The client was looking to transform her bedroom into a loft, and she found this great rustic brick pattern by York Wallcoverings. With a more weathered and old paint look, this pattern adds a lot of texture as well.

This homeowner has long since moved away from his family farm but still visits often and thought it was time to fix up this little house that had been neglected for years. He brought home ideas and objects he was drawn to from travels around the world and allowed a team of us to help bring them together in this old family home that housed many generations through the years. What it grew into is not your typical 150 year old NC farm house but the essence is still there and shines through in the original wood and beams in the ceiling and on some of the walls, old flooring, re-purposed objects from the farm and the collection of cherished finds from his travels. The generational suite living quarters includes all the amenities of a typical home – bedroom, bath, sitting room, full size kitchen, and laundry facilities. Privacy and identity for the new living quarters was important; therefore, a separate entry was desirable.

This basement remodel made a great opportunity for our Design-Build team to create a multi-generational home that in our industry is becoming more common. We converted a typical man cave type basement into this Grandmother’s oasis during this extensive remodel. By changing the bar into a kitchenette and re-purposing the exercise room as a bedroom, the space became an ideal living space. The finishing touches were an electric fireplace, a bathroom remodel and a new laundry room. Now Grandma can enjoy the space and entertain the entire family when she chooses.
