Inspiration for a cottage home design remodel in Santa Barbara

The challenge in this project was creating an attractive walkway from street level down to lake level in a tight area between a home and existing landscaping. Further complicating matters were the various location of utilities. The answer was using a modular block retaining wall product to construct this series of terrace walls with a poured concrete walkway/stairs winding through it.

The entry to our client's home is occupied by "The Road To Regina", a four-panel, 11' x 9' etched glass mural. We were asked to choose the hardware as well, and the selection of the angular hand-made bronze pulls became the focal point of the design. It emanates from the center in several one-of-a-kind textures of etched and carved techniques. The background is laid out in a grid pattern juxtaposed to a lightly etched surface field. This guest bedroom needed to channel a luxury Santa Fe resort with luxurious linens, warm colors and a balance of natural elements: wood, stone, and metal. The graphical duvet and bohemian-style pillows are inviting on the wood and leather-inset bed. Additional sleeping options were necessary, so a custom Murphy Bed was made with copper laminate panels, bronze branch pulls, and a built-in desk with hidden USB charging ports that doubles the bed support. Warm wool drapery panels feature a black and white graphic leading edge tape with taupe linen sheers. Large scale nature prints give a modern touch. A comfy tufted chair sits in the reading area of this relaxing retreat.
