Vintage Tub & Bath supplied the farmhouse sink and brass bridge faucet. The window was recreated from vintage sashes found at Pasadena Architectural Salvage, which also supplied the brass cabinet hardware. Inspiration for a coastal master dark wood floor and brown floor bedroom remodel in Charleston with beige walls

This prefabricated 1,800 square foot Certified Passive House is designed and built by The Artisans Group, located in the rugged central highlands of Shaw Island, in the San Juan Islands. It is the first Certified Passive House in the San Juans, and the fourth in Washington State. The home was built for $330 per square foot, while construction costs for residential projects in the San Juan market often exceed $600 per square foot. Passive House measures did not increase this projects’ cost of construction. The clients are retired teachers, and desired a low-maintenance, cost-effective, energy-efficient house in which they could age in place; a restful shelter from clutter, stress and over-stimulation. The circular floor plan centers on the prefabricated pod. Radiating from the pod, cabinetry and a minimum of walls defines functions, with a series of sliding and concealable doors providing flexible privacy to the peripheral spaces. The interior palette consists of wind fallen light maple floors, locally made FSC certified cabinets, stainless steel hardware and neutral tiles in black, gray and white. The exterior materials are painted concrete fiberboard lap siding, Ipe wood slats and galvanized metal. The home sits in stunning contrast to its natural environment with no formal landscaping. A great way to brighten up a bedroom is with painted nightstands. In this case, we wanted to maintain a calming environment with neutral wall colors and bedding. A gorgeous mix of traditional and contemporary style in this Toronto home! We were able to pair old furnishings with new, neutral tones with vibrant ones, and wall decor with exciting new artwork! Since we have worked with these clients before, we knew their design style to the T. The couple was moving from the suburbs to the city, so we wanted to take their usual style (which errs more on the traditional side) and throw in some exciting and bold new elements — new chapter, new look! The design turned out light and airy which is balanced by the vibrant color accents, large artwork, wall coverings, and, one of our favorite pieces, a glamorous puzzle table! Chic, elegant and bright were the primary words of inspiration. We went with a neutral backdrop and allowed the artwork to be the main star of the show. It was complemented by a geometric rug and pulled it all together with gold accents throughout.
