This 1926 Craftsman in Petaluma needed updating while keeping the integrity of the original kitchen. Newer cabinets were added while the footprint remained close to the original including new hidden appliance centers, and a happy corner for the red hot pot with under cabinet lighting. A custom movable island / breakfast bar was built to match the cabinets painted in a soft gray. These clients came to me to make sure the finishes would connect in the room and with the rest of the home they have occupied for nearly 30 years. I chose a large rustic gray checkered patterned floor in tough porcelain for a dramatic base, with glossy gray subways over the marble look quartz. Wainscot was added to match other areas of the house and we finished it with a gentle green that compliments all their red accents. The house called out for a classic look. Now they are up to date with a newer retro feel in the kitchen, housing all of their modern features and highlighting their fiesta ware collection.

Young couple with two youngsters lived in 1970 Rambler in Arlington. As their kids growing and their nanny moving in, they all needed more space, bigger kitchen and better backyard space for kids to play.
Existing kitchen was 10’x10’ adjacent to dining room of about the same size
Old cabinets, vinyl floor and olive green appliances no longer made this kitchen a happy place to come home to
The back wall of solid block and brick and interior plaster walls where all big challenges to get rid of and opening up the place
A narrow hallway leading to bedroom was one of their major concerns and tough to get through. As the traffic path to get to the kitchen has been difficult
In few consultation session we all agreed on bumping the entire kitchen and dining room back wall and move the kitchen into new addition
This required breaking through a massive amount of cinder block and brick, leveling a majority of backyard to accomplish the desired grade level for addition and back deck
In past the only way out to backyard was through a single door of back stairway and it has been a big problem for them
With a new angle wall we have placed a large French door leading kitchen into back deck area
The old hallway wall has came down and gotten wider and new path from front to open floor plan kitchen and dining room was put in place
Another big challenge for this job was to run heating and cooling as well as plumbing into a kitchen area
The new kitchen had tall cabinets a beautiful cherry finish with a large bay window over sink area leading lot of light form back side.
New island with seating contributed to addition work space and more storage
Lot of recessed lights and a stone back splash made the project even more attractive
New wood flooring was put in place and entire Living, Dining room and kitchen was sanded and refinished to unify the space and make a seamless connection
A big wooded deck on the entire back was a place for kids to play and couple to retire and grill on their afternoons

Envision a sleek modern home in Wheat Ridge that turns an old site into a family dream. Modern Contemporary blends open living with smart features, using quality materials to create a space that's both stylish and practical in Denver's heart.
Our clients wanted a home for modern family life, near shops, Sloan’s Lake, and easy drives. Key wishes: solar for green energy, a rooftop deck with mountain sights, and big doors that open rooms to the outdoors.
A worn-out old house blocked the vision, so we removed it to build fresh. This opened up the lot for a design that's efficient and fits today's needs, turning challenges into a better way to live.
The concept focuses on clean, flowing lines – stone bases with sloped roofs, steel railings, and a kitchen that's simple yet elegant. Glass walls slide away to connect inside with a shaded deck, making everything feel expansive.
We applied modern builds for strength and style, with solar panels cutting energy use and costs. It's made to last, blending beauty with real-world toughness.
Spacious and open, with four bedrooms and baths for comfort. The main floor links living, kitchen, and deck seamlessly, while upstairs adds more outdoor space for views and relaxation.
Since 2015, this home has been a family favorite, mixing sustainability, convenience, and charm. It's a place that enhances daily joy, with thoughtful design that feels right at home in Colorado.

Wood species like cedar and redwood are beauties to behold and even in our tough Minnesota climate they hold up exceedingly well. However, there are limits as this homeowner discovered after more than 20 years of deck-life. Upon inspection we discovered not only were the deck boards showing decay, the framing and support posts also had issues. The original install at the four season porch level was also found to be done improperly, without proper flashing or clearance between decking and patio door sill and so there was considerable rot damage there as well. We repaired the connection between the 4 season porch and deck, the deck structure that was compromised, put down new cedar decking and we stained everything with Storm System Cat 2 semi-transparent cedar tone oil finish. The effect is dramatic, the look unique, and while low maintenance composites are trending, there is something to be said for going all natural.

Imagine a classic A-frame cabin reborn in Colorado's South Park, with a bold black exterior that pops against the mountains. The Colorado A-Frame brings modern flair to tradition, using big glass walls to frame epic views and create a light-filled escape that's both striking and serene.
In early 2024, our clients asked for a fresh spin on the A-frame, with black metal outside and white inside for contrast. They wanted windows that capture the mountains perfectly, plus ideas for a future "white" version – all to make a versatile, nature-connected retreat.
Getting the most from mountain views without compromising on style or strength was key. We positioned the cabin to highlight the scenery, using tough materials to handle the elements and keep the design simple yet impactful.
The concept updates the A-frame with sleek lines – black siding for a modern edge, and a soaring 23-foot great room inside. An open staircase in the center lets light and views flow between floors, making the space feel open and inviting.
We applied current building methods for durability, with corrugated metal that looks sharp and stands up to weather. The white interior keeps things bright and easy, blending old charm with new efficiency.
Downstairs: a central stair, spacious great room, kitchen with rock outcrop views, and guest bedroom with deck. Up top: loft overlooks below, mountain vistas, and master suite with private east deck – perfect for morning coffee in nature.
Kicking off in Summer 2024, this cabin is a modern mountain gem that ties tradition to today. It offers views, comfort, and flexibility, turning a simple getaway into a place full of inspiration and peace.
