This 2022 project for Sovereign Grace Music was a full-scale, purpose-built recording and production facility designed to support songwriting, live tracking, mixing, and video content creation. Working alongside the extraordinary Sovereign Grace team—and in collaboration with Authentic Carpentry—NILES handled sound reduction, audio integration, and all acoustic treatment design and installation.
The facility features a full Control Room, a spacious Live Room, and a large Isolation Booth engineered for dry drum capture or vocal tracking during full-band sessions. Each space was crafted for accuracy, clarity, and intuitive workflow, ensuring that engineers and artists can move seamlessly between rooms without breaking creative momentum.
Clear sightlines, generous lighting, and intentional layout choices make the studio equally suited for recording and video production. Every room is wired for a plug-and-play workflow, supporting multi-camera shoots, ensemble tracking, and efficient session flow.
Behind the aesthetic, the acoustic infrastructure is highly robust. The Control Room, Live Room, and ISO Booth sit on independent floor systems with tailored sound-reducing wall assemblies and strategic treatments throughout. No suite is mechanically bonded, allowing simultaneous use of all rooms with minimal sound transmission.
Monitoring in the Control Room centers around PMC 6-2 loudspeakers, precisely tuned to ensure accurate translation from mix position to the final master.
The result is a balanced, inviting, and technically exact environment—built to serve the diverse creative needs of Sovereign Grace Music for years to come.

This 1,000ft² recording and production studio, built in 2021 for producer couple Latifah Alattas and Lucas Morton, was designed as a fully custom creative environment that supports writing, mixing, and collaboration at the highest level. Both Latifah and Lucas are multi-instrumentalists, engineers, and mixers, and the studio reflects the full range of their workflows—visually inspiring, technically precise, and intuitive in every room.
The facility was built from the ground up with a strong emphasis on architectural acoustics and plug-and-play connectivity. The layout includes two Control Rooms, multiple isolation booths, and shared common spaces, all tied together with seamless audio integration. No matter where you are in the studio, routing, monitoring, and communication remain effortless and consistent.
Behind the aesthetic, the acoustic design is exceptionally robust. Six independent floating-floor systems support the suites, ensuring each room operates with minimal sound transmission. Tailored sound-reducing wall assemblies, full-lite doors, engineered window systems, and intentional treatment plans deliver clarity, isolation, and precision for tracking and mixing. Each space is mechanically decoupled, allowing multiple rooms to run simultaneously without compromise.
For monitoring, both Latifah and Lucas chose Genelec “The Ones” series monitors with GLM calibration to ensure accurate translation and consistency across the entire facility.
Natural light and a warm, welcoming aesthetic anchor the visual identity of the studio, reflecting the creative energy and personality of its owners. The result is a highly functional, beautifully crafted space where ideas can move freely and production can happen without limitations.

The pool house is a thoughtfully designed single-story structure that complements the architecture of the main home and surrounding outbuildings. Finished in a rich, dark exterior with a matching dark shingled, pitched roof, it maintains a cohesive and refined aesthetic throughout the property.
An open-air, covered portion of the pool house is supported by dark columns, creating a shaded retreat ideal for lounging, dining, or gathering out of the sun. Adjacent to this space is an enclosed area—designed for convenience and functionality—that likely includes a full bathroom, making poolside living effortless and comfortable.
Integrated seamlessly into the landscape, the pool house is surrounded by curated rock gardens and layered plantings that soften the structure and enhance its connection to the outdoor environment. The result is a functional yet elegant poolside amenity that elevates both everyday enjoyment and entertaining.

Designed for effortless entertaining, this space prioritizes abundant seating and the creation of distinct, intimate conversation zones throughout the room. Thoughtfully arranged furnishings encourage social flow and flexibility, ensuring the environment adapts seamlessly to both small gatherings and larger-scale hosting. Breezy white lounge chairs offer exceptional comfort, enhanced with tailored lumbar pillows that introduce additional support while maintaining a light, relaxed aesthetic.
A tufted bench positioned by the French doors adds versatile, movable seating that can be easily incorporated during parties, reinforcing the room’s adaptability and hospitality-focused design. This multifunctional approach ensures every square foot is optimized for comfort, circulation, and guest engagement.
Original drapery hardware was intentionally preserved to frame the windows, adding architectural definition and continuity to this elevation of the room. The retained detailing subtly accentuates the window proportions while balancing the updated furnishings, resulting in a layered interior that blends curated new elements with meaningful existing character.

This early-70’s floating home was purchased by a recently returned Santa Barbara native looking for a home that would mesh with his active and creative lifestyle. However, weakened by over 50 years of exposure to a marine environment, the craft needed significant updates to its flotation system, structural framing, walls, and interior.
Inspired by the dwellings of coastal Swedish towns, Archipelago Workshop provided iterative design concepts, structural engineering guidance, technical drawings, and no small amount of moral support as the owner and his father addressed 40-plus years of deferred maintenance.
The fully redesigned two-story dwelling is highly crafted using a ship builder’s mindset. At the center core of the plan’s pinwheel design, a stairwell creates vertical circulation and delineates the long axes that define the highly rectilinear design. Mindfully placed windows enhance both privacy and views and capitalize on prevailing winds. With a first-floor design studio that also houses his surfboard collection, it is now the perfect live-work space for its adventuresome owner and guests.

NYC designer Megan Pflug and her husband J. Penry purchased a 1962 mid-century lodge in Greenville, New York and revived the tired property to become the Woodhouse Lodge. Threading through it all are natural materials reflective of the environment, starting with the soapstone countertops quarried in Virginia and then fabricated on site with nothing more than a steel straight edge, a measuring tape, a wet saw and a few other basic tools. "In decorating the space, we were really interested in working with a lot of local vendors and makers," Pflug said. "I thought it was really cool that we were able to source soapstone from the east coast. I also think that regional materials are often the most appropriate choice. If I was in Santa Fe, maybe soapstone wouldn't make the most sense architecturally."
Like Pflug, Hudson Valley based fabricator Anson R. Tollefson, of A.R.T. Restoration and Remodeling, has a background in art. Working with just two slabs of Alberene Soapstone, Tollefson, crafted the countertops, backsplash, shelving and supports. A job he describes as, “Like a very heavy puzzle.”

This bright and airy artist’s studio exemplifies the harmony of Santa Fe Style Architecture with modern functionality, designed by a thoughtful Santa Fe Architect to support creativity and connection to nature. Expansive windows flood the space with natural light, highlighting the exposed beams, plaster walls, and warm wood finishes that honor the traditions of Adobe Architecture while embracing the comfort and efficiency of Sustainable Architecture New Mexico. The custom layout reflects the principles of Custom Residential Design Santa Fe, balancing proportion, materiality, and context to create a studio that feels both rooted in heritage and inspired by contemporary living. This project demonstrates how architecture can seamlessly merge artistry, tradition, and environment into an exceptional creative retreat.

A terrace patio scene from 2007, with the old boho rocking chair design.
An all purpose swing chair for indoors and outdoors. Made from luxury cushioned fabrics in an ergonomic form your body molds itself too, while you gently tap the upright, rocking you effotlessly back and forth, your legs suspended, your body supported.
The Bohorockers Swing Chair compliments every environment it rocks in. Designed to withstand the rigours of family life and be a space of calm, to find shelter and recalibrate.
The Bohorocker is suited to life on the patio and balcony as much as in the nursery as a baby chair and as the baby grows the rocker moves to the playroom as a kids chair, becoming a constant space through life to find comfort and support.
Boho rockers takes the rocking chair concept to its maximum. Hand crafting a chair using luxury weather resistant fabrics, cushioning, a wide sitting postion and an integrated fabric leg extension to sit or fully recline up to 210cm. The unique string lengths of the chair creates a cocoon form your body naturally molds into. Your lower back supported, your legs suspended in front of you, your feet at the same height as your heart, your head gently cushioned in a slightly more upright postion, to be able to read or look out on a view, suspended, floating, timeless in a dream.
Bohorockers Swing 2018 self supporting stand allows you to hang your rocker on the deck and by the pool, where hanging from above is not possible. Made from zinc and powder coated mild steel and an oiled wood footplate. It has a load bearing strength, maximum weight of 175kgs, is easy to erect, stable when swinging and robust in all weather.
Easy to get in and out. The Rocker needs no maintenance and can fold up small. The elegant style and subtle design of the swing chair compliments the furniture it hangs loose with.
