ATIID collaborated with these homeowners to curate new furnishings throughout the home while their down-to-the studs, raise-the-roof renovation, designed by Chambers Design, was underway. Pattern and color were everything to the owners, and classic “Americana” colors with a modern twist appear in the formal dining room, great room with gorgeous new screen porch, and the primary bedroom. Custom bedding that marries not-so-traditional checks and florals invites guests into each sumptuously layered bed. Vintage and contemporary area rugs in wool and jute provide color and warmth, grounding each space. Bold wallpapers were introduced in the powder and guest bathrooms, and custom draperies layered with natural fiber roman shades ala Cindy’s Window Fashions inspire the palettes and draw the eye out to the natural beauty beyond. Luxury abounds in each bathroom with gleaming chrome fixtures and classic finishes. A magnetic shade of blue paint envelops the gourmet kitchen and a buttery yellow creates a happy basement laundry room. This primary bedroom blends soft blues with bold pops of color for a lively and layered look. Light blue painted walls serve as a serene backdrop for an off-white upholstered bed with layered bedding, including a blue coverlet, tan-and-white striped bolster, windowpane pillows, and hot pink bird-printed velvet pillows. Bright yellow velvet armchair, yellow-and-white drapery, and Roman shades add cheerful accents, while a light blue-and-white rug and white waterfall coffee table complete the space. Windows with crisp white trim allow natural light to brighten the room, creating a fresh and inviting atmosphere.

Designed by Interior Designer, A. Lantz Design, this Lake Charlevoix project was featured on the cover of Traditional Home magazine! This soft yellow guest bedroom is a lovely pop of sunshine in this Michigan lake house. From the drapery and matching bedding to the rattan bed and walnut bedside chests. The light canary yellow color scheme is carried throughout the wall paint, duvet cover, drapery, painted bench frame, and armchair in the room, the warmth in this guest suite is remarkable. We chose to pop some navy blue striping in the pillow shams, bench cushion, and throw pillows for a nice accent.

Bedroom - mid-sized transitional master medium tone wood floor and brown floor bedroom idea in New York with beige walls and no fireplace

For a client with an enthusiastic appreciation of retro design, this sunny ode to kitchens of the past is a cheerful and comforting retreat for today. The client wanted a kitchen that creatively expressed her fun, unconventional taste while providing all the modern conveniences of a contemporary home. Space was borrowed from an existing office to provide more open area and easier navigation in the kitchen. Bright, optimistic yellow sets the tone in the room, with retro-inspired appliances in buttery yellow chosen as key elements of the design. A generous apron-front farm sink gleams with clean white enameled cast iron and is outfitted with a rare retro faucet with spray and scrub brush attachments. Black trim against the yellow ceramic tile countertops defines the kitchen’s lines. Simple maple cabinetry painted white with black ceramic knobs provides a modern level of storage. Playful positioning of contrasting tiles on the floor presents a modern, quirky interpretation of the traditional checkerboard pattern in this classic kitchen with an original point of view.
