Located in the Perrinville neighborhood of Edmonds, this waterfront project began as a vision for a large addition and attached garage and evolved into a substantial partial rebuild of the existing home. The design goals centered on expanding and modernizing the residence while responding thoughtfully to the site’s sensitive environmental conditions, including a stream, steep slope, and the Puget Sound shoreline with associated buffers. Careful planning ensured compliance with critical area restrictions while maximizing sweeping water views and strengthening the home’s connection to its remarkable setting. The reimagined main floor was designed as an open, light-filled great room organized around a large kitchen and generous entertaining spaces. Expansive glass doors and a dramatic wall of windows frame views of the Puget Sound, creating a seamless indoor–outdoor connection and allowing natural light to fill the interior. A new addition is designed with a two-car garage at the lower level and a primary suite above, designed as a private retreat with elevated views and refined finishes. Sustainability and efficiency were also central goals: the existing foundation and main floor system were salvaged and reused, while rebuilt walls support a modern double shed roofline constructed with SIP panels (Structurally Insulated Panels) over exposed wood beams. The result is a cohesive, contemporary home that balances environmental sensitivity, performance, and waterfront living.

The before image of the Spratt kitchen. As Mr. Spratt requires a wheelchair to man-oeuvre around his home, his old kitchen wasn't user friendly for him. He couldn't access the upper cabinets and using the range was dangerous for him. To utilize the sink, he had to pull himself up on a chair

This low maintenance Timber Tech deck was designed and built to create an additional outdoor living space for them next to their existing sunroom and patio so their backyard can be used for multiple activities. Low maintenance decking is great for home owners who do not want to worry about staining or pressure washing their deck. This deck has a very classic design with a herringbone pattern for a more modern appearance. This space can be used for dining or grilling on warm summer days and serves as a great gathering space for family and friends. This low maintenance deck was custom designed and built by Carol Stream deck builder, Archadeck of Chicagoland.

Deck Brightener DSI is designed to be used after Deck Stripper DSI to neutralize the surface and restore the natural beauty of exterior wood. Deck Brightener DSI removes rust or tannin stains caused by fallen leaves and is recommended for use on all species of wood, including redwood.
Deck Brightener DSI is an oxalic acid solution that removes dirt, grime, tannin, rust, and fungi stains from wood surfaces. This liquid concentrate is mixed with water (two parts water to one part concentrate) to brighten and restore the natural beauty of exterior wood. Deck Brightener DSI will not harm wood fibers, grass, or plants when used properly. Deck Brightener DSI is recommended for surface preparation prior to initial application of clear and semi-transparent finishes and stains. It is used as a neutralizer and brightener for all wood species that have been cleaned with Deck Stripper DSI.
Even new wood needs to be cleaned in order to remove mill scale so the surface can more easily absorb deck stains. Deck Brightener DSI is not formulated to remove intact paint, stain, or clear finishes and may dull painted and metal surfaces if not quickly rinsed.
