Whether it’s arthritis, joint or back pain, restless leg syndrome, muscle injuries or fibromyalgia, hot tubs are a proven form of chronic pain relief. The heat of the water increases blood flow and relaxes the body, while the massaging action of the jets and the water’s buoyancy loosen muscle tension and soothe sore joints. The New England Journal of Medicine (08-16-1999) found that, after just 10 days, patients with Type 2 Diabetes who used hot tubs 30 minutes a day/6 days per week required reduced doses of insulin, lost weight, slept better and showed distinct decreases in plasma glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin. Even if you don’t suffer from chronic sleep problems, the Better Sleep Council recommends establishing a relaxing bedtime routine, such as soaking in hot water to help maintain a healthy sleep cycle. A family of passionate athletes and sports aficionados embarked on a remarkable endeavor alongside our team and Studio M Merge. Their vision? To breathe new life into their outdated mid-century modern home and neglected pool, resulting in the dramatic “Sports Enthusiasts’ Hideaway.” The transformative journey focused on opening the interior spaces out toward the beautiful gardens and amenities. The renewed house features expanded open-plan living areas, a new bedroom, and a reimagined primary bath. An attached ADU added a sports bar and a flexible office space that can double as a private guest bedroom. The outdoor spaces were brought to life with the addition of expansive decks, inviting patios, a horseshoe pit, a basketball half-court, refreshing plunge pools, and a lush sports lawn. A pool house artfully frames the view from the pool to the neighboring golf course. This family of five finds themselves immersed in their expanded home and experiential outdoor hideaway. Every element has been thoughtfully designed to cater to their favorite activities, providing a peaceful haven where they can fully indulge their shared passion for sports. This fun basement space wears many hats. First, it is a large space for this extended family to gather and entertain when the weather brings everyone inside. Surrounding this area is a gaming station, a large screen movie spot. a billiards area, foos ball and poker spots too. Many different activities are being served from this design. Dark Grey cabinets are accented with taupe quartz counters for easy clean up. Glass wear is accessible from the full height wall cabinets so everyone from 6 to 60 can reach. There is a sink, a dishwasher drawer, ice maker and under counter refrigerator to keep the adults supplied with everything they could need. High top tables and comfortable seating makes you want to linger. A secondary cabinet area is for the kids. Serving bowls and platters are easily stored and a designated under counter refrigerator keeps kid friendly drinks chilled. A shimmery wall covering makes the walls glow and a custom light fixture finishes the design.

The system utilized Burma Cherry melamine laminate finish with black edge banding which was complemented with an integral black powder coated j-pull door handles. The system also incorporated some poly slot wall area for storing a large variety of sporting goods that could easily be interchanged for the season and stored away when not in use. The client wanted patio space for a chair so she could relax in the sun when the mood struck. The only spot in the yard with any sun is near the fence gate. A full-range New York Bluestone patio was added using 30” x 30” slabs. These slabs are dry-set so leveling was a challenge.
