The owners of this very small home have no back yard and wanted to pack a lot of features into the sunny front yard. Designing small gardens can actually be challenging as using the space has to be ultra-efficient. Design goals included an area to grow vegetables, space to sit in the sun and privacy from the busy street. Gently curving Arizona flagstone pathways connect all of the garden features which include two large redwood raised vegetable beds. These special beds have seating walls on all four sides for enjoying your glass of wine and maximizing the space. We installed new redwood fences, pergolas and gates to provide a sense of enclosure from the street. Mounding, drought-tolerant Mediterranean plants create year-round color and invite insect activity. Hidden beneath the surface is a series of drains to address slope and runoff issues in the rainy season. You don't need a lot of space to enjoy the beautiful Santa Cruz outdoors!

Project: Le Petit Hopital in Provence
Limestone Elements by Ancient Surfaces
Project Renovation completed in 2012
Situated in a quiet, bucolic setting surrounded by lush apple and cherry orchards, Petit Hopital is a refurbished eighteenth century Bastide farmhouse.
With manicured gardens and pathways that seem as if they emerged from a fairy tale. Petit Hopital is a quintessential Provencal retreat that merges natural elements of stone, wind, fire and water.
Talking about water, Ancient Surfaces made sure to provide this lovely estate with unique and one of a kind fountains that are simply out of this world.
The villa is in proximity to the magical canal-town of Isle Sur La Sorgue and within comfortable driving distance of Avignon, Carpentras and Orange with all the French culture and history offered along the way.
The grounds at Petit Hopital include a pristine swimming pool with a Romanesque wall fountain full with its thick stone coping surround pieces.
The interior courtyard features another special fountain for an even more romantic effect.
Cozy outdoor furniture allows for splendid moments of alfresco dining and lounging.
The furnishings at Petit Hopital are modern, comfortable and stately, yet rather quaint when juxtaposed against the exposed stone walls.
The plush living room has also been fitted with a fireplace.
Antique Limestone Flooring adorned the entire home giving it a surreal out of time feel to it.
The villa includes a fully equipped kitchen with center island featuring gas hobs and a separate bar counter connecting via open plan to the formal dining area to help keep the flow of the conversation going.

Dreaming of a yard with minimal upkeep? No need to keep wishing! We specialize in creating custom designs to fit individual customers' needs & wants. For our customer located southwest of Denver in Highlands Ranch, we designed new outdoor living spaces to be enjoyed in both the front & back. We installed a large paver patio in the front with plenty of furniture space - a perfect area for winding down after a long day or saying hi to the neighbors from a safe distance! On the side yard, new steppers create a pathway leading you into the back. The back yard features a xeriscape plan with another large paver area to be enjoyed by the whole family. A block planter for flowers & new steps off the existing deck complete the patio space. We also placed fresh mulch, plantings, & a ribbon of cobble for contrast & visual interest. Whether you dream of a low-maintenance xeriscape plan or a more usable family space, our designers are here to imagine the perfect yard for you!

Great pools and property deserve beautiful Urns at point. This helps with the flow of the traffic to and from the pool house or main house in addition to adding color when the perennial gardens haven't come in as of yet.
This property is in Bedford, New York.

The Jason Alba Playpark is designed as an extension of the client's mission statement: To unite the mind, body, and spirit. Students work in specially designed areas (zones) alongside therapists to support individual needs with sensory-seeking and avoiding tendencies.
• Acoustic –Embracing rhythm during vibration and sound therapy can lead to dance: a physical embodiment of emotions created by sound.
• Tactile - Sensory exposure is expressed through different textures, colors, and surface temperatures of materials. A tactile wall and pathway allow students to encounter varying surface conditions, strengthening their ability to react to changing conditions encountered every day.
• Active – Promoting healthy minds through activity: the active zone encourages the use of adaptive and accessible equipment, social engagement through physical activity, and inspires confidence through play.
• Color - Each color evokes different feelings that can calm, soothe, invigorate, and excite.
• Nature - A calming space with a greenhouse and sensory gardens establishes a welcoming environment for therapy sessions. Aromatherapy in the gardens stimulate one’s senses engaging in all aspects of therapy through the selection of safe plant materials.
• Water –Features such as harvesting, cleaning, and reusing rainwater teach sustainability and permeable surfaces facilitate save play.
