We initially came to Andrea for help renovating just a family room in our house. We looked at various designers but kept coming back to Andrea’s designs. Her rooms always seem to have the right amount of symmetry and the kind of colors and textures and simplicity that really suits us. We really enjoyed meeting her in person. We love that she runs her own business and his local here in Arlington. She was great to work with. She helped us figure out “our style”. She gives us just the right number of design choices without ever making us feel overwhelmed. She was able to create a beautiful room for us that was still practical for our children and our dogs. We were so happy with the first room that we ended up continuing on with her to redecorate most of the rest of our home. Years later, we are returning to her as we are designing a one story addition off the back of our house with a kitchenette, bathroom, and bedroom in order to have a space for our parents to come live with us when the time is right. Thank you, Andrea!

Andrea was hired to design a billiard room for us. The final design was beautiful and functional. The entire process took nearly two years because of COVID and we had some significant cost over-runs. This is partly because we failed to incorporate the cost of labor into our budget and partly because she picks very high quality furniture. Andrea works very closely with the people she brings in for the labor (the electrician, the wall paper installation, painter) and their work was high quality. But she does not control their fees, which were high. We were satisfied that the job was done well. She came by to supervise installation of everything - wall paper, paint, lights, pool table, and furniture. She's definitely a perfectionist and it shows in the final work. We would highly recommend her as long as folks understand that the full budget needs to incorporate labor costs.

We went back to A Houck Designs once again after several previous great experiences. This time we were updating our basement, including a bathroom, kitchenette and fireplace, as well as two upper level bathrooms. We knew we’d achieve results with Andrea’s help that we wouldn’t achieve on our own. Andrea brings not her own design talents to the projects, but also her contacts and relationships with great vendors and contractors.

We turned to A. Houck Designs after we remodeled the first floor of our home. Andrea worked with us extensively, getting to know our tastes and vision for our project. She assisted with lighting, paint, window treatments and furniture. Andrea spent a great deal of time on all areas. We were especially delighted with three different designs for our living room - it was so hard to pick which one we liked best! We are so pleased with the layout and design. We will definitely be working with Andrea again when we design our library next year!

My husband and I recently worked with Andrea to do some fine tuning and upgrades to our 5 year old house. Andrea was a delight to work with and spent a great deal of time on our project in order to make sure were happy with each selection. She spent time at the beginning of our project making sure we understood her entire process, and it was very helpful to know in advance what to expect. Andrea helped us with rugs, window treatments, pillows and some small pieces of furniture. The result is absolutely wonderful. We highly recommend Andrea and her team. We are totally pleased with the changes to our home.

Andrea has been wonderful to work with. She worked diligently and skillfully to give me different decorating options from the myriad fabrics and ideas I gave her. While she and I shared a lot of common preferences for color and schemes, she helped guide me through my initiation of working with a professional and I was glad to have her advice. My project is about finished and is unfolding beautifully. I will definitely use her again for any decorating or design projects for my home.

We are mid-project with Andrea Houck and the experience has been amazing. She started us out with a review of her past projects and an explanation of her process. That set a great foundation for what to expect which was really helpful as we are new to the design experience. Our project is a tough one, with plenty to challenge even the most experienced designer. Our theme and goal for the project is to create a “WoW” factor in our new gathering room addition. We are learning so much from Andrea. She showed us how to visually divide our space into vertical layers. She is demonstrating how interest is created with texture and color in the design. We are listening hard and are excited to see her create our project!

We were overwhelmed during a recent home renovation, and Andrea, of A. Houck Designs, came to our rescue. After purchasing new furniture for our family room, we realized that we needed help in choosing the best paint colors for not only that room, but the adjoining kitchen and bath as well. She was able to refine our choices to achieve the best results. She also helped us choose lighting fixtures for our kitchen, dining room, and foyer, as well as recessed lighting in two of the rooms. When a lighting fixture didn't arrive on time due to a delay in overseas production, Andrea was able to secure another lighting fixture from the company, and have it installed in time for a large dinner party. She is currently assisting me with selecting artwork to complete our family room, and tile work for the kitchen. She has been more than willing to accommodate us and our timeline which is undoubtedly a little longer/slower than she is used to. We highly recommend Andrea, her work ethic and reliability, and of course, her design know-how.

Commented: Is this a built out wall with Ethanol Fireplace?The is a vented fireplace using natural gas, the fireplace and was intended to produce additional heat for the rooms. It is not an ethanol unit.
