Karin Andrews Real Estate and Fine ArtI was commissioned to paint this mural in the Conference room of Dillard and Katona in Tappahannock, Virginia. It depicts The Ritchie House and Prince Street in Tappahannock about 1760. Local citizens and artisans involved in the monumental restoration of this historic landmark are depicted in the mural. The original paneling in the Ritchie House was purchased by Northern Neck Native Jessie Ball DuPont who founded the Winterthur Museum in Delaware. The Tappahanock Room includes the original paneling and furniture that was once part of this wonderful home. My own husband and his father before him was raised in the Ritchie house, prior to its restoration by Alexander F. Dillard who commissioned me to undertake this mural, completed in June of 2006. Tara McCauley Interior DesignFor this prewar Classic Seven on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Tara McCauley reimagined a long-term rental for a family of five who loved their home but felt it needed a more intentional point of view. The goal was to make it feel like a fully realized, personal space without undertaking major renovation.
In the main living area, one room that functions as living room, dining room, entry hall, and play zone, the clients wanted to keep several beloved pieces, including a comfortable worn-in leather sofa, yellow patterned valances, and the Oushak rug that ultimately drove the project’s palette. New elements like grasscloth, custom lighting, and color-forward furniture add structure and warmth while still accommodating the daily orbit of three young kids.

Nelson Construction & RenovationsProject Spotlight: Century-Old Mediterranean Revival in South Tampa
When Hurricane Helene flooded this stunning 100-year-old Mediterranean home in South Tampa, it took a devastating toll on a true piece of Tampa history. After the flood damage, the home sold to new owners with a bold vision — a complete top-to-bottom transformation worthy of its historic character.
Nelson Construction & Renovations was brought in to make that vision a reality. At 6,000 square feet, this was no small undertaking. Every detail was thoughtfully designed to honor the home's Mediterranean roots while delivering the luxury and functionality a modern family expects.
The living spaces were reimagined with new archways featuring classic bullnose corners, authentic limewash walls, coffered ceilings with architectural LED lighting, and custom arched French doors that bathe the interior in natural Florida light.
The chef's kitchen received a full transformation with custom cabinetry, a butler's pantry, and all new appliances. The master suite became a private retreat complete with a custom arched glass shower door and a luxurious Mr. Steam shower system.
Throughout the home, engineered hardwood floors, custom built-ins, and an outdoor patio kitchen complete a renovation that beautifully bridges a century of history with modern South Tampa luxury living.
Renovisions These homeowners were anxiously ready to remodel their dated 80’s kitchen and reached out to Renovisions to handle the transformation. In this new undertaking we met to discuss plans to brighten the dark room with custom painted white inset cabinets, adding more functional storage, better task lighting and GE Monogram appliances, new hardwood flooring throughout and creating a better flow into the adjacent family room. In order to open up the space, Renovisions suggested creating an angle at the peninsula. Continuing with this approach we replaced the rear door with a new one-light door that swings out instead of in to accommodate new bar stools and a better flow of traffic in and out to the deck outside. Silestone’s quartz countertops in ‘Merope’ were the perfect choice adding a nice contrast yet truly durable and low maintenance. Creating a beautifully unique subway tile niche in linen color at cooktop area and backsplash added an elegant touch to the overall look and homeowners were thrilled with this refreshing look after the Renovision.
Now their newly renovated kitchen is a showcase and nicely outfitted for family and friends.

Evergreen Remodeling & ConstructionWe were called in to renovate their old, traditional bathroom because the homeowner needed a barrier-free bathroom with enough space to maneuver his wheelchair. At Evergreen, every project we undertake is unique, for unique people, and we strive to understand their needs, dreams, and desires and make them a reality. It’s our livelihood, but it’s also our passion. This project was very special to us because, unlike most projects, it wasn’t filled with joy. But we felt this bathroom should not only be functional but also exceptionally beautiful, a daily source of happiness and enjoyment. We aimed to fill it with light, enlarging the windows and adding skylights. We aimed to create a harmonious space, giving it a Mediterranean touch with geometric wall coverings and white furniture that amplify both space and light. The shower area had to comfortably accommodate two people, as the owner needed assistance bathing. We installed accessories, such as towel racks, at a comfortable height for someone using a wheelchair. The result was a bathroom fully adapted for a person with a disability, and also full of beauty and warmth. This project taught us how important it is to do our job well.
