Home away from home is where we often meet our clients, especially in Bend. They crave a welcoming and approachable, yet luxurious and well curated vacation home. This custom home in Central Oregon’s Caldera Springs neighborhood was no exception. An investment property the owners and their family will use occasionally, the home had to speak to their overall aesthetic, while graciously accommodating rental guests throughout the year. Design for each space was a collaboration with our clients, who selected “inspiration” fabrics and artwork that tell a story and bring warmth and personality to the home. We designed hard-wearing custom furniture, composed layers of luxe bedding, placed photography by local artist and photographer Chris Murray, and added comfortable and low maintenance furniture outside, where everyone wants to be year-round in Bend. Working with the property manager, we checked every item off a comprehensive list to outfit the chef’s kitchen and ensure guests would have all the comforts of home. London's apartments often have impressive entrances that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. As one enters a London apartment building, they may be greeted by a grand lobby with high ceilings, elegant lighting, and tasteful decor. The lobby may be adorned with artwork, plants, and comfortable seating for visitors and residents alike. The entrance to each individual apartment within the building is typically equipped with a secure entry system, such as a keycard or intercom, to ensure the safety and privacy of the residents. Some apartments may also have a doorman or concierge stationed at the entrance to assist with packages, provide security, and answer questions. In addition to the practical elements of apartment entrances, many London apartments boast unique architectural features that make them stand out. Some have grand archways, ornate moldings, or decorative tiles that give the entranceway a sense of history and charm. Overall, the entrances to London's apartments serve as an important gateway into the home and reflect the style and personality of the building and its residents.

This spectacular outdoor space reconnects the new combo living and dining room to the home and features cedar framed hip roof, infrared heaters, television, and a customized wine barrel sink. The boardwalk across the yard connects back to the home and allows for additional outdoor lounge and landscaped areas, as well as a grilling area just outside to the home's kitchen. In a nutshell, it's a fantastic addition to lifestyle, beautiful craftsmanship, and the functioning of the home for real family and social living.

Inspiration for a contemporary kitchen remodel in Orange County

Like many of our clients, when we met this homeowner, she was unsure how long she'd be staying in this house. Stay or sell, she knew she wanted to update the kitchen and bath for herself, and needed to for resale; and she knew she needed SYI to handle the whole remodel, conception to construction oversight. So, SYI designed to her taste—a clean if traditional look—but with an eye to creating spaces that would have a general appeal for potential buyers. The bathroom thus went all white—except for the client's favorite blue on the walls. The great new layout and layered lighting will appeal no matter the aesthetics of the next owner; but the client chose the marble inlay and extra storage for herself.
