This beautiful custom sauna is in the home of Osmo Vanska, Music Director of the Minnesota Orchestra. Osmo has had Finnleo saunas in multiple residences. As you can see from these photos, Osmo’s sauna is a great addition to his beautiful master bath suite. The custom sauna from Finnleo was designed to fit in the footprint of a large jetted tub which was removed. Sauna features include: panoramic Solace all-glass front, indirect backrest lighting and black granite stone behind the Himalaya rock tower heater.

Whether it’s arthritis, joint or back pain, restless leg syndrome, muscle injuries or fibromyalgia, hot tubs are a proven form of chronic pain relief. The heat of the water increases blood flow and relaxes the body, while the massaging action of the jets and the water’s buoyancy loosen muscle tension and soothe sore joints. The New England Journal of Medicine (08-16-1999) found that, after just 10 days, patients with Type 2 Diabetes who used hot tubs 30 minutes a day/6 days per week required reduced doses of insulin, lost weight, slept better and showed distinct decreases in plasma glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin. Hot tubs can be a great fix for those suffering from insomnia, helping your body to wind down before bed and get the natural sleep you need. Even if you don’t suffer from chronic sleep problems, the Better Sleep Council recommends establishing a relaxing bedtime routine, such as soaking in hot water to help maintain a healthy sleep cycle. According to the Council’s findings, warm water releases muscle tension and increases blood flow, both of which contribute to a relaxed and deeper, more comfortable sleep. The water pressure from hot tub jets relieves muscle tightness and soreness by removing lactic acid, opening up the blood vessels and promoting the flow of endorphins. LPGA Sports Medicine Director Caroline Nichols and former President of the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine Dr. James Andrews recommend hydrotherapeutic activity for athletes at every level. Nichols says that hot tubs especially help with recovery since jets focus on overused muscle and joint regions, while Andrews supports hydrotherapy as a good tool for improved circulation, sensory impulses and stiff joints. Inspiration for a transitional formal dark wood floor living room remodel in New York with gray walls and a standard fireplace

The expanse of this intimate gem is coordinated in a neutral color palette that encourages relaxation and reflection while encircled by greenery and cooling waters. Designed by founder and creative director, Ryan Hughes, this Belleair project includes an ornately appointed swimming pool with a crowning raised spa with decorative waterfall feature. A lounge adorned sun self within the pool creates the perfect vantage point for taking in the space as the sun sets and the in water Save LED Pool Lights shine. A custom-built pergola and a raised lounge patio offer seating for family and friends. Neutral travertine tile and touches of multi-tone wall tiles pulls the design together perfectly coordinating with all the textiles used in the garden furnishings. Photos by Joe Traina

A serenity room, tucked away next to the shower, is a warm, comfortable space for kicking your feet up and getting away from the stresses of the day. A heated lounger, provided by Bradford Products, adds a spa-like feel. Comfortable and classy, this lounge chair was inspired by the client's recent trip on a cruise. A Montigo L-series fireplace sits at the foot of the lounger, supplying ambient light and just the right amount of comfortable heat. A heated floor is the cherry on top of this serenity room sundae. Outdoor Elements maximized the available space in this beautiful yard with a contemporary, rectangular pool complete with a large tanning deck and swim jet system. Mosaic glass-tile accents the spa and a shell stone deck and coping add to the contemporary feel. Behind the tanning deck, a large, up-lit, sheer-descent waterfall adds variety and elegance to the design. A lighted gazebo makes a comfortable seating area protected from the sun while a functional outdoor kitchen is nestled near the backdoor of the residence. Raised planters and screening trees add the right amount of greenery to the space.
