The Upcycle Ottoman is upholstered using a supply of surplus jute bags previously used to transport organic coffee beans. The durable bags, which would otherwise be thrown away, have been repurposed to make an original accent piece. The jute features graphic stencils and logos which identified the original goods, making each ottoman completely unique. What was once an unfinished, bare, cluttered, cold laundry and mud room was converted into an organized, attractive, functional and adaptive space. A bamboo laundry folding or craft table has hinged legs that fold under the table allowing the table to hinge down flat against the wall vastly opening the space for everyday use. Fold down laundry drying racks above the table will also lay flat against the wall. Bead board walls hide large storage closets. Bead board doors blend in and when opened LED light strips illuminate large sport gear bag shelving, closet rods for out of season jackets. Other closets also hide an electrical panel, water heater, water softener and provide rough storage of softener salt, house paints and other unsightly but needed items. The built in washer and dryer are conveniently raised with laundry basket storage underneath and laundry supply cabinets above. A built in mud room cubbie and bench are in the back right. An efficient electric panel heater hangs on the wall to the left. To the left of the W/D and out of view is a built in dog wash that doubles as a utility sink as well as an additional closet for ironing board and supplies. The flooring is a 3/4" thick rubber mat tile with a raised dimple pattern designed for athletic rooms that is durable yet soft and warm to walk on even with bare feet.

A highly functional mudroom entryway designed to streamline everyday comings and goings, this space sits just off the garage entry for maximum convenience. A built-in bench creates a comfortable spot to sit while removing shoes, with deep drawers below to neatly store footwear and keep clutter out of sight. Above, a row of sturdy hooks offers easy access for bags, umbrellas, and keys—keeping daily essentials right where you need them. Flanking the bench, full-height cabinetry and additional upper cabinets provide generous storage for everything from cleaning supplies to seasonal gear and household overflow. The result is a clean, organized drop zone that blends practicality with a polished, custom look—perfect for busy households that want both style and efficiency right at the door.

Having previously partnered with Drury Design on a kitchen remodel, these homeowners once again turned to Senior Designer Samantha Schoell to help them rethink how their home could better support the way they actually live. What began as a conversation about adding some cabinetry quickly evolved into a comprehensive storage solution — one designed to accommodate everything from groceries and sports equipment to pet supplies and everyday household essentials. Design Objectives: Create Organization: Consolidate pantry overflow, household supplies, and everyday essentials into a single, highly functional space. Support Family Life: Provide dedicated storage for coats, bags, sports equipment, and the routines of an active household. Accommodate Pets: Incorporate thoughtful features for the family’s dogs while maintaining a clean, organized appearance. Maximize Existing Space: Transform an underutilized room without expanding the home’s footprint. Maintain Flexibility: Preserve the room’s long-term versatility and appeal for future homeowners. Design Challenges: Multiple Functions: The room was being used simultaneously as a home office, pantry, storage area, and pet space without a cohesive organizational strategy. Insufficient Pantry Storage: The nearby pantry closet had become overcrowded and difficult to navigate. Visual Clutter: Everyday items, pet supplies, and household necessities lacked dedicated storage locations. Unused Potential: Despite its generous size, the room was not contributing meaningfully to the home’s overall functionality. The bathroom was a challenge, we needed to fit ten pounds in a five pound bag. This is the family's only main floor bath and we needed to incorporate a laundry area. The vanities matched the kitchen cabinetry and the countertop was a custom color in granite cultured marble. The cabinets are Northern Classic in Espresso hand wiped stain on Hickory. The flat panel doors and slab drawer front keep this looking sleek and clean. High contrast, simple lines and rich texture bring this small kitchen together in style. The Langlade door style by Northern Classic Cabinetry is a nice craftsman style cabinet door with a 45 degree bevel which allows for easy cleaning. The cabinets are loaded with upgrades- solid wood dovetail drawers with full extension glides and soft-close feature, a lazy bill, two tiered wood cutlery tray, double waste recycle cabinet, lazy susan, tip out sink front, deep pots and pan drawers and roll out trays. Corian Witch Hazel was used for the countertops and the window sill which also makes cleaning and maintenance a breeze. The beauty of using Corian is the seamlessness- the integral kitchen sink is seamless- no gunk building up around any edges. The small peninsula offers seating for 2- perfect for breakfast.
