Bespoke vanity units for bathroom and cloakroom, Wimbledon, London This purpose-built double basin wall-hung vanity unit features a seamless Caesarstone 1141 Pure White countertop. The inherent strength and resilience of this stunning polished quartz surface ensures a lasting beauty that will resist scratches and stains, while the immaculate super-smooth white stone gives a feeling of spaciousness and cool which is both refreshing and uplifting. This vanity unit also incorporates a useful mix of closed and open storage for ultimate flexibility. The stunning ceiling height mirrored wall cabinets above the vanity unit dramatically increase the amount of light in the room. The mitred mirror corner and art deco style lights fixed into the glazing add luxurious glamour. Floating vanity shelf For the downstairs cloakroom, we constructed this floating basin vanity unit with a matching floating shelf for towels, both made to measure in real oak. This adorable beach cottage is in the heart of the village of La Jolla in San Diego. The goals were to brighten up the space and be the perfect beach get-away for the client whose permanent residence is in Arizona. Some of the ways we achieved the goals was to place an extra high custom board and batten in the great room and by refinishing the kitchen cabinets (which were in excellent shape) white. We created interest through extreme proportions and contrast. Though there are a lot of white elements, they are all offset by a smaller portion of very dark elements. We also played with texture and pattern through wallpaper, natural reclaimed wood elements and rugs. This was all kept in balance by using a simplified color palate minimal layering. I am so grateful for this client as they were extremely trusting and open to ideas. This project won in the 2013 Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh Housing Excellence Award for Best Urban Renewal Renovation Project. The glass bowl was made in the glass studio owned by the owner which is adjacent to the residence. The mirror is a repurposed window. The door is repurposed from a boarding house. George Mendel
