The new basement is the ultimate multi-functional space. It was time for a new style for this teenager’s bedroom. She desperately needed more room for clothes while dreaming of a grown-up room with drapes and a velvet bed. Too busy with teen life to focus on working with a designer, her mother offered the general guidelines. Design a room that will transition into young adulthood with furnishings that will be transferable to her apartment in the future. Two must haves: the color “millennial pink” and a hardwood floor! The wall hung sink and wall storage cabinets provide equal access to users of all abilities. The wide ledges on either side of the sink are extra convenient for keeping grooming products and appliances closet at hand. The toilet has grab bars on two sides to assist with transferring to the toilet from a wheelchair or a standing position. The cabinet door above the grab bar provides a second access point for the linen closet that can be seen from the living room. An LED mirror provides excellent illumination for grooming and helps make the room feel bright and cheerful despite the lack of window(s).
