This was a complete gut renovation of the 30,000 sf interior of the Landmark American Bank Note Building in lower Manhattan. A retired teacher and grandmother, our client raised her family in this Valley view home. With amazing potential for an enhanced territorial view, this project had been on our client’s mind for quite some time. She was very particular in selecting us as her design and build team. With deep roots in her community, it was important to her that she works with a local community-based team to design a new space, while respecting its roots and craftsmanship, that her late husband had helped build.

The best features of this loft were formerly obscured by its worst. While the apartment has a rich history—it’s located in a former bike factory, it lacked a cohesive floor plan that allowed any substantive living space. A retired teacher rented out the loft for 10 years before an unexpected fire in a lower apartment necessitated a full building overhaul. He jumped at the chance to renovate the apartment and asked InSitu to design a remodel to improve how it functioned and elevate the interior. We created a plan that reorganizes the kitchen and dining spaces, integrates abundant storage, and weaves in an understated material palette that better highlights the space’s cool industrial character.

The school chose Playground Grass Extreme for their two large playgrounds, which are shaded by beautiful mature trees and are set on a hill overlooking Lake Highland. The Playground Grass provides a soft, springy surface that gives parents and teachers peace of mind that the children are safe when playing on the playground.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT: On a tight timeline from the sale of their beachfront home, the Owner's purchased this premium 4000 sqft penthouse condo on the ocean at Jacksonville Beach with the need to update quickly. FINISH WORK: The couple appreciated the pre-construction planning, drawings and construction which ended on time as promised for their move in date. Good projects are well thought out and reflected in the finished results. THE UPDATE: The flooring is a mix of blond oak engineered planks and Italian travertine in the hallways along with new millwork/baseboards and trims. . As avid readers, new custom cabinetry entertainment/ media and bookcases were added and a full house paint-out was made with specialty finishes to the vestibule foyer. They valued their old home's pantry system, so we made a custom version to fit their new space and added lighting, a wine "cellar" with a eurocave and added an exercise room with additional soundproofing for those in residence below. 2012 NARI CAPITAL COTY, MERIT AWARD WINNER, RESIDENTIAL BATH UNDER $30,000 This piano teacher lives in a small townhouse on a beautiful lake in Reston, Virginia. While the home has a lot to offer, the third level master bath has always been a major issue. While small and confined, the design team at Michael Nash Design, Build & Homes felt it had potential. By making better use of its sloped room and finding a bit of added space in an adjacent attic, the new design can truly be called a master bathroom. The homeowner’s wish list included a large shower, a soaking tub and a long vanity with two sinks. With a built-in shower bench, storage niches, and a frameless glass enclosure, the new shower transformed the space. The soaker tub and judicious use of multi-colored tile emphasizes the contemporary flair the design has achieved. The client greatly enjoys her dream bathroom. She has achieved her ultimate goal of large, usable bathroom with lots of amenities.

This storage cabinetry was built for a young teacher who is very committed to her profession - teaching. She had accumulated many teaching materials that she used on a regular basis and really needed proper storage space. She needed storage that would let her get her materials organized and be easily accessible to her. When all was said and done she was more than pleased!! Check out our review from "Cooper82".

The goal for this project was to design a space that empowers girls and provides a sense of community among its context. The design formalizes the informal by emphasizing the spaces in-between, derived from the happenstance moments that occur between formal spaces throughout the site. The multi-purpose hall consists of angled rammed earth and CSEB walls, which vary in thickness to allow for inhabitation and framed views. The interstitial spaces created between the walls allow for occasional meetings between girls, teachers, and community members who would not normally interact. These interstitial entryways vary in size and program, facilitating not only separate circulation between the primary and secondary school girls but also freedom of choice and therefore empowerment.
