This stunning kitchen in Wheathampstead was designed to meet the needs of a large extended family, creating a space that is not only practical but also radiates style and sophistication.
To bring this vision to life, we used the Omega Signature range in Indigo Blue. We paired this timeless classic cabinetry with elegant gold handles for a bold yet refined aesthetic.
The worktops feature 60/20mm Arabescatto Quartz, supplied by Algarve Granite, offering a striking focal point with its dramatic veining and undeniable wow factor.
Dedicated zones such as a bespoke breakfast unit and a cleverly designed larder ensure that storage is both functional and hidden, maintaining a clean and uncluttered look.
For a modern touch, we incorporated integrated appliances from Miele and Siemens, offering the high-performance functionality the client desired. A Blanco sink and Quooker tap were also included to enhance convenience and practicality.
The client envisioned a multifunctional family hub with ample storage, high-end appliances, and a luxurious finish that would make an immediate impression—and this kitchen delivers exactly that.

"Kerry was invited to our house to bid on our kitchen remodel in August 2012. We were impressed with his courtesy and professionalism from the start. His estimates were prompt and changes to the scope of work were ready the next day. After we went on vacation for a month, we started work in October. The scope of work included: he removed the counter tops, sink, plumbing, all base and wall cabinets, appliances, french doors and backsplashes. He replaced all switches and outlets, and stops on the water supply. He repaired some damaged drywall. Kerry helped us with our cabinet and granite countertop selection and oversaw their installation within the existing footprint. He installed a stainless undermount sink, garbage disposal, faucet, drain plumbing, and airgap. Our experience with Kerry and his crew was positive from start to finish. Everyone was courteous, prompt, and professional. The work was completed in a timely manner and right on the original estimate. Most importantly, the kitchen is absolutely beautiful. Everytime someone comes over they just say "wow, what a great kitchen!" We highly recommend TaylorPro for anyone looking for an excellent, quality kitchen remodel.

Kitchen remodeling inspirations come from a variety of sources including cultural backgrounds, idealistic ideas, up and coming trends, and personal needs. This kitchen remodel was inspired by a faulty microwave. So the start of the journey was not as elegant as the final destination, but it makes for a great story. Oh, and the final destination included 3 bath remodels too! LOL

Home offices have now become staples in most households around the world offering people a space to work and be productive day in and day out. How circumstances have changed! In this day and age, many do not have to leave their houses to reach their workplace. This particular office space was once an unused bedroom. Identical custom built-ins house printers and office supplies. They were installed on both sides for added storage. Solid wood shelves supported by custom black metal brackets display fun memorabilia and ornaments. They also complete the symmetry look. One of the home owners’ requisites was to have a place for visitors to stay overnight. This beautiful chair opens into a one-person bed for convenience. A new light fixture, a double barn door, an area rug, two computer chairs, and two desk lamps complete the look. If you are fortunate enough to have your own office space in your home, kudos to you. Grab a coffee and get to work!

Jackie and Sean loved the Algonquin neighborhood they lived in with the peaceful neighborhood and the close proximity to work and school. What they didn’t love was how outdated their home had become. With a cramped kitchen and an unused dining room, they decided a remodel was the perfect solution to their problem. They would be able to continue to live in the area they loved, while at the same time they could have the dream home they envisioned.
After a thorough search, Jackie came across Advance Design Studio. She was impressed by all of the positive reviews she saw on the internet and saw herself identifying with all of the project stories she saw on the website. Once they met with designer Scott Christensen and owner Todd Jurs, they knew Advance Design was the right company to make their dreams a reality.
The project consisted of four main areas: the kitchen/dining/powder room, the laundry room, the master bathroom, and the kid’s bathroom. They wanted to expand the kitchen into the seldom used dining room and add a large island for hosting parties and family gatherings. They also wanted new hardwood flooring throughout the first level. The laundry room needed to be more functional, and all three bathrooms were in dire need of updating.
The closed off kitchen was opened up to create a sweeping space between the new eating area and the much larger kitchen. A handsome dry bar complete with a beverage refrigerator and lighted glass door cabinetry makes an elegant transition across from a peninsula area filled with storage. An additional decorative cabinet lighting up elegant dishware through the mullioned glass sits directly across from the drybar.
An expansive island was critical to the kitchen plans. Jackie, Sean and Scott worked closely together to create just the right details for their design. They wanted the island to be functional in addition to being the centerpiece of the room. Added storage for the kid’s school supplies was hidden behind cabinet doors so the children could do their schoolwork right at the island, and a microwave drawer glides open with the touch of a finger hidden inconspicuously within the island space. The easy to care for Cambria Britannica Quartz island top with its sweeping grey and white marble look perched atop hand-carved Craftsman corbels was absolutely what they were hoping for, blending both beauty and function perfectly.
Adding a nice contrast to the brightness of the quartz and the white cabinetry, Kodiak - Leather granite countertops were used to balance the light and dark tones of the space. Dura Supreme Classic White painted cabinets grace the perimeter, while Maple Poppy Seed stained cabinets with a beautiful soft grey woodgrain were used in the beverage center and island. The two tones compliment the large space balancing it out nicely creating interest and elegance with the simple Craftsman style full overlay doors.
A deep warm Barnwood White Oak flooring was added throughout the lower level. The new floor brings additional contrast to the bright kitchen and provides unity with the now open floorplan as it rolls in to the foyer and family room. Final details like the show-stopping lunar like duo light fixtures complete the space and intermix expertly with crisscross details of the glass door mullions, the island bar seating and even accessories in the space.
The small cluttered laundry room needed more space and more storage. With a busy family it seemed to overflow daily and did not have anywhere to hide the families “in and out stuff.” Scott designed the new space with a stackable washer and dryer and much more efficiently organized cabinetry. Doing laundry is now (almost!) a pleasure and keeping everyone’s “stuff” hidden, but readily accessible is now a snap.
The master bath was not a place where the couple enjoyed spending time getting ready for their day. The tub almost never was used, so removing it made it possible to build an extra-large shower, replacing the small cramped cube of the previous shower they hated. Clean, horizontal lines softly draw your eye around the space with porcelain tile called Driftwood Sea spray. Full overlay cabinetry in a soft white vanity with double sinks makes getting ready for the day much more convenient for the busy couple.
Long floor planks made of porcelain tile mimic real hardwood floors in a soft grey to compliment the shower, but with the ease and care of a tile surface. Cambrian Black Granite counters with a matte finish and under mount porcelain sinks with handsome brushed chrome hardware complete the handsome space. A real bonus in any master bath; a custom built in storage nook was tucked in the corner of the space for linens and heavenly storage.
The kid’s bath was in sad shape because it was original to the house. To keep the budget in control, the tub which was in great condition was retained, but focus was on the new large brick style porcelain charcoal tile on the floor, crisp white new Craftsman style cabinetry with pretty furniture details on the corner base, a striking granite top with white under mount porcelain sinks and fresh hardware and faucets. Some beautiful soft grey wood mirrors to match mom and dads were custom sized and placed under new lighting, and 4 hooks were smartly arranged down the wall for kids’ towels.
This couple was determined not to move, and made their house their dream home. Not only does their home function greatly now, but Jackie says, “When the neighbors come to visit, they’re asking if they can “steal” the design”! The added functionality, elegance, and open floor plan were exactly what this family needed in order to stay.
Advance Design Studio, Joe Nowak

Beautiful and unique patio entry gate makes quite an impression! Long-lasting, durable materials will ensure that this gate will last for years to come.

The project includes turnkey construction of the entire architectural space, where the large open space is divided into functional areas – dining and living – by an impressive composition with a T layout that includes the kitchen with island, the living room furniture, and the equipped wall.
On linear composition, the kitchen with central island, developed on T45 model, is entirely in Gres Laminam Noir Desir, upon request of the customer. The material continuously covers the sides, the T45 drawer fronts, bins, and storage compartments, and the worktop incorporating a filo top hob and a built-in Gres sink. The painted structure in metal effect creates a linear contrast design that frames the doors and fronts.
The composition of columns, designed on model D90, has a natural Birch structure and front elements in Noce Canaletto with an inside handle. The set-up is punctuated by the alternation between storage compartments and appliances supplied such as a fridge column, thermo-regulated cellar with glass door, and ovens columns. The backlit glass cabinet on the bronze structure adds particular charm to the composition, while the retractable doors give access to the auxiliary work area. The cabinets above the ovens are in continuity with the columns and their opening is facilitated by a push & pull mechanism.
To delimit the functional space of the two rooms, a central wall has been created with doors in bronzed glass on both sides. Developed on model D90, it has structure and paneling in Noce Canaletto, while internal shelves, equipped with LED lighting, are made of glass.
The large open module features asymmetric composition compared to the central module in gres which houses the wood fireplace and home entertainment.
The alternation between drawers, storage compartments with flap doors, and open compartments of various heights create a compositional elegance.
In continuity with the kitchen furniture, in the living room, a built-in area cabinet has been realized with lower doors in the T45 model, an intermediate suspended unit with flap doors and LED lighting and an upper bookcase unit.

The contrast of the light and dark minimalist design of this kitchen allows the beauty of the natural surroundings to shine through.
The sleek black framed glass cabinets and gray backsplash color scheme in this kitchen creates a bold and sophisticated look that is sure to impress. The marble countertop with built-in stove and cabinetry, and dark wood extension table in this kitchen create not only a luxurious high-end look, but a functional and well thought out kitchen as well.
By Darash supplies a wide range of fabulous European kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, and closets while offering custom design services and installation.

LEED Certification level: lEE FOR HOMES (V.3),SILVER
In Oct 8,2015, USGBC honored a Brazilian Project with the First LEED FOR HOMES certificate of Brazil, awarded with a high Silver score, ((81.5 final ptos - 12.5( HSA) resulting 69 ptos)) due to green strategies applied in different areas of construction. This outstanding result could only be achieved with the collaboration of a well-integrated team of professionals, focused on unifying solutions suitable to all areas of construction, with materials that provide high efficiency and counted on an experienced and dedicated team, the support given by homeowner during entire process was essential to success of this project.
The owner, who embraced LEED concepts, found his incentive on his granddaughter, who must have the opportunity to grow in an environment with availability of all natural resources, and endeavored to gather the team and to find solutions that best fit each opportunity.
The consequence of this work was an exceptional residence, being an impressive showcase of green building strategies that have come together in a home. Alphaville Dom Pedro Residence, as the project was named, sets an example of quality and sustainability, achieving new standards required by condominium rules of construction in Campinas city, 80 miles from São Paulo, state's capital capital.
The construction was managed by LCP Engineering & Construction, using the innovative Ecogrid® technology, based on SCIP (Structured Concrete Insulated Panel) construction, which provided this home a high thermal-acoustic performance, reduction on waste generation during construction and minimal energy consumption. Furthermore, this project was planned to take full advantage of the sun’s potential, through the usage of solar and photovoltaic panels, designed to produce the energy needed to heat all water from house and pool, as well as generate part of the electricity consumed.
Being one of the most treasured resources, a special care was given by the project team to the water management system. Saving water plays a big role in this fascinating project: action was taken to allow all water used in showers, sinks and from the rain to be reused after the treatment through a natural process, phytoremediation by wetland, for irrigation and toilets. Also efficient faucets and showers that have a low flow rate were used. The irrigation and landscape design, fully done with native vegetation, demands a low amount of water to fuel the drip irrigation system implemented on 100% of the landscape area.
Separate zones of irrigation were installed according to watering needs, equipped with an automatic activation system, moisture sensor and pressure regulation devices, all programmed to minimize evaporation losses. Polypropylene Random Copolymer (PPR) pipes were used replacing the PVC as non-toxic material, guarantying the joints between pipes and fittings for total security system . Furthermore, a high degree of internal living quality was achieved minimizing the bacterial proliferation; mold, mildew and termite free due to the Ecogrid Technology.
All finishing used on this residence, like tiles, faucets, toilets have a high percentage of recycle materials, provided by local manufacturers, promoting the maturity of the local industries complying with the rating of the certification process.
This marvel project is extremely important to the national market, representing a significant milestone in the Latin in Brazilian Residential Building Sector, bringing the LEED for Homes certification and establishing sustainable parameters to future home builders for example:
The house produces 46% of the energy used, NET Zero,
Inverter Split air conditioning system,
100% of the hot water coming from solar panel,
PVC free, use PPR pipes,
Use phytoremediation process achieving 62% efficient water reuse,
95% efficiency in non construction waste,
Confortable and Healthy Interior Environment.
In rapids highlights,
*Inovation in the technologic process of construction , ECOGRIDE, witch besides the environmental comfort, regards for the salubrity and owner,s welfare.
*Exceeded average rates of energy efficiency with the use of photovoltaic panels, HVAC and home appliances with the inverter technology.
*Consolidated the importance of social and education environmental practices of the workers and owner.
*Reference on sustainable urban condominiums with quality and connectivity in the state of Sao Paulo and Contribute for the Brazilian market improvement and proved that actual market is already prepare to supply the sustainable construction.
But the must important was….
“Once Upon a Time“… there was a devoted grandfather, who believed in a better world for his granddaughter, seeking for solutions to leave a legacy of learning and achievements ways for future generations.
This beautiful love story has a happy ending, with the reception of First Leed For Homes Silver in Brazil and First Leed For Homes Silver in Latin America, for this wonderful residence.
A home full of love, affection and “sweet home” for many happy moments between this grandfather and his granddaughter.
