this indoor tree house provides
entertainment, fun and a place for
children to read about or imagine
adventures through time. A blue sky,
green meadows, and distant matching
beech trees recreate the magic of Jack
and Annie’s Frog Creek, and help bring
the characters from the series to life.
FOCUS A floor armoire, ceiling swing
and climbing rope give the structure
a true tree house look and feel. A
drop-down drawing and writing table,
wheeled work table and recessed
ceiling lights ensure the room can be
used for more than play. The tree house
has electric interior lighting, a window
to the outdoors and a playful sliding
shutter over a window to the room. The
armoire forms a raised, nine-foot-wide
play area, while a TV within one of the
wall’s floor-to-ceiling cabinets — with
a delightful sliding ladder — transforms
the room into a family theater perfect
for watching movies and holding Wii
competitions.
STORAGE The bottom of the drawing
table is a magnetic chalk board that
doubles as a display for children’s art
works. The tree’s small niches are for
parents’ shoes; the larger compartment
stores children’s shoes and school
bags. Books, games, toys, DVDs, Wii
and other computer accessories are
stored in the wall cabinets. The armoire
contains two spacious drawers and
four nifty hinged storage bins. A rack of
handy “vegetable buckets” above the
armoire stores crayons, scissors and
other useful items.
GROWTH The room easily adapts
from playroom, to party room, to study
room and even to bedroom, as the tree
house easily accommodates a twin-size
mattress.
SAFETY The rungs and rails of the
ladder, as well as the grab bars beside
the tree house door are wrapped
with easy-grip rope for safe climbing.
The drawing table has spring-loaded
hinges to help prevent it from dropping
dangerously from the wall, and the
table door has double sets of locks
up top to ensure safety. The interior of
each storage compartment is carpeted
like the tree house floor to provide extra

We gutted the kitchen and closed off the landing through the door to the garage to create a new pantry. A frosted glass pocket door eliminates door swing issues. In the pantry, a small access door opens to the garage so groceries can be loaded easily. Grey wood-look tile was laid everywhere.
We replaced the small window and added a 6’x4’ window, instantly adding tons of natural light. A modern motorized sheer roller shade helps control early morning glare. Three free-floating shelves are to the right of the window for favorite décor and collectables.
White, ceiling-height cabinets surround the room. The full-overlay doors keep the look seamless. Double dishwashers, double ovens and a double refrigerator are essentials for this busy, large family. An induction cooktop was chosen for energy efficiency, child safety, and reliability in cooking. An appliance garage and a mixer lift house the much-used small appliances.
An ice maker and beverage center were added to the side wall cabinet bank. The microwave and TV are hidden but have easy access.
The inspiration for the room was an exclusive glass mosaic tile. The large island is a glossy classic blue. White quartz countertops feature small flecks of silver. Plus, the stainless metal accent was even added to the toe kick!
Upper cabinet, under-cabinet and pendant ambient lighting, all on dimmers, was added and every light (even ceiling lights) is LED for energy efficiency.

Susan Yeley HomesA departure from the ordinary box, this angular home is nestled in a forest-like setting. This young professional couple fell for its big open living space and good bones, and made the house theirs when they moved to Bloomington in 2015. Though the space was defined by interesting angles and a soaring ceiling, natural light and that beautiful tall stone fireplace, it was outdated. Some spaces were oddly chopped off and others were too open to use well.In the end, SYI did what we don't usually do: put up walls instead of taking them down. (Well, to be fair, we put up some and took down others.) A brand new kitchen anchors the space for these avid cooks, while new walls define a walk-in pantry, office nook and reading space. The new walls also help define the home’s private spaces—they tuck a powder room and guest room away down a hall, so they aren't awkwardly right off the living space. Unifying floor and finishes but breaking up the palette with punches of color, SYI transformed the lofty room to a space that is timeless in both style and layout.

TRS Designs, Inc (Kitchens, Baths, & More)This beautiful house in an amazing neighborhood was originally built with an underwhelming kitchen. The remodel of this space involved changing a few things to allow the kitchen you see here.
We changed a sliding door to a smaller single swinging door, enlarged the window, removed a non-load bearing, decorative column and a flow restricting half wall. All off those changes as well as stealing 6.5' of the 3 car, garage allowed this kitchen to become this homes star of the show!!
