This residential project highlights the story of horse owners in South Florida who needed a custom 1,220-square-foot covered space for their animals. Their horses require special care and supervision, so they were looking for an alternative to a classic run-in shed that would provide their horses a space to relax and enjoy the outdoors, regardless of the weather, while staying covered when accessing the washroom located on the ground floor of the house.

James P. Rothwell designed his own home with unparalleled creativity. Every detail was inspired by James and the executed by Mantell-Hecathorn Builders with their highest quality standards and constant supervision. This home is certified high-quality, low maintenance, and durable with certified indoor air quality.

The new sunroom is an addition to the back of the house directly off the kitchen. The vaulted seamed metal roof is lined with T&G Cheery on the interior, adding warmth and drama to the room. The room can be closed off with four sliding glass doors that disappear into a wall pocket when the room is open.

"TaylorPro remodeled our kitchen, replacing cabinets, countertops and appliances. Keeping with the same footprint of our original kitchen and keeping our original travertine floors, Kerry Taylor helped us select a palette of rich, natural colors and materials--mocha-maple glazed cabinets, handsome granite and polished travertine backsplash tiles--to create a warm and beautiful new kitchen. He offered excellent design suggestions for placements of cabinetry and appliances. He recommended and implemented window trim enhancements as well as paint color and lighting design that brought the kitchen and attached family room together with a modern and very warm look. He created a rich, textured backsplash behind the stovetop that enhances the modern stainless steel vent hood. We couldn't be more pleased with the character and design of the kitchen and family room suite.
To begin with, Kerry gave us a detailed estimate covering the likely costs of labor, cabinetry, granite, tile backsplash, construction materials and appliances. His estimate for labor, granite and tile turned out to be ""spot-on"" accurate. Much to our surprise, for example, the granite slabs we selected from Daltile turned out to be exactly the price Kerry had estimated when evaluating the level of materials we would likely install in our kitchen. Kerry kept to his original labor costs, to the penny. Each week, he provided us with an invoice that showed, in percentages, exactly how much labor had been performed that week and how much remained to be done in future weeks. The amounts he charged each week for his labor were exact percentages of the amount of labor his crew had performed to that point. Though these invoices invited us to do a little math to confirm the accuracy of these percentages, Kerry's figures were consistently accurate.
The only categories in which Kerry's original estimate did not conform to the actual costs were in the areas of supplies from Home Depot (needed for the remodeling) and supplies from paint and hardware stores (needed for painting). These materials ended up costing somewhat more that Kerry had estimated. However, Kerry did provide us with receipts for all of these supplies.
Kerry's cabinet man, Jerry, made a very workable design using pre-fabricated cabinets; he then customized the sizes of at least half of these cabinets to conform to the requirements of the center island, cooktop and pantry spaces. We are very happy with the quality of the cabinets. We found the installation expertise of Jerry's installer, Gil, to be top-rate. His installation achieved a custom look and all the cupboards and drawers worked flawlessly.
Kerry's crew, Jake, Randall and Kevin, were great guys to have on site. They respected our property (and our dog) and possessed both skill and integrity. They arrived daily at the time they specified and worked tirelessly to achieve what they set out to do. We couldn't have been happier with their work. Kerry was on site frequently to supervise and coordinate their work and the work of subcontractors.
The project went quickly and efficiently, and the final result was outstanding. We recommend TaylorPro very highly."

This renovation for a young family with two boys truly reflects the essence of thoughtful design that balances aesthetics with practicality. The decision to remove two walls and replace them with beams covered in red oak veneers speaks to the family’s need for an open floor plan, ensuring important sight lines while the boys play—a perfect solution for parents who want a balance between modern living and supervision.
The arch in the range hood becomes a focal point, introducing elegance and architectural sophistication to the space, while the black gloss "handmade" herringbone backsplash tiles add a layer of dynamic texture that elevates the kitchen's design. These touches show that this renovation wasn’t just about creating a functional space, but one with character and style.
Functionality was clearly top of mind, with the focus on ample storage, modern appliances, and smart layouts. These elements allow the kitchen to meet the demands of a busy family, whether it’s for everyday meals or special gatherings. The seamless flow between the kitchen, dining room, and great room makes this space ideal for entertaining and family interaction, further enhanced by the clean, open lines.
This renovation serves as a great example of how thoughtful design can transform a home, making it not only more beautiful but also more enjoyable and efficient for day-to-day living.

A small residential, seaside property located on Fairfield Beach, Fairfield was renovated by the new owners and adapted for their active family. Barbara was the landscape architect in charge of all of the landscape elements upgrades. She designed new bluestone curving paths to access the front and side doors and designed new landscape lighting to enhance the walks. The existing trees were saved and she designed new shade and salt-tolerant plantings which were added to provide seasonal color and interest while respecting the existing plantings. Along the beach front additional native beach grasses were added to stabilize the dunes while removing some invasive plantings. This work will be phased over the next few years in an effort to keep the sand stable. Beach roses were incorporated into a hollow in the dunes. A small lawn area was renovated and the surrounding Black Pines pruned to provide a small play area and respite from the sun. Beautiful reblooming hydrangeas line the edge of the gravel driveway. Rounded beach stones were used instead of mulch in the island planting along the edge of the adjacent road planted with Miscanthus, Mugo pine and yucca.
Barbara designed a custom kayak rack, custom garbage enclosure, a new layout of the existing wooden deck to facilitate access to the side doors, and detailed how to renovate the front door into only an emergency access with new railings and steps.
She coordinating obtaining bids and then supervised the installation of all elements for the new landscape the project.
The interiors were designed by Jack Montgomery Design of Greenwich, CT and NYC . Tree work was completed by Bartlett Tree Experts. Freddy’s Landscape Company of Fairfield, CT installed the new plantings, installed all the new masonry work and provides landscape maintenance services. JT Low Voltage and Electric installed the landscape lighting.

The Oliver Pool is proof that luxury and style don’t have to come with a sky-high price tag. Winner of the Greater San Antonio Builders Association’s 2025 Summit Award for Best Poolscape under $100,000, this design blends functionality, beauty, and smart use of space.
Designed by Micah Sewell and supervised by Miguel Martinez, the project transformed a modest backyard into a serene retreat. The pool’s geometric shape is softened by natural stone coping, lush landscaping, and the shade of surrounding trees, creating a private oasis perfect for both relaxation and entertaining. A tanning ledge with in-pool loungers adds a resort feel, while thoughtful layout and craftsmanship maximize every inch of the yard.
The Oliver Pool stands as a shining example of how great design and attention to detail can deliver award-winning results—without breaking the budget.

Five stars isn’t enough! Our project was to reconfigure and update the main floor of a house we recently purchased that was built in 1961. We wanted to maintain some of the unique feeling it originally had but bring it up-to-date and eliminate the closed-in rooms and downright weird layout that was the result of multiple, partial remodeling projects. We began with a long wishlist of changes which also required replacement of very antiquated plumbing, electrical wiring and HVAC. We even found a fireplace that had been walled in and needed major re-construction. Many other aspects and details on this incredible list we made included an all new kitchen layout, converting a bedroom into a master closet, adding new half-bath, completely rebuilding the master bath, and adding stone, tile and custom built cabinetry. Our design plans included many fixtures and details that we specified and required professional installation and careful handling. Innovative helped us make reasonable decisions. Their skilled staff took us through a design process that made sense. There were many questions and all were answered with sincere conversation and positive – innovation – on how we could achieve our goals. Innovative provided us with professional consultants, who listened and were courteous and creative, with solid knowledge and informative judgement. When they didn’t have an answer, they did the research. They developed a comprehensive project plan that exceeded our expectations. Every item on our long list was checked-off. All agreed on work was fulfilled and they completed all this in just under four months. Innovative took care of putting together a team of skilled professional specialists who were all dedicated to make everything right. Engineering, construction, supervision, and I cannot even begin to describe how much thanks we have for the demolition crew! Our multiple, detailed project designs from Raul and professional design advice from Mindy and the connections she recommended are all of the best quality. Diego Jr., Trevor and his team kept everything on track and neat and tidy every single day and Diego Sr., Mark, Ismael, Albert, Santiago and team are true craftsmen who follow-up and make the most minuscule woodworking details perfect. The cabinets by Tim and electrical work and installation of fixtures by Kemchan Harrilal-BB and Navindra Doolratram, and Augustine and his crew on tile and stone work – all perfection. Aisling and the office crew were always responsive to our calls and requests. And of course Clark and Eric who oversaw everything and gave us the best of the best! Apologies if we didn’t get everyone on this list – you’re all great! Thank you for your hard work and dedication. We can’t thank you enough Innovative Construction – we kind of want to do it again!

Significant Homes LLC
VanderHorn Architects
From grand estates, to exquisite country homes, to whole house renovations, the quality and attention to detail of a "Significant Homes" custom home is immediately apparent. Full time on-site supervision, a dedicated office staff and hand picked professional craftsmen are the team that take you from groundbreaking to occupancy. Every "Significant Homes" project represents 45 years of luxury homebuilding experience, and a commitment to quality widely recognized by architects, the press and, most of all....thoroughly satisfied homeowners. Our projects have been published in Architectural Digest 6 times along with many other publications and books. Though the lion share of our work has been in Fairfield and Westchester counties, we have built homes in Palm Beach, Aspen, Maine, Nantucket and Long Island.

Located near one of Houston’s busy shopping districts, the project consists of a full renovation of the hardscape around and existing pool back yard. The challenge for this project was inserting detailed exterior wood work into an existing yard and outdoor space. Connecting the house to the pool to the fence and the yard required quality craftsmanship and careful supervision. We worked closely with the client and landscape architect to develop the details to make it happen.
The hardscape renovation makes extensive use of Thermory, a thermally modified wood product, around the existing pool and fence. SYNLawn synthetic grass was installed to cover the existing concrete driveway, thereby creating a much more useable yard space.
Thoughtful lighting design makes the project come alive in the evening and highlights the warm wood feature wall and other areas around the pool.
