Darian and Alberto are the most amazing architects that we could ask for to join in our team. When we were in search for new architect firm for our most recent project in downtown Huntington Beach, we interviewed several architect firms and finally, we made a decision to go with their firm. From our first initial meeting until now, it has more than 3 months and they make progress than our previous architect did for 1.5 years. Working with them give us a peace of mind, we know that they genuinely care for us and have the best interest in our success. They are very knowledgeable, professional and always on top of their game which helps speeds up the process and save us a lots of time with the City is Huntington Beach and other agencies. We met Darian and Alberto almost ten years ago. Our first project was put on hold because we were not ready. But these gentlemen left us with strong impressions. Most important to us, they were patient and attentive, full of creative ideas (some playful and also practical at the same time), professional, and decent. When we contacted a number of architecture firms the second time around, the first people we called were Alberto and Darian. They responded immediately. After thorough discussions with four other firms (some well-established and other boutique like), we asked for estimates from each. Once again, Novum Architecture came through and came out ahead. The following months were spent on phone calls, emails, and meetings. Over the course of this project, we met in person, at least a dozen times. Because of their generosity, we've came to visiting many of the fine restaurants and cafes in Redondo Beach and South Bay. Not to mention those pastry shops (we ate too much, always). The house gradually came into shape. And we can only express this collaborative process as life affirming. What we experienced was Darian and Alberto's abilities to incorporate our wishes into the realization of a livable space. Their conceptual scheme was grand AND the attention to practical living and details went beyond what we could ever hope for. We have learned much more from Alberto and Darian than design and plans. We also came to appreciate what a great team these two have formed. Both were great listeners. One is almost a perfectionist (in this business, there is no 100% anything because there are always trade-offs). One always approached us with brand new ideas and suggestions when we sat down for our frequent meetings in their cozy office. One is patient but realistic in dealing with the clients (us), engineers (structural, environmental, soil, etc.) and the bureaucrats (great folks in the City of Santa Monica). Both were full of positive energy in their outlook. In short, it was a pleasure to work and spent time with Alberto and Darian. In the end, we were amazed by the design that Novum Architecture came up with. When we displayed their renderings and plans to friends and total strangers, the reactions were universal. What's striking to us was not just the "WOW" factor, but somehow, Alberto and Darian created and ingrained a set of DNA in our house that conveyed happiness and serenity. For years my husband and I had been talking about extending our home to create a master bedroom suite. The time was right and we interviewed several architecture and design firms in hopes that we could finally make it happen. After our initial meeting, we knew almost immediately that Alberto and Darian were the team that we were looking for. They were extremely personable and had great ideas. In turn, we had many ideas of our own that we presented to them but really weren't sure if they could fit within our budget. In the end, not only did they give us our dream suite, but they made it work within our budget. After our home burned down in January of 2016, my wife and I didn't know where to begin. A good friend suggested Houzz would be a good place to start. Houzz was full of pictures, articles, and industry contacts, I got lost in the app for weeks. We interviewed 7 different architects before finding Novum on Houzz. Novums style of modern design was exactly what my wife wanted. I emailed them, and a few days later I met with Darian at the site of our burned home. Darian viewed my home just as I had viewed it 4 years prior when we bought the house. He could also see the huge potential of the space. Darian listened to my wife as she described things she would like to have in her dream home, and features I would like to have to entertain friends and family. A week later I met with both Darian and Alberto at the site again, together they had expanded on everything we wanted. They were excited about the opportunity to create a design for us, they had an eagerness and a grand vision that had my wife and I ready to hire them. When we saw the very first 3D drawings of our new home we were amazed with what Darian and Alberto had come up with. Novum had givin my wife and I a design that completely accommodated every aspect of our family with the modern design style Novum is known for. Darian and Alberto have also been easy to work with when designing the interior of the house. They provided several ideas and maintained the modern design style throughout. We cannot wait for the very emotional day that we will be able to go home and live in this masterpiece. On top of creating an incredible home for us, Novum also connected us with a contractor that could build it. Ruben of K-MAG construction and his crew have been working very hard to get us back in our home. We hired Novum Architecture to design our extensive home remodel (we took our house down to the studs). They came up with a really beautiful design, maximized the space we had and helped us realize our vision. Darian and Alberto were easy to work with and very open to our ideas and suggestions. Darian and Alberto of Novum Architects were brought to the table by KU Designs to interview for the 2015 Remodel at the Huntington Harbour Mall. After reviewing all the details of the 473,392 S.F. project, it was clear to me who I wanted to take on this endeavor. From conception to design and most importantly the relationships with the City Officials during the permitting process and scheduling, Darian and Alberto were an excellent choice. Revisions to the original Designers Plans (mid-stream in the project) made for some crunch time drawings. Novum submitted 3 choices promptly. One design that is now a reality on our courtyard.THEY ARE GOOD LISTENERS. So important when time is a factor. They also understood the importance of timing and budgeting. I recommend them highly for that reason alone!

Novum Architecture does it right. My wife and I interviewed multiple architectural firms for a new home design and build in Belmont Shore. We weren’t sure if we wanted a Modern or Mediterranean design as we had looked at so many new homes. As a real estate investor, I’ve worked with numerous architects; however, this was by far the best company I’ve ever worked with. My experience with Novum Architecture is nothing short of fantastic. My wife and I were forced into an unexpected remodel earlier this year due to a plumbing issue that completely flooded our entire downstairs. Since the existing layout was not to our liking, we decided to go all out with a complete remodel, removing load-bearing walls and increasing ceiling heights. From design, planning, permits and exectution, Darian and Alberto were exceptional. City plans were approved ahead of schedule, contractor recommendations were solid and we were able to get back into our remodeled home under budget, and within the 6 week time constraint our home owner's insurance agent allocated. The design that Alberto and Darian envisioned has proven to be the envy of our friends and neighbors as we now have the home of our dreams.

We have worked with Alberto of Novum Architecture for 5 years now. From a contractor's point of view, they are good to work with because they have experience in construction, so what they design is well thought out and buildable. You would be surprised at how many architects do not know how to build, design without thought for buildability, and do not think about the details. From the homeowners perspective, they are pretty flexible with their designs (some architects want to achieve THEIR vision, not the clients), they are hungry to make a name for themselves and research new products to use, and are very involved even after the design process to tweak the design as the building is proceeding. My husband and I worked with Alberto from Novum to design our home in West LA. He was a pleasure to work with and I recommend him! His cost was very competitive and his turn around and responsiveness was quick and impressive. Our project was technically a renovation, but we essentially took the whole home down (saving one wall) and rebuilt a 2400 square ft 'California Eclectic' home blending traditional and modern elements.
