The Home
The Elbert, named after a Colorado fourteener, is designed in the modern farmhouse style with an open concept that creates a
welcoming feeling. The two-story entry light compliments the incredible view of Pikes Peak. The main level includes a gourmet kitchen
open to the great room, dining room and study. The master suite is an owner’s delight with a separate seating area that opens to a
spa-like master bathroom.
Moving up a level will reveal one of JS Homes’ specialties. Utilizing often overlooked space, we bring our East Coast influences to the
Colorado Springs market by using the attic for additional living space without adding another floor. This results in higher roof lines and a majestic appearance. Two bedrooms, a bathroom and a bonus room will be a delight for the kids in the family.
The ten-foot ceiling in the lower-level was designed with entertaining in mind. Two bedrooms, a shared bath and an exercise room complete the ensemble. Building within Flying Horse North, we were able to incorporate unique materials including stucco, barnwood, stone and pre-finished western red cedar.
JS Homes is proud to present The Elbert.
The Builder
Building homes for over 10 years, Jeff and Sonja Cole have been gifted to create a company that listens to our clients’ needs and desires and strives to capture those visions in their creations. Before becoming a home builder, Jeff was an interior trim carpenter specializing in new custom homes in the Denver and East Coast markets. This gave him a unique perspective on space and design. Jeff stays current with the changing plans and movements in home design by attending national shows and following contemporary design trends.
Sonja takes the lead on interior design, plan review and draw coordination, in addition to being the REALTOR® who makes all our transactions possible.
We are blessed to have an incredible staff of trade partners and vendors who are willing to spend time on our projects. Without them we would not be JS Homes Inc.
The Interior Design
This Flying Horse North lot was a perfect setting for The Elbert, a modern farmhouse. From the moment you walk through the front door, your sightline is drawn to the incredible Pikes Peak view. We sought to capture the large space by blending a mix of different materials and textures. Superior craftsmanship incorporates a mixture of materials, from knotty alder and walnut on the main level, to hickory and quarter-sawn oak elsewhere, creating a rich and rewarding feel. Luxe granites complimented by beautiful tile work add depth and movement in many areas of the house — creating a refined feeling. Working with Jessica Brown of La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries, we designed a palette of colors, patterns and rich textures to enhance and compliment the interior finishes. A mixture of grays, blues and whites provides a timeless, fresh and family friendly environment that makes The Elbert a sanctuary for entertaining and relaxing.

A master bath that exudes luxury and leisure is the cornerstone of a dream house. Here the neutral color palette with the faint use of a teal towel gives way to the fresh, lavish lifestyle that this home strives for. Photo Credit: Samantha Day

We are very excited to share this project with you! As you probably know, Reborn Cabinets constantly strives to manufacture the best kitchen and bathroom cabinets and Signature Refacing products! But above and beyond that, our real focus is to provide “The Ultimate Remodeling Experience!” In-line with this vision, we partnered with Wellborn Cabinets a little over a year ago, and we are thrilled with the quality and variety that Wellborn has opened-up for our clients!
This kitchen began with cabinets that were over 30 years old, and that had been painted over many, many times. While Reborn Cabinets can reface most cabinets surfaces, sometimes the cabinetry is just too old to reface and achieve the look our client is looking for and deserves. This is a perfect opportunity for our Reborn Designers to introduce our clients to Wellborn!
The Wellborn family has owned and operated Wellborn Cabinet, Inc. since 1961. Their goal is to provide kitchen and bath cabinets crafted by dedicated Wellborn employees with the utmost quality and care…see? It’s a great culture fit for Reborn Cabinets, and a reliable product to offer our clients who are interested in replacing their cabinets, while keeping their existing layout!
As you can see, new cabinets (maple with a sienna finish), new counters (Stilestone quartz, Lena color), and a new sink (Blanco) is a dramatic change!

This inviting two-tone kitchen features Medallion Dana Pointe cabinetry with a warm Irish Crème painted finish on the perimeter and a contrasting Dockside stain on the island, bringing a touch of weathered charm and natural character to the space. The countertops are Cambria Berwyn quartz with a sleek 4” high backsplash, adding elegance and durability.
Behind the range, a stunning Hanami Olive Mosaic accent tile creates a beautiful focal point and adds texture and visual interest to the design.
A Kohler Strive double-bowl stainless steel sink pairs beautifully with the Moen Arbor spot-resistant stainless faucet for both functionality and style. Over the island, a Generation Lighting Elmwood Park linear pendant provides a sophisticated finishing touch and illuminates the heart of this timeless kitchen design.

This is a project in collaboration with Bethany Christianson, Architect and Jaeger & Ernst cabinetmakers. Striving to exceed the clients expectations for a kitchen with subtle details from the country sweetish style, Jaeger & Ernst provided everything desired. Islands are multifaceted opportunities for the creative cabinet desinger as shown is this island end photo.

Our clients have been raising their family in this charming Lakewood ranch home for several years and were ready to make some updates to their home to make it better fit their lifestyle. In particular, the existing kitchen just wasn’t meeting their needs. They were sacrificing usable square footage to redundant circulation and the kitchen wasn’t connecting well with the other spaces in their home, so things had to change. We started by reworking the entry to the kitchen and switching up their layout to allow the kitchen to flow seamlessly with the rest of the house. To add to the open feeling we were striving for, we removed the existing ceiling soffits and created a clean transition between the kitchen and dining room, and installed the same wood flooring throughout the entire home. Aesthetically we wanted to create an inviting kitchen that felt clean and bright but could still stand up to a busy family. Soft grey shaker cabinets gave us the welcoming air we were looking for while providing a subtle contrast against the white quartz counters and backsplash tile. We utilized the same elegant pulls on all of the cabinets to add to the cohesive look of the kitchen and keep things from feeling too cluttered. We wanted to have a little fun with the backsplash without loosing the clean feeling we were going for, so we selected a crisp white picket tile to add a pop of texture. Updating the dining room light fixture and adding a pendant over the sink help to personalize the space and the charming shelves provide an opportunity to display original sculpture.

Welcome to Coffey's Master Bathroom!
Both Adam and Alicia Coffey had conveyed to the design team that they enjoyed East Coast flair with modern touches. Before renovations began they were still uncertain about how the designers at One Week Bath would manage to execute a redesign that reflected their individual tastes, but that still conveyed the luxurious and intimate appeal that so many homeowners strive for when remodeling their home. Much to their delight, One Week Bath exceeded their expectations.

On a tight site this design strived to maximise the garden. We achieved this by making the green space the priority and designed the home around the ideal central courtyard.
This process created a form that opened up to the north sun and rotated the upper levels to face the sea views. The green band through the site has become a space that is forever changing, the sliding screens and roof create a room that can be manipulated by the weather.

With the wall gone, this space is transformed into an open and airy room with grand views to the outside. The original kitchen had a cramped, galley style layout with a vaulted wood ceiling. Although the cedar wood ceiling was a nice compliment to the space, it didn’t fit into the new, more modern design that the homeowners were striving for, so the ceiling was painted out white to blend with the vaulted ceiling in the Living Room. New luxury plank flooring in a light oak was installed throughout the main floor to create a cohesive look to the rooms, including the front entry and hallway.
The new layout boasts a large island that is perfect for making meals or hosting family get togethers. The combination of hickory base cabinets and painted white wall cabinets creates a clean look with warmth & texture that is contrasting to the light floor color. The captivating emerald-green backsplash tile in the harlequin shape, along with the oversized Nordic pendant lights and leather counter stools add a modern vibe to the room and creates a harmonious living space to relax and entertain in.

Dedicated to comfort, inspiration and relaxation, we strived to create an oasis for our client and friend. Custom cabinetry, wall treatments and a beautiful bar area were all integral parts of the design plan.
