When we first arrived on the scene this garden with a Northern orientation was gray and dank and full of algae. The goal was essentially to create the antithesis of that: a warm, fresh, lively and dynamic garden suited for a party, play and just hanging out and having fun. The challenge was to incorporate lots of functions into the small space. The patio was set in the back to get the most garden. The ledges on the raised beds offer extra seating during parties. By situating the play house on top of the shed (only accessible by the climbing wall), moving the access to the back alley into the shed and adding a diagonal to widen the space near the shed for play but keep the patio area intimate, the space was optimized as much as possible. The warm Terre Egypte color from Farrow & Ball that is painted on the bed and walls adds lots of warmth and freshness.

Very close-up of a succulent in a pot, showing the intricate form and texture of its leaves. The detail highlights the plant’s sculptural quality and natural beauty as part of the container garden.

Home to a young family of four, this new house blends in the tightly woven fabric of this traditional residential neighborhood. Yet CYAN Horticulture was mandated to pack in this limited space an ambitious program of children-minded activities, in a ‘warm contemporary’ way. The front yard hence accommodates a boxwood parterre/soccer field and a secret dirtbike track, a rain barrel as well as mixed monochromatic plantings in greens and whites.

JAC 140 - Twilight in Space by Jon Allen
The Jon Allen Collection is an exclusive, hand-selected group of my most personal work to date. Each piece is hand-painted on aluminum. My art itself and my chosen medium, aluminum, are blissfully married. You may not think of the word organic when you hear the word metal, but this is some of my most organic art and that’s simply because metal allows my work to achieve true sentience. Aluminum’s naturally reflective nature enables each color, shape, and stroke to reach its full potential. A new aspect of the painting will reveal itself to you as it basks in the light that surrounds, evades, or envelops it in that moment. When you see the piece from different angles, you will appreciate how vibrant, dynamic, and environmentally influenced these pieces are. What you may see and feel by morning is not what you’ll see or feel by dusk and in many ways, and as such I feel these pieces capture the ever-ebbing and complex nature of human emotion and perception.
Some of these pieces are truly abstract while others are modern takes on traditional landscapes, marine life, and portraits. I hope you enjoy them a fraction of how much I enjoyed creating them. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Number of Pieces: 1
Dimensions: 46" x 13" x 2" off the wall
Care & Cleaning: Clean with a soft cloth and plain soap & water
Other Features: Hardware is pre-installed for simple hanging and art will “float” 2” off the wall

Emil Kotto is a porcelain tile collection that creates extremely attractive contemporary interiors thanks to the timeless beauty of clay. Kotto highlights the variation that originates from the transformed clay to create a product that has its own personality, style, and warmth suitable for any interior space. This redesign of an outdated landscape for a waterfront home on Cape Cod reacts directly to the site conditions and existing topography. An elevated septic system has been regraded and replanted with native species to more fluidly blend with the undulations of the natural landscape, while a fountain and reflecting pool mark the level of the 100-year flood, to which the site is susceptible. The shifting series of wood decks and boardwalks appear to float and hint at the natural processes at work on the site, while providing outdoor dining and relaxation areas anchored by a bold red screen fence that ties the landscape to the architecture.
