The back door entrance looks wonderful when adorned with the same valance and roller shade as featured in the rest of the kitchen. This valance is only 7" deep but it finished off the room and would have looked barren if left untreated. The extra dollars spent by the home owner were worth it!

In this closeup photo, you can see the inverted pleats, the cording at the top of the board mounted custom valance, and the decorative tape at the hem, which continues to reference the view of the natural world outside. The textured fabric reminds us of the branches outside, without being a pattern from a distance. The simplicity of design allows the fabric and trim to be most important. Valance is mounted on a top board. Shimmering khaki fabric with a black contrast banding, pleats and buttons was just what this kitchen needed. The existing granite counter top blended nicely with these colors. Mounted underneath the top treatment on this patio door was a Hunter Douglas Duette Vertiglide, a great solution for sliding patio doors!

The view from this Falls Church VA home office was paramount, so a simple inverted pleat valance in soft blue-green colors to coordinate with the rug was installed over Hunter Douglas Silhouettes, which provide control of glare and ultraviolet light, and offer a soft daytime view with privacy. A decorative flat embroidered tape was added above the hem: this simple detail makes a great difference when seen from afar, since the tone on tone tree branch texture of the fabric is not apparent from a distance. These custom inverted pleat valances in a Fairfax Station home show beautiful pattern placement, which is a hallmark of custom window treatments. The valances include a geometric tone on tone print, a contrast cording at the top edge of the board they are mounted upon, and a small wrapped bead at the top of each pleat to add some dimension. The fabric selected for these valances includes a light gray, which is also found in the sofa, and warmer tones found in the rug and a side chair. The straight hem allows for maximum view and light in this Fairfax Station, VA home. This Living Room bay window has a custom cushion and custom pillows for seating, and cellular shades set inside the bay, but the window treatment is on the wall above, so that the window treatment is not too low in the room overall. Here stationary side panels are tied back, and a soft shaped inverted pleat valance arches over the bay window seat. The valance and tiebacks are in the same fabric, with a cord edge detail. Linda H. We loved how the window treatment and natural woven shades accented the wicker table. The floors and furniture we dark so we kept the windows light. The tiebacks coordinate with the kitchen window valances. Notice that we installed the rod on an angle to accentuate the arch of the window.
