Our clients wanted a more sociable space to use with their family and create a calming yet functional space. We knocked down the wall to join the existing kitchen with the children's old play room to create an open plan kitchen and dining space which has very quickly become the heart of their home. Using a mixture of natural materials and soft paint colours, we created a light and calming space completely tailored to our clients lifestyle and personality. Integrating layers of lighting, furniture built around structural beams and wrapping units around the L-shaped room, we have created a space that is sociable, functional and timeless. We worked with the builders and designed and implemented the project from concept right through to completion.

A sister home to DreamDesign 44, DreamDesign 45 is a new farmhouse that fits right in with the historic character of Ortega. A detached two-car garage sits in the rear of the property. Inside, four bedrooms and three baths combine with an open-concept great room and kitchen over 3000 SF. The plan also features a separate dining room and a study that can be used as a fifth bedroom.

Our Austin studio decided to go bold with this project by ensuring that each space had a unique identity in the Mid-Century Modern style bathroom, butler's pantry, and mudroom. We covered the bathroom walls and flooring with stylish beige and yellow tile that was cleverly installed to look like two different patterns. The mint cabinet and pink vanity reflect the mid-century color palette. The stylish knobs and fittings add an extra splash of fun to the bathroom. The butler's pantry is located right behind the kitchen and serves multiple functions like storage, a study area, and a bar. We went with a moody blue color for the cabinets and included a raw wood open shelf to give depth and warmth to the space. We went with some gorgeous artistic tiles that create a bold, intriguing look in the space. In the mudroom, we used siding materials to create a shiplap effect to create warmth and texture – a homage to the classic Mid-Century Modern design. We used the same blue from the butler's pantry to create a cohesive effect. The large mint cabinets add a lighter touch to the space.

This kitchen is a study in refined simplicity, where soft light, warm wood tones, and tailored detailing come together in a way that feels both elevated and inviting. Framed by crisp cabinetry, a rich wood hood, and understated brass accents, every element was chosen to create quiet impact. With a hidden scullery tucked beyond, the space balances beauty and function effortlessly, offering a clean, polished front-of-house feel while keeping everyday prep just out of sight.

Builder: Falcon Custom Homes Interior Designer: Mary Burns - Gallery Photographer: Mike Buck A perfectly proportioned story and a half cottage, the Farfield is full of traditional details and charm. The front is composed of matching board and batten gables flanking a covered porch featuring square columns with pegged capitols. A tour of the rear façade reveals an asymmetrical elevation with a tall living room gable anchoring the right and a low retractable-screened porch to the left. Inside, the front foyer opens up to a wide staircase clad in horizontal boards for a more modern feel. To the left, and through a short hall, is a study with private access to the main levels public bathroom. Further back a corridor, framed on one side by the living rooms stone fireplace, connects the master suite to the rest of the house. Entrance to the living room can be gained through a pair of openings flanking the stone fireplace, or via the open concept kitchen/dining room. Neutral grey cabinets featuring a modern take on a recessed panel look, line the perimeter of the kitchen, framing the elongated kitchen island. Twelve leather wrapped chairs provide enough seating for a large family, or gathering of friends. Anchoring the rear of the main level is the screened in porch framed by square columns that match the style of those found at the front porch. Upstairs, there are a total of four separate sleeping chambers. The two bedrooms above the master suite share a bathroom, while the third bedroom to the rear features its own en suite. The fourth is a large bunkroom above the homes two-stall garage large enough to host an abundance of guests.
