The clients wanted a warm, cozy, comfortable, and beautiful yet unpretentious modern gathering space for family games & entertaining in their unfinished lower level. They sought high end, custom elements & finishes that would make the spaces feel like a main floor. Requesting a media room and a compact but highly efficient and versatile kitchenette that would meet their needs for serving food and drink for their family and guests. Also on the wish list was a modern bathroom with a shower, game room for playing pool, closed storage, and a compact bar.

Our clients’ beautiful island home has a deep relationship to nature. Every room in the house is oriented toward the Lake Washington. My favorite part of the design process was seeking to create a seamless feel between indoors and out. We chose a neutral and monochromatic palette, so as to not deflect from the beauty outside. Also the interior living spaces being anchored by two massive stone fireplaces - that we decided to preserve - we incorporated both rustic and modern elements in unexpected ways that worked seamlessly. We combined unpretentious, luxurious minimalism with woodsy touches resulting in sophisticated and livable interiors.

This is the original master bedroom with new paint, fixtures, and furniture. The post WWII homes are mixed styles, which makes me feel a traumatic confusion. The 1920s homes are cohesive in their endearing and unpretentious copying of vernacular European homes. This home is predominantly Monterey Colonial but has no 2nd floor porch. The lights are boldly spanish, this room is french with its paneling.

The main requirement for this apartment is to be comfortable and unpretentious in use for a large family of owners and cozy for one person when renting an apartment. We hid almost all the beds, so the apartment "adapts" to different numbers of residents, like a TRUE CHAMELEON!

The kitchen opens toward a light-filled dining area where the Victorian bones shine brightest — tall original windows, exposed brick, and preserved plaster crown molding frame a warm and unpretentious gathering space. A brass disc pendant and antique wooden table complete the scene, grounding the contemporary kitchen in something genuinely lived-in.

In the Solaria dining table, cast steel legs in a simple T-shape support a clean-lined fancy face top featuring quartered white oak veneers in a Dune finish. Grand, but unpretentious, the dining area needed to make a statement without overwhelming the overall design of the open concept design. A spectacular large chandelier was added over the table to define the area and create a masterpiece in the vast ceiling space above.
