a beverage center. On the left, the tall appliances are paneled. The elements of white oak, white and black are balanced throughout the space.
