A young family of four recently purchased a home with an unfinished basement. Each member of the family had their own opinion of how to use the space: dad wanted a music room, mom loves to dance and have parties, and the children wanted a media/game room where they could hang out with their friends. Fortunately, the basement was big enough to meet all their needs. The renovation includes a secluded sound proof music room that doubles as an office, a home gym with full-length mirrors and a multi-purpose area for dancing and entertaining. A full bar area with sink, dishwasher, microwave, wine cooler and under-the-counter refrigerator features granite countertops and custom cabinetry. Complete with high-back bar stools, it is a great gathering space during the parties the family loves to host. The focal point of the basement is a gas fireplace with ledger stone surround. Mood lighting, sconces, pendants, recessed lights and a disco ball provide plenty of lighting options. Last, but not least, is a high-tech media room with 110” large screen television. Let the games begin!

Jewett Farms + Co’s Reclaimed Antique Historic Wide Plank flooring is harvested from century old barns and wooden industrial structures. Antique historic plank truly captures the feel of reclaimed flooring material. With a rich mixture of hardwoods these boards are wonderfully eye catching and make for a unique floor, wall or ceiling solution. Our Reclaimed Antique Historic Plank flooring features a blend of band and circular saw marks and the marks of many years of use. The blend of species results in a rich mixture of grain and varied light and dark colors. These characteristics are seen in addition to the more common reclaimed traits of sound knots, cracks, saw kerfs, insect marks and nail holes. Jewett Farms + Co’s Reclaimed Antique Historic Wide Plank flooring is available to be shipped throughout the United States from our New England headquarters.

A hotel inspired guest bedroom with soft tones and custom luxury bedding leads out to a private patio with lots of plants and contemporary outdoor furniture. The headboard wall is covered with metallic horsehair wallpaper. The geometric headboard is two toned, with gray and black, adding to the contemporary feel of the bedroom. Two identical mercury lamps sit atop the side tables, one glass and metal and one painted wood to match the bed. A white wing chair in the corner sits below a large piece of colorful art, the perfect spot to relax in the afternoon. Custom white bedding has a tan accent trim and a dark brown velvet neck roll. Crystal drapery hardware adds a touch of elegance to the casual striped linen sheers, which flank the patio French doors. Photography by Erika Bierman
