This chic/contemporary spiral staircase was designed for a working mom. After a long day of work she loves to have friends over & sip champagne and wine in this open concept space, while still being able to see her children. In this space, you will also see the formal family room, living room, the kitchen, and the dining room. Wallpaper was added to the staircase walls to give the space texture and depth. we wanted to preserve the mid-century modern feel (talk about a real flashback!), and boy, do we love the results! This kitchen is another perfect example of a project where we did the “lipstick and make-up” – another term for replacing the more cosmetic features such as countertops, backsplash, and the door and drawer fronts. Even doing so, the resulting kitchen leaves us with a breath of fresh air! To learn more about this space, continue reading below: Cabinetry To start, we removed the soffit in the kitchen making the space look taller. Next, we did not rip out the cabinetry boxes, because we were inspired by the finish and look of what existed. Maintaining the finish of the cabinets helped preserve the retro feel and is a good example of repurposing what you already have! As a result, we replaced the door and drawer fronts with a new slab style in a matching medium stain. In addition to the cabinetry fronts, we installed floating shelves – a perfect spot to display! Countertops For countertops we wanted something light and bright, and also something that would look good with the other finishes. As a result, we kept it simple with a light and bright surface from Caesarstone in the color “Blizzard” Backsplash Now for a little fun and a pop of color, the tile. The tile we selected is fresh, exciting, and also ties everything together giving that mid-century modern feel. In a brick-lay installation, we have a Glazzio Crystile Series, in a 4×12 size, with a finish of Soft Mint. Fixtures and Fittings Completing the space, we finished the cabinetry with U-Turn knob’s on the doors, and U-turn pulls on the drawers. Then from Blanco, we have a Quatrus stainless steel sink and a Culina mini faucet in satin nickel.

Talking about classic style, we continue with this dining area where different woods, different textures, and colors are displayed; all mixed together achieving an aesthetic and elegant space. The furniture helps to maintain the style and makes the most of the space. The window treatment in the back also stands out with its color and textures that enhance the fabrics used. All with an exquisite sense of functionality to achieve perfect harmony with decorative objects. ¡¡¡El comedor!!! Hablando de estilo clásico, continuamos con esta zona de comedor donde se muestran diferentes maderas, diferentes texturas y colores; todo mezclado entre sí logrando un espacio estético y elegante. El mobiliario ayuda a mantener el estilo y aprovecha al máximo el espacio. El tratamiento de las ventanas en la parte trasera también destaca por su color y texturas que realzan los tejidos utilizados. Todo ello con un exquisito sentido de la funcionalidad para conseguir una perfecta armonía con los objetos decorativos.

This complete room design was featured in Annapolis Home Magazine Design Talk. The varying lines of the vaulted ceiling, the lower soffet and windows created a challenge of designing a room that feels balanced. We began by creating a strong architectural line around the room starting with new built-ins flanking the fireplace and continued with the decorative drapery rod of the custom window treatments. The woven wood roman shades and drapery panels were designed and installed to give the illusion of larger and taller windows. A room refresh included updating the wall color to an on trend millennial pink, a neutral gray tweed sofa, a subtle but fun pattern for their accent chairs, and a beautiful wool and silk rug to anchor the seating area. New lamps, coffee table, and accent tables with metallic, glass, and marble connect beautifully with the fireplace’s new stone surround.
