Perectly balanced, this dramatic black and white bathroom is a stunner. Thoughtful design was top of mind for these clients as they approached the Renovisions team to help narrow down their choices and bring it to life. Finding balance while mixing darker, heavier black finishes and lighter, white finishes was the task at hand and the goal was to create a modern look with an industrial/rustic feel.
The challenge on this project was incorporating all the desired elements and products in a tight spatial constraint of 9’ x 7.5’. The clients biggest concern in the old bathroom was inadequate storage, tired and under-utilized bathtub and they also needed an additional sink for their two daughters who often share this space. Renovisions recommended removing the wall between the shower and closet to gain additional floor space as you enter the bath, while providing wall space for the three towel bars.
Collaborating with the clients and searching to find the right fixtures paid off nicely. This newly remodeled Renovision accommodated two rectangular sinks, a walk-in shower with hand-held shower, wall-mounted shower head and two soft spray body jets. The oil-rubbed bronze fixtures not only provided a luxurious spa experience, but also added warmth and softness to the vintage feel. The glass shower enclosure is trimmed in a matte black grid that boasts an industrial aesthetic with retro feel while delivering modernistic function. It’s unique in appearance while allowing the chic white subway and black and white diamond tile to peek through.
The beautifully designed cabinetry in a matte black painted finish provides plenty of storage. This smart configuration included two banks of three drawers for toiletries and accessories, two towers with adjustable shelves for towels and two ‘garage’ doors for hair dryers.
Another unique design detail to capture attention was the black and white curvy geometric floor tile which plays off the straight lines of the cabinets and square grids of the shower enclosure.
The clients are thrilled with the results and their modern, high-contrast styled digs – a true customized relaxation sanctuary for the entire family.

After having spent several years living in a trailer getting to know their rural property in La Pine Oregon, our clients made the decision to build a small off-the-grid modern cabin that they can retire in and use as a hub for entertaining family and friends. Keeping the cabin modest in scale and construction cost was critical to this couple since they planned to build the cabin themselves and didn’t want to overextend themselves financially so they can continue pursuing their love for international travel and maximize time spent with their loved ones.
Set amongst a grove of lodge pole pines, the cabin was designed with simplicity in mind and utilizes materials that help it fit in seamlessly with the surrounding high desert environment while being low maintenance and fire resistant. Although the cabin is compact in footprint, the interior spaces are all designed to open out onto a large outdoor deck, effectively doubling the usable living space, while a covered breezeway provides protected access to the main entry and houses an outdoor kitchen for entertaining in warmer weather and wood storage for use in the indoor/ outdoor fireplace during the winter months. The compact 600 square foot interior footprint also has a 200 square foot flexible loft space which can be used to work from and house guests alike. The exterior breezeway, main living space and loft was designed to be open to the vaulted wood rafters, steel collar ties and skylights above, creating a seamless transition between the interior and exterior and a sense of openness and lightness unusual for such a compact footprint.

The walls in this area are adorned with stunning blue tiles featuring a crackle effect, harmoniously complementing the neutral cabinets that match Farrow and Ball's Skimming Stone. Not only does this combination create visual interest, but it also enhances the overall aesthetic of the space. Additionally, an ergonomic design choice was made by placing the washing machine and dryer at hip height, making them more easily accessible and convenient for the clients to use.

The spacious laundry and mudroom was designed to serve as a highly functional transition space between the garage and the main living areas while maintaining the home’s cohesive modern rustic aesthetic. Durable wood-look flooring, soft blue-gray walls, and dark stained trim create a warm and inviting atmosphere that elevates the utility-focused space.
A large utility sink and surrounding cabinetry provide practical storage and workspace for everyday household tasks, while the extended wall-mounted shelving offers abundant organization for laundry supplies, outdoor gear, and seasonal storage. Matte black cabinet hardware adds contrast and complements the darker interior doors for a clean, modern look.
The generous layout allows for easy movement and flexibility, creating a hardworking space that accommodates laundry, storage, and mudroom functionality without feeling cramped. Positioned directly off the garage entry, the room was thoughtfully designed to help contain daily clutter while providing a durable and efficient landing zone for an active lifestyle. The result is a bright, organized, and highly practical utility space that blends seamlessly with the rest of the home’s custom design details.
