This step-down family room features a coffered ceiling and a fireplace with a black slate hearth. We made the fireplace’s surround and mantle to match the raised paneled doors on the built-in storage cabinets on the right. For a unified look and to create a subtle focal point, we added moulding to the rest of the wall and above the fireplace. Sleek and contemporary, this beautiful home is located in Villanova, PA. Blue, white and gold are the palette of this transitional design. With custom touches and an emphasis on flow and an open floor plan, the renovation included the kitchen, family room, butler’s pantry, mudroom, two powder rooms and floors. A bright and airy feel was achieved in this beautiful living room by white washing the existing ceiling decking and painting the exposed beams white. The fireplace received a facelift by cladding the outdated stone with reclaimed Driftwood planking and a solid reclaimed Douglas fir mantel by Vintage Timberworks.

To achieve the indoor/outdoor quality our client wanted, we installed multiple moment frames to carry the existing roof. It looks clean and organized in this photo but there is a lot going on in the structure. Don't be afraid to make big structural moves to achieve an open space. It is always worth it!

The side of the staircase was a natural place to create a built-in TV and entertainment center with adjustable shelving and lots of storage. The infra-red heater installed in the pavilion ceiling was purchased by the homeowners after construction had begun. The vaulted ceiling was modified on one side to receive the heating unit, while achieving an inconspicuous installation. The tongue-and-groove ceiling matches the same level of detail typically given to interior rooms.

This inviting family room was part of the addition to the home. The focal point of the room is the custom-made white built-ins. Accented with a blue back, the built-ins provide storage and perfectly frame the fireplace and mounted television. The fireplace has a white shaker-style surround and mantle and honed black slate floor. The rest of the flooring in the room is red oak with mahogany inlays. The French doors lead outside to the patio. What started as an addition project turned into a full house remodel in this Modern Craftsman home in Narberth, PA. The addition included the creation of a sitting room, family room, mudroom and third floor. As we moved to the rest of the home, we designed and built a custom staircase to connect the family room to the existing kitchen. We laid red oak flooring with a mahogany inlay throughout house. Another central feature of this is home is all the built-in storage. We used or created every nook for seating and storage throughout the house, as you can see in the family room, dining area, staircase landing, bedroom and bathrooms. Custom wainscoting and trim are everywhere you look, and gives a clean, polished look to this warm house. The project continued into the Great Room and was an exercise in creating congruent yet unique spaces with their own specific functions for the family. Cozy yet carefully curated. Refinishing of the floors and beams continued into the Great Room. To add more light, a new window was added and all existing wood window casings and sills were painted white. Additionally the fireplace received a lime wash treatment and a new reclaimed beam mantle.

This newly renovated 6 bedroom, 5.5 bath home features exquisite finishes inside and out. The exterior received a facelift from stucco to beautiful white Hardie Board, a new stone skirt, new windows, and shutters. The expansive open-concept kitchen transformation features custom cabinetry, mitered edge quartz countertops, a high-end backsplash, state-of-the art appliances, and a custom banquette. The master suite is truly a getaway featuring a soaker tub, custom fully tiled shower, and an expansive double vanity. The custom master closet features a beauty bar complete with the newest amenities. This whole-home renovation is an excellent representation of what Crawford Builders can do to bring new life to a dated space by making any space embody the perfect melody of form and function.
