Kitchen - modern kitchen idea in DC Metro

We removed a poorly installed system and started over fresh with existing cabling. Now all cables are labeled and destinations can be found for future expansion. (Picture taken previous to drywall repair.

Inspiration for a modern family room remodel in DC Metro

Design Statement: My design challenge was to create and build a new ultra modern kitchen with a futuristic flare. This state of the art kitchen was to be equipped with an ample amount of usable storage and a better view of the outside while balancing design and function. Some of the project goals were to include the following; a multi-level island with seating for four people, dramatic use of lighting, state of the art appliances, a generous view of the outside and last but not least, to create a kitchen space that looks like no other...”The WOW Factor”. This challenging project was a completely new design and full renovation. The existing kitchen was outdated and in desperate need help. My new design required me to remove existing walls, cabinetry, flooring, plumbing, electric…a complete demolition. My job functions were to be the interior designer, GC, electrician and a laborer. Construction and Design The existing kitchen had one small window in it like many kitchens. The main difficulty was…how to create more windows while gaining more cabinet storage. As a designer, our clients require us to think out of the box and give them something that they may have never dreamed of. I did just that. I created two 8’ glass backsplashes (with no visible supports) on the corner of the house. This was not easy task, engineering of massive blind headers and lam beams were used to support the load of the new floating walls. A generous amount of 48” high wall cabinets flank the new walls and appear floating in air seamlessly above the glass backsplash. Technology and Design The dramatic use of the latest in LED lighting was used. From color changing accent lights, high powered multi-directional spot lights, decorative soffit lights, under cabinet and above cabinet LED tape lights…all to be controlled from wall panels or mobile devises. A built-in ipad also controls not only the lighting, but a climate controlled thermostat, house wide music streaming with individually controlled zones, alarm system, video surveillance system and door bell. Materials and design Large amounts of glass and gloss; glass backsplash, iridescent glass tiles, raised glass island counter top, Quartz counter top with iridescent glass chips infused in it. 24” x 24” high polished porcelain tile flooring to give the appearance of water or glass. The custom cabinets are high gloss lacquer with a metallic fleck. All doors and drawers are Blum soft-close. The result is an ultra sleek and highly sophisticated design. Appliances and design All appliances were chosen for the ultimate in sleekness. These appliances include: a 48” built-in custom paneled subzero refrigerator/freezer, a built-in Miele dishwasher that is so quiet that it shoots a red led light on the floor to let you know that its on., a 36” Miele induction cook top and a built-in 200 bottle wine cooler. Some other cool features are the led kitchen faucet that changes color based on the water temperature. A stainless and glass wall hood with led lights. This is a Corinth double pool project designed by Mike Farley . The client wanted a rustic tailored finish to blend with the existing flagstone porch and accent the great lake view. This project has a double pool vanishing edge with the top pool providing shallow area for basketball, volleyball and hanging out. The spa overlooks both pools and Lake Lewisville while being close to the master door. Fire bowls frame the spectacular evening view. The lower pool provides diving and the hidden slide exit (not seen from the upper porch). The diving well acts as a key way for the hillside. Flagstone decks and cut stone veneer provide the rustic tailored finish. Landscape softens the setting and the grasses will hide the fence in no time. Photo & video by Laura Farley. In this church, we took what was a low-resolution, local produced video feed and created a nearly 4K resolution video feed through live streaming of Facebook Live with the simplest of use and operability. Kozi Media Design carefully and professionally installed all the retrofit cabling and equipment through the existing mixer for a professional result to the masses.

The existing family room was enlarged and a new audio/video center was integrated into the wall along with the gas fireplace. The entire audio/video complex was surround by stainless steel tiles and lit with LED puck lights by W.A.C. Lighting. The wall between the kitchen and the family room was removed creating a true open area for entertaining. A new hardwood floor was installed in the sitting area.

Complete Home Automation & AV which started as a "Dive-In Theater” concept. Essentially floating in a pool on mattresses and “floaties” while watching movies on a super wide screen. Almost everything disappears in the 5000 square foot pool and games room addition until you hit “Watch” and that’s when all the action begins! 180” diagonal motorized / recessed projection screen lowers from the ceiling inside a custom wood pocket, (from Screen Innovations) followed by the Epsom 4K – 6000 lumen projector lowering down approx 1 meter from a fully recessed motorized lift (from within a custom made birds nest) for high def projection in even the most highly lit spaces. Theater surround sound comes on to complete the performance which is achieved by using including 12 – 150 watt - in-wall “Nakymatone Invisible Wall speakers” and 1000 watts of sub woofers. The rest of the addition and the existing custom home will be updated to include a complete home automation package including distributed audio & video throughout, security cameras and recording equipment, networking equipment, some lighting dimmers and keypads as well as a new Control4 touch panel for visual control of the property. Gate controllers and other devices were also added to the project.
