A huge amount of functional storage space was designed into an otherwise small kitchen through the use of purpose built, custom cabinetry.
The homeowner knew exactly how she wanted to organize her kitchen tools. A knife drawer was specially made to fit her collection of knives. The open shelving on the range side serves as easy access to her cookware as well as a garbage pullout.
We were able to relocate and center the range and copper range hood made by Vogler Metalworks by removing a center island and replacing it with a honed black granite countertop peninsula. The subway tile backsplash on the sink wall is taken up to the soffit with the exception of dark bull nose used to frame the wall sconce made by Vaughn.
The kitchen also serves as an informal entryway from the lake and exterior brick patio so the homeowners were desperate to have a way to keep shoes from being scattered on the floor. We took an awkward corner and fitted it with custom built cabinetry that housed not only the family's shoes but kitty litter, dog leashes, car keys, sun hats, and lotions.

The cooking area features clean line symmetry and drawer within a drawer front functionality. The Miele 5 burner induction cooktop is flush mounted into a Krion countertop that wraps a low backsplash and windowsills for ease of cleaning. Seamless matt glass back panels behind the cook area complete the look and make for easy cleanup.
We developed and patented a special receptacle to meet the visual demands as well as current electrical codes. The veselbrand™ Powerport™ remains completely flush and hidden in the splash until it is required, then with the use of a simple removal tool these receptacles’ can be reveled for full functionality. This eliminates all the clutter of standard receptacles’ normally required by code.
The veselbrand™ Jewel Box Hood features white back painted glass and an integrated LED lighting system to provide the best in functionality and exquisite design.

Bathed in natural light, this English Cottage kitchen addition honors the charm of the home’s 1938 architecture while perfectly framing sweeping garden views. From the apron-front farm sink, you look straight through the garden arch into the shade garden and orchard beyond, a daily reminder of the home’s idyllic garden.
The kitchen’s flow creates a natural gathering place for family and loved ones, sitting just off the living room and anchored by a custom island modeled after an antique dairy table. Its classic turned legs and warm wood give the island a timeless, heirloom charm. Deep drawers generously accommodate pots and pans, while a clever rollout above stores lids neatly in place, making every piece easy to find. A bespoke glass-front hutch in a soft greige accent color showcases the homeowners’ collected antique serveware treasures, adding both contrast and personality.
To give the space a sense of grandeur, the ceiling was raised a foot higher than the rest of the home. Tongue-and-groove paneling and hand-hewn beams lend a feeling of intention and history to the added height. Arched openings—echoing the home’s original architecture—frame the breakfast nook, dining room, and entry to the living room.
The breakfast nook itself is pure cottage charm, with built-in bench seating, a replicated arched niche for display, and a view that invites cozy mornings and quiet evenings. An antique crystal chandelier hangs above the island, each crystal catching and giving a special sparkle, while a leaded diamond-glass transom gracefully frames the entry to the butler’s pantry.
Custom inset cabinetry brings nostalgic detail, complemented by unlacquered brass hardware and lighting. A French-made bridge faucet and pot filler in polished nickel introduce a refined mix of metals. The classic marble-inspired quartz countertops pair seamlessly with a handmade ceramic subway tile backsplash, while the Italian Ilve range stands as both a culinary tool and a statement piece.
Every inch of this kitchen is designed for beauty and purpose, from integrated storage that keeps everything in its place to architectural details that make it feel as if it has always been part of this storybook English cottage.

Although expensive Granite makes the most beautiful and practical stone worktop you can install in your kitchen. It gives real wow factor to a room and this kitchen in Folkestone was no different. Normally granite needs little maintenance however Folkestone has very hard water (often referred to as limescale) containing high levels of calcium and over time the calcium in the water gets deposited on nearby surfaces. According to the Affinity Water website the water in Folkestone contains 287.5 mg of calcium per litre which is classed as hard.
The owner of the property contacted us explaining that due to this problem the build-up of calcium deposits had overtaken her sink and countertop to a degree that she couldn`t deal with it through normal cleaning and a restoration was required. There are several household products on the market that can remove limescale however you need to be very careful when using these on natural stone as they use acids to break down the calcium and this can etch stone making the problem worse (always read the label). I went and had a look at the problem and gave her a quote for resolving the problem, which she was happy to accept.
Before starting the renovation, I protected the floor with dust sheets and the walls with a blue film that is easy to remove. Then to tackle the limescale I carefully went over each part of the Granite counter using a set of six-inch Tile Doctor Burnishing pads applying them in sequence from coarse to extra fine. To give extra cleaning power the coarser pads were applied with Tile Doctor Oxy-Gel which is an alkaline cleaning gel. The pads were fitted to a hand buffer and the soil generated by the abrasive pads was rinsed off between pads with water. For the finer detail such as the groves in the granite draining board, I used diamond encrusted handheld burnishing blocks of various grits. With the combination of diamond tooling and lots of elbow grease the job took around five hours to complete and the granite now has the polished look it deserves.
The granite worksurface does not require an actual sealer to be applied. However, maintenance is the key to keeping the stone in great condition so for aftercare I left the owner with a bottle of Tile Doctor Stone Patina Spray. This product is designed for cleaning stone worktops and contains a special ingredient that maintains the lustre. This should ensure the Limescale becomes manageable and can be cleaned more easily.
I made a striking difference to the appearance of the Granite Worktop and the owner was over the moon with the result.

Steve Kennedy lives in a barn. At least that's where he spends a great deal of time when he's not at work running Kennedy, Inc., manufacturers of sterling silver corporate gifts. After all, that's where he keeps his baby - a 1954 Chevy half-ton, step-side pickup with a short bed and 5-window cab.
Steve restores vintage trucks at home in a special building out back - equipped for just that occasion. But don't let the barn boards and beams fool you. As someone who knows the value of high-end merchandise, Steve works on his latest project with the help of Lista drawer storage cabinets. He uses them to store and organize all the parts and tools he needs to keep his truck's 235 cubic inch straight 6 with four-on-the-floor purring like a kitten.
This is Steve's country.
"We have Lista products in our factory, so I've become accustomed to that level of quality - other products seem like junk in comparison. Lista is the premium product, and when you compare pricing, you appreciate Lista's value."
Steve adopted the Chevy truck five years ago. It was solid with minimal rust at the time, but it was sorely in need of a cab-off restoration. Now that it's looking sweet, it gets all the attention almost.
"The first thing people look at when they come to the barn is, obviously, the Chevy truck. But right after that, they start staring at the Lista cabinets. They say, 'Oh man, Lista - that's the best!' "

This gazebo area, behind the guesthouse, was once a catch-all area for lumber and old tools. When the peonies bloom is a time of special splendor. Emblematic Butterflies and Dragonflies appear on the stepping stones inlaid in the gravel path

Eleven tons of boulders were positioned perfectly to create this stunning water feature which doubles as a diving shelf for the kids. An extra large hot tub has room for lot of teenagers. A swim up bar completes the Oasis vibe by allowing swimmers to sip umbrella drinks while lounging in the pool. The built in pool cover helps retain heat and keeps debris from nearby trees out of the water. The sunken cabana room has a stone fireplace, BBQ island and a TV. The BBQ island contains a smoker, outdoor fridge, storage for placemats and grill tools. Two infrared heaters allow for year round enjoyment of this special space.

1200 sq.ft addition with exterior make over.
Modern glass garage doors really changed the curb appeal of this home.

The new sink vanity cabinets offer optimal organizational areas including a drawer that incorporates a USB plug-in for a charging station and an outlet for all the hair styling tools. Outside this bathroom area is a special dressing area with custom cabinets to incorporate storage and organization for laundry hampers, clothes, jewelry and purses. I gave the house a new look; it previously looked gloomy and neglected. I used high-quality materials, including special ones for plant care and to delay the reappearance of mold. With the right tools and my experience, I was able to finish washing it in two days, which helped my client keep costs low.
