Jushing is a unique new type of decorating service coined by Cricket Burns of Cricketscrush.com. Cricket styles homes using her vase talents she learned as a magazine fashion and style editor for over 25 years.
For this project, Cricket was introduced to Steve through his real estate agent. He had recently move into a large NYC apartment. However, he needed someone to design and style the apartment. The movers had moved in but the apartment had not been put together. The place needed a total make-over.
Steve hired Cricket to jushe up his place while he was traveling over-seas on business. Steve had recently gone through a divorce. He had a bunch of kids.
Thus, the design challenge in this job was actually creating a family home for a man who is now a bachelor. Steve needed an apartment that could work for his own entertaining, while also having a vibe his younger kids would enjoy.
Cricket’s Jushing design service prove to be very effective for Steve’s needs. His life was in a bit of transformation. This project was going need room to grow. Steve didn’t really know exactly what he wanted but had a good idea of what he didn’t want.
The Jushing process allows for projects that grow organically. Cricket designs her looks based on the initial client consultation. In Jushing, Cricket is using inventory from her consignment warehouse. All of the items used are essentially on loan until the client has had time to live in the new space to see if the decor meets their aesthetic and functional needs.
With this project, Steve decided on a bunch of tweaks in order to get the look of his new apartment to place he and his children felt they were in their "home”. Thus, Cricket’s vast warehouse of inventory really allowed for her to remove his dislikes with inventory he liked within the same day. The speed at which Cricket completed the job was an added valued to her overall design services.
If you are interested in seeing Cricket in action for this job, then watch her web series, The Jusher, at Youtube.com/user/cricketscrush. You’ll also find 30 or so episodes featuring Cricket interview designers, artists, and artisans.
Cricketscrush.com is in the business of helping you make your home more beautiful. So shop, watch, learn and even hire Cricket - The Jusher.

High-gloss olive green, quartzite counters, and a professional painter’s eye for detail - this is what happens when you know your craft.
Painted by @paintedbykaylapayne herself, these glossy olive green cabinets bring major character and a mirror-like finish that reflects the room’s charm. Paired with spider web quartzite counters and glassfront countertop cabinets, it’s a space that feels layered, lived-in, and entirely her own.

For a couple of young web developers buying their first home in Redwood Shores, we were hired to do a complete interior remodel of a cookie cutter house originally built in 1996. The original finishes looked more like the 80s than the 90s, consisting of raised-panel oak cabinets, 12 x 12 yellow-beige floor tiles, tile counters and brown-beige wall to wall carpeting. The kitchen and bathrooms were utterly basic and the doors, fireplace and TV niche were also very dated. We selected all new finishes in tones of gray and silver per our clients’ tastes and created new layouts for the kitchen and bathrooms. We also designed a custom accent wall for their TV (very important for gamers) and track-mounted sliding 3-Form resin doors to separate their living room from their office. To animate the two story living space we customized a Mizu pendant light by Terzani and in the kitchen we selected an accent wall of seamless Caesarstone, Fuscia lights designed by Achille Castiglioni (one of our favorite modernist pendants) and designed a two-level island and a drop-down ceiling accent “cloud: to coordinate with the color of the accent wall. The master bath features a minimalist bathtub and floating vanity, an internally lit Electric Mirror and Porcelanosa tile.

The Altea power recliner chair has a clean, modern design that doesn’t hold back when it comes to spacious comfort because it’s custom made in Spain by world-renowned manufacturer Famaliving. Besides its fine contemporary lines, this recliner is really comfortable due to a variety of factors. Polyurethane foam is used in the seat while fibre is used in the back and loose cushions. Then there’s the suspension, which unlike the old spring design that sags over time, uses a unique webbing system that provides added support for long-lasting use. The frame is solidly built with wood and MDF for added durability. This chair also has an electric mechanism for its reclining functionality that can instantly be utilized by a touch of a button. When it comes time for selecting the sofa’s look, you’ll have over 600 colored and patterned fabrics to choose from, which means you’ll be able to easily match the decor of your living space. And you’ll also have options for the legs, which consist of metal or wood that are available in a various colors.

Main Line Kitchen Design is a brand new business model! We are a group of skilled Kitchen Designers each with many years of experience planning kitchens around the Delaware Valley. And we are cabinet dealers for 6 nationally distributed cabinet lines much like traditional showrooms. Unlike full showrooms open to the general public, Main Line Kitchen Design works only by appointment. Appointments can be scheduled days, nights, and weekends either in your home or in our office and selection center. During office appointments we display clients kitchens on a flat screen TV and help them look through 100’s of sample doorstyles, almost a thousand sample finish blocks and sample kitchen cabinets. During home visits we can bring samples, take measurements, and make design changes on laptops showing you what your kitchen can look like in the very room being renovated. This is more convenient for our customers and it eliminates the expense of staffing and maintaining a larger space that is open to walk in traffic. We pass the significant savings on to our customers and so we sell cabinetry for less than other dealers, even home centers like Lowes and The Home Depot.
We believe that since a web site like Houzz.com has over half a million kitchen photos any advantage to going to a full kitchen showroom with full kitchen displays has been lost. Almost no customer today will ever get to see a display kitchen in their door style and finish because there are just too many possibilities. And the design of each kitchen is unique anyway.

About this Project:
This stunning 1200 square foot addition to the existing home includes an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, full bathroom, glass block web bar, 2nd floor loft , two car garage, deck, and backyard patio. The glass block windows and ceiling feature rope lighting for a dramatic effect. The design was completed by Indovina & Associates, Architects. The goal was to match the architecture of the home and allow for a seamless flow of the addition into the existing home. The finished result is an exceptional space for indoor & outdoor entertaining.
Testimonial:
I wanted to take a moment to thank you and your team for the excellent work that you completed on my home. And, because of you, I now say home. Although I lived here for the last 15 years, I never felt like the house was mine or that I would stay here forever. I now love everything about it and know I will be here for a very long time. Everyone who had seen my place before is amazed at what you were able to accomplish.
