Inspiration for a transitional kitchen remodel in Los Angeles

We decided on a retro look for our new kitchen with lots of display shelving, happy colors, laminate counters (no cracking!), a chubby old stove, period details and “linoleum” flooring.

Designed by Daniel Altmann of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Bethesda, MD this modern kitchen design in Chevy Chase, MD features kitchen cabinets from Ultracraft Cabinetry in the Apex door style in 2 finishes. The perimeter kitchen cabinets feature an Arctic White finish, whereas the kitchen island cabinets feature an Urban Grey finish. Engineered quartz kitchen countertops feature 2 finishes as well. The perimeter kitchen countertops show Cambria Charston and the kitchen island top features Stellar White by Q from MSI. Kitchen appliances are by KitchenAid. Our Clients requested a Traditional English Style Kitchen for their San Mateo County Home. We designed and fabricated the Kitchen Cabinets with traditional fine cabinetry details such as: Recessed & Raised Panel Doors set flush inset with exposed knuckle hinges, custom made moldings and fine detailing, with a complex finish that required staining the wood, then paint it, rub thru the paint in places, and then glaze and finally top coat it to re-create a fine warm Antique feeling and look. The client knew that it was about time to get a new kitchen and replace it with the original kitchen that came with the house. However, she had already bar stools in the lime mint green color, it she wanted to implement this color into the color scheme of the new kitchen design. With the ability of Alno to provide NCS colors to their collection of the smooth lacquer door style, we had created a nice balance combination between the lime mint green color and a nice arctic white color. This amazing combination of colors gave immediately a fresh clean feeling to this well designed kitchen layout. Door Style Finish: Alno Fine, smooth lacquer door style, in the white and green lime mint colors finish.

This kitchen is a prime example of beautifully designed functionality. From the spacious maple butcher block island & eating bar to the roll-up pass through window for outdoor entertaining, the space can handle whatever situation the owners throw at it. The Espresso stain on these Medallion cabinets of Cherry wood really anchors the whimsy of the yellow bar stools and the ginger-tone checkerboard Marmoleum floor. Loft apartments have always been popular and they seem to require a particular type of styled kitchen. This loft space has embraced the industrial feel with original tin exposed ceilings. The polish of the granite wall and the sleek matching granite countertops provide a welcome contrast in this industrial modern kitchen. Adding the elements of natural wood drawers inside the island is just one of the distinguished statement pieces inside the historic building apartment loft space.
