The main floor kitchen space felt cramped due to a small dining room near the sliding doors. To gain space we started with a smaller foot print of the kitchen island and moved the dining area to the right of the island opening up the kitchen, gaining space with natural light flowing through the sliding doors. We removed the old dated popcorn ceilings and relocated the pot lights to give better lighting in areas that needed it and removed lights that didn’t need it. The end result is a country kitchen with character and charm.

Starting its life as a dark, walled in space with inadequate cabinetry and multiple awkward components, I knew the only way forward with this penthouse kitchen, was for it to undergo a complete rebuild. The clients were hoping to welcome a child in the years following this renovation, however they love to entertain so also wanted a modern and sophisticated kitchen. Therefore, the task became marrying functional indestructibility with clean, elevated design, resulting in a timeless, architecturally forward kitchen with sensible storage and innovated finishes. The first and most important task when addressing the modernization of this kitchen, was to remove the existing walls that closed off the space. Accomplishing this allowed for a more free-flowing feel and opened the sightline to the rest of the unit. This also invited the opportunity for a new, more welcoming floor plan including the addition of a large island with ample counter space and optional eat-in functionality. In order to maximize functional efficiency and overall aesthetic value, I knew the plumbing required substantial relocation. However, with concrete ceilings and floors, combined with a strata unwilling to allow trenching of the slab, moving the plumbing to the most effective location was no easy feat. Ultimately, I was able to accomplish this by creating a hidden channel inside the cabinetry that allowed the plumbing to be redirected to the ideal location without visible detection. Creatively, I was inspired by the idea of injecting dimension, by way of juxtaposing materials that wouldn’t necessarily be found together in nature, yet worked harmonious when combined. You’ll notice the cabinet fronts are all made of solid Dekton – a manmade stone that while costly, is nearly indestructible. This created the base in which we inset the countertop, backsplash and surround, all made in a wood-like material. As if a huge ice-cream scoop glided into a slab of solid stone, uncovering beautiful layered depths of wood. I worked with a local company to custom manufacture this is a high impact, one-of-a-kind laminate specifically for this project. It’s nonporous, fingerprint resistant and antimicrobial. It offers a matte finish which has a beautiful hand-feel resembling real wood but because it’s manmade, it’s not subjected to the same expansion and contraction of natural wood, making it an exceptional choice for this application. Final details also include a touchless kitchen faucet, integrated appliances, hidden storage, Italian lighting, delicate Australian hardware and smart switches and plugs.

Twelve years between phases. Every piece from the first still beautiful in the second. That is what investing well in interior decorating looks like. These returning Toronto clients first worked with Yassein Interiors in 2013 — two accomplished professionals ready to invest in their condominium but not yet ready to do everything at once. We started in the kitchen: sprayed cabinets, a bar and sideboard, custom dining storage, and two occasional chairs for the living room. Every piece was chosen not for the moment but for the long view. In 2025, they called again. Now retired. Now ready for the rest. And here is the part of this story that matters most: every single piece from 2013 was still there. Still beautiful. Still working. Nothing had been chosen carelessly in the first place. The second phase centred on the living room. A custom sectional transformed the layout — generous for book club evenings, perfectly oriented for television, proportioned so the room breathes. Beside it, a swivel chair in an acrylic-mohair blend connects quietly to the bar cabinet purchased a decade earlier. A highback chair with matching ottoman was positioned for one purpose: to enjoy the treetop view. The angle, the relationship to the window, the way light falls across the fabric at different hours — this is what careful space planning looks like. The flooring was the largest physical change: dated cherry hardwood replaced throughout with a warm midtone oak that ties every room together. In the kitchen, a new faucet, custom counter stools, and playful drapery gave a space that was already well-appointed a fresh lift without starting over. We’re so excited to share our latest bathroom remodel project from the home of our wonderful repeat clients. This dynamic duo has partnered with us for several amazing transformations in their home, and this one is no exception. Project Manager, Steve Shanholtz; Designer, Justina Auer; and our talented Bennett crew turned this dreary bathroom into a magnificent masterpiece. We started by bidding farewell to the outdated garden tub, cramped shower and aging vanity. The window was expanded to match the upper arched one, inviting an abundance of light to illuminate the space and set the stage for a breathtaking solid surface freestanding tub. The color palette was inspired by the stunning black and white kitchen we just finished last year. Cambria quartz is the unsung hero that tied the whole space together. It graced all the horizontal surfaces: vanity top, windowsill, knee wall sill, shower bench top and top of the linen cabinet, serving as a charming plant shelf. A gracefully curved transitional piece on the floor bridges the gap between the black river rock pebble flooring and dark charcoal wood-like tile planks, creating a unique connection between the two areas. We are so proud of what we accomplished in this space, and we’ve already started thinking of what our next project will be for this lovely couple. Thank you for putting your trust in us once again!

This small en suite started out as a closet. We worked with the homeowner to complete her bedroom and now she wanted a bathroom to match. She started on her own, got stuck, and called us in to finish the job! Mission accomplished!

Our wonderful clients who are native to New Jersey purchased a new-build townhouse in Charlotte, North Carolina and asked us to turn it into a warm and welcoming home. We accomplished this by starting with an overall neutral palette and incorporating texture to every room along with dark elements which added depth throughout. Fun wallpaper and original artwork created by a local Charlotte artist were also focal points of the home which enhanced it's personality even more. Our most challenging space was the narrow outdoor area, which started out as a screened in porch with a fireplace. We were able to transform the space into a beautiful and function lounge and dining area which is used to entertain friends and family constantly. We couldn't be happier that our client was thrilled with the outcome!
