What if your bathroom could be not just lackluster, but a place of real luxury … spacious, fresh, and beautiful? In this project, we gave new life to a bathroom that wasn’t meeting its full potential.
This spacious, sunny bathroom’s layout and design were pre-existing, so the space simply needed freshening up. Our team did just that, through the use of careful planning, new materials, and skilled labor.
With serenity in mind, we created an oasis, painting and tiling to bring the homeowner’s vision to life. While installing new tile required the removal and re-installation of all plumbing fixtures, the transformation was well worth it.
This project is a great example of how choosing materials gives life to a space. Here, the wood-look floor tile, ceramic crackle wall tile, and glass mosaic detail strips join together to create the lush, luxurious look.
Once we’d established a new look for the space, we turned our attention to the finishing touches, such as the deep soaker tub, square drain in the standing shower, and stone tops on the vanity and half-walls. These details complete the room, facilitating a sense of ease and tranquility.
Sometimes, all it takes is a few changes to yield a fantastic result … in this case, a place of peace in the midst of a wild world.

The owners of this 1960s ranch house loved their house but it wasn't configured to meet their needs. The house had only two small bedrooms for the family of four, and there was no casual living space for parents and kids to hang out separately. Neither we nor the clients wanted to increase the home's energy usage. It was a tall order: could we increase the home's size without increasing its energy footprint?
ADDING FUNCTIONALITY
We built two small additions, one at the front of the home and one off the side adjacent to the two existing bedrooms. These new spaces provided an additional bedroom on the main level as well as a new stair down to the basement. At basement level, the additions yielded a guest room, a full bathroom and a laundry area. The existing basement, which is now easily accessible from the main floor, was refinished as a casual family room.
The architect designed the new spaces to be spare and bright, replicating the mid-century aesthetic. Every detail—from the open stair, to the light maple floors, to the detailing of the bathroom vanity—echoes the vintage and character of the original home.
INTEGRATING ENERGY AND DESIGN
The key to meeting this challenge was a rigorous and integrated planning process with early-stage energy modeling accompanying design. As the architect (Anita Rogers) worked out the space plan, the energy consultant (Mike Duclos) analyzed how various scenarios could be combined with envelope and mechanical packages to not only hold the line on energy use but improve performance. We anticipate the plan we settled on will save 25% annually over pre-project energy use.

When culinary photographer, chef, and media personality Megan and her husband Mark came to us for his- and hers- bathroom remodels, We knew the collaboration would yield incredible results! They had exciting inspirations for their baths and were willing to explore some out-of-box design concepts that made the dual project especially enticing. In the hallway bath, they were hoping to make better use of adjacent space and enlarge the room to create a spa getaway for Megan. Meanwhile, their en suite master bath was outdated and seriously lacking in both style and storage for Mark's taste. They came prepared to our initial consultation with several inspiration photos to work off of for both space planning and material selections. Megan’s inspirations were light, airy, and leaned into some beautiful physical and visual textures. Mark’s inspirations were dark, moody, and included woodworking details and wainscoting reminiscent of a cigar lounge or country club.

A custom build, this three bedroom three batch 3600 sqft home was built in 1989 with equisite details. A screened porch yields access to a deck overlooking the wooded grounds, and the open concept living space features a brick fireplace and hardwood floors throughout.
