Inspiration for a mid-sized full sun backyard formal garden for spring.

Cape Cod; Dennis, MA
This Cape Cod-style bathroom combines a classic coastal palette with a unique and stylish design, creating a bright and inviting space. The most striking feature is the vibrant Serena and Lilly patterned wallpaper, which covers the upper half of the walls and serves as a dynamic backdrop for the room. The repeating fan or scallop-like motif of the wallpaper adds a playful and decorative element.
Below the wallpaper, the lower half of the walls is finished with crisp white beadboard paneling, a classic architectural detail that reinforces the coastal and cottage aesthetic. A round mirror with a thick, natural rattan frame hangs above the sink, adding a warm, organic texture that contrasts beautifully with the clean lines of the white vanity and beadboard.
The vanity itself is a simple white cabinet with a clean white countertop and an undermount sink. A modern polished chrome faucet with a unique handle design adds a touch of contemporary flair. Above the mirror, a chrome light fixture with two white, frosted glass shades provides balanced and bright illumination. On the right, a chrome towel rack holds a folded white towel, and a simple white shower curtain completes the clean and functional design. This bathroom expertly balances traditional coastal elements with a fresh, modern sensibility.

Most porch additions look like an "after-thought" and detract from the better thought-out design of a home. The design of the porch followed by the gracious materials and proportions of this Georgian-style home. The brick is left exposed and we brought the outside in with wood ceilings. The porch has craftsman-style finished and high quality carpet perfect for outside weathering conditions.
The space includes a dining area and seating area to comfortably entertain in a comfortable environment with crisp cool breezes from multiple ceiling fans.

We gave this rather dated farmhouse some dramatic upgrades that brought together the feminine with the masculine, combining rustic wood with softer elements. In terms of style her tastes leaned toward traditional and elegant and his toward the rustic and outdoorsy. The result was the perfect fit for this family of 4 plus 2 dogs and their very special farmhouse in Ipswich, MA. Character details create a visual statement, showcasing the melding of both rustic and traditional elements without too much formality. The new master suite is one of the most potent examples of the blending of styles. The bath, with white carrara honed marble countertops and backsplash, beaded wainscoting, matching pale green vanities with make-up table offset by the black center cabinet expand function of the space exquisitely while the salvaged rustic beams create an eye-catching contrast that picks up on the earthy tones of the wood. The luxurious walk-in shower drenched in white carrara floor and wall tile replaced the obsolete Jacuzzi tub. Wardrobe care and organization is a joy in the massive walk-in closet complete with custom gliding library ladder to access the additional storage above. The space serves double duty as a peaceful laundry room complete with roll-out ironing center. The cozy reading nook now graces the bay-window-with-a-view and storage abounds with a surplus of built-ins including bookcases and in-home entertainment center. You can’t help but feel pampered the moment you step into this ensuite. The pantry, with its painted barn door, slate floor, custom shelving and black walnut countertop provide much needed storage designed to fit the family’s needs precisely, including a pull out bin for dog food. During this phase of the project, the powder room was relocated and treated to a reclaimed wood vanity with reclaimed white oak countertop along with custom vessel soapstone sink and wide board paneling. Design elements effectively married rustic and traditional styles and the home now has the character to match the country setting and the improved layout and storage the family so desperately needed. The outdoor living room was designed to provide lots of seating. The insect screens retract, opening the space to the sun deck in the center of the outdoor area. Beautiful outdoor furniture adds style and comfort to the space for year round enjoyment. The shutters add privacy and a sculptural element to the space.

This house, built in the 1960s, sits southfacing on a terrific wooded lot in Bethesda, Maryland.
The owners desire a whole-house renovation which would improve the general building fabric and systems, and extend the sense of living out of doors in all seasons.
The original sixties-modern character is preserved and the renovation extends the design forward into a contemporary, modern approach. Connections to and through the site are enhanced through the creation of new larger window and door openings.
Screened porches and decks perch above the sloped and wooded site. The new kitchen and bathrooms allow for opportunities to feel out-of -doors while preparing, cooking, dining, and bathing.
Smart passive strategies guide the environmental choices for this project, including envelope improvements, updated mechanical systems, and on-site stormwater management.
