Sosna IncThese are returning clients of Sosna, for whom we previously completed a Laundry Room and multiple Bathroom renovation.
They are a family of professionals in the restaurant industry, who returned to Sosna to renovate their outdated, and cramped Kitchen. They found it especially cramped when entertaining guests, as the only space to gather was around the cooking area.
During the renovation process, it was discovered that the existing window had leaked and caused extensive damage to the exterior wall. This damage was repaired with new framing and insulation, and a larger window was installed allowing for a beautiful view of the backyard.
In the newly renovated Kitchen, a large peninsula in the center of the room features unique grooved panels with LED lighting and a quartz waterfall countertop. Creating the grooved panels to align perfectly with the tall cabinets on the opposite wall and also fit the LED channels required detailed and careful calculations.
This peninsula not only enhances the aesthetics of the space but also serves a functional purpose. It provides a designated area for food preparation and cooking behind it, while the opposite side remains a convenient and safe space for entertaining, allowing guests to communicate and interact with their hosts effortlessly.
The back wall of the Kitchen features the stove and large hood cabinet, which are flanked by 2 appliance garages to hide and store small countertop appliances. As well, cabinetry that is fully loaded with drawer and cabinet accessories with pull-outs and inserts keeps the countertops free from clutter.
The right side of the Kitchen includes the fridge, pantry, and tall cabinetry with plenty of useful storage. A wine fridge and built-in coffee machine are conveniently placed for entertaining.
Given the new cabinetry was a mix of doors with a thin shaker profile, and doors with grooves, the installation of knobs and handles required careful measurement to ensure that they not only fit the grooves, but lined up for a clean and cohesive look.

MARGARITA BRAVOOur clients wanted a modern mountain getaway that would combine their gorgeous mountain surroundings with contemporary finishes. To highlight the stunning cathedral ceilings, we decided to take the natural stone on the fireplace from floor to ceiling. The dark wood mantle adds a break for the eye, and ties in the views of surrounding trees. Our clients wanted a complete facelift for their kitchen, and this started with removing the excess of dark wood on the ceiling, walls, and cabinets. Opening a larger picture window helps in bringing the outdoors in, and contrasting white and black cabinets create a fresh and modern feel.

Mill Cabinet ShopThis is the most complicated finish process we do. You start with rustic hickory, with all of its knots and imperfections. You then wear the cabinets, knocking down the edges in places that would see everyday use. The wood is then stained dark and painted in whatever color the client wants. Then they are worn again to reveal the darker wood under the paint. The whole job gets a healthy coat of lacquer to complete this amazing finish.

To highlight the stunning cathedral ceilings, we decided to take the natural stone on the fireplace from floor to ceiling. They were sleeping on a mattress on the floor with paper blinds on the windows – totally unacceptable! They had already painted and the flooring was new, so we worked with the existing color scheme, which was great, because they selected a sophisticated neutral color scheme that gave us a perfect base. The room was completely empty, so to get the ball rolling, we started by sourcing and purchasing the larger furniture items first and basing the remainder of the decor around those pieces. I really enjoy finding a good deal and gathering unique accents from multiple sources, rather than having a room decorated all from one store. I never want a client’s home to look like it came straight from a catalog page…where’s the fun in that? Luckily this client felt the same way and they were totally on board with finding special pieces from stores like: Wayfair, Home Goods and Pier 1.

Gonyea TransformationsThis Medina garage condo remodel combines the best of old and new. Our client wanted to incorporate a vintage gas pump, so we created a design with a unique retro-style “gas station” for the lower half of the garage. Integrated brick acts as the exterior of the “gas station” as well as a wall between each room. Upstairs, you’ll notice a more modern design, with cable handrail features in the overlook, working as a “window” into the lower level. The loft provides a beautiful kitchen with modern farmhouse touches, including an island with shiplap details, custom cabinetry, and rustic lighting fixtures. The goal of this loft was to create a great space for entertaining, which is made evident by the great island and overlook bar incorporated into the railing. By extending the facade of the gas station to the ceiling, the Gonyea Transformations team created a great entertainment nook and privacy wall to form a relaxed environment in the upper-level loft.
