Converted a typical builder's grade bathroom into a minimal spa retreat. Removed the corner tub and replaced it with an alcove tub. Opened up the shower enclosure by removing the previous boxed shower enclosure and replaced with glass panel.

Waffle weave is widely considered to be one of the most absorbent weaves, so what would make more sense in the decidely damp atmosphere of the bath? This Turkish-cotton shower curtain's distinctive honeycomb pattern provides more surface area than a flat weave, all the better to wick up any splashes. It also dries extremely quickly, and looks crisp and classic.

We added a small grab bar on the right and a larger one on the back wall to make getting in and out of the tub easy and safe. On the back wall, we added a wall niche and made it level to the top of the tub to allow a deep enough space for accessories and/or a decorative touch. We added strip lighting to the inside top of that niche and dimmable lighting elsewhere to add ambiance while bathing. The bench provides dry seating and a place to put your things. And who doesn't love a great towel warmer with real Turkish Towels?

These updated rooms were medium sized remodel projects in a single family home. The bathroom... Turkish influenced ornate elegance. The kitchen... a cozy, contemporary blend of clean, modern lines and earthy Shaker warmth.
