Rick McAlexander and Associated Designs have never disappointed. I have worked with Rick extensively on custom design projects. He is creative pragmatic intuitive and professional. Rick is tenacious in design- committed to create a floorplan and design that locks step with the clients lifestyle. CHOOSE ANOTHER DESIGN COMPANY THAT CARES ABOUT AND CAN HANDLE YOUR BUSINESS! We are building a home on the Oregon Coast just two hours from Associated Designs in Eugene, Oregon We selected a house plan by them because their webpage suggested a very positive "we can make it happen" attitude, especially regarding modifying your house plan. It was not until we paid $2,200 for the CAD electronic file - which you must buy before they will give you an estimate of the cost of your modifications - that we were told that it would be 4-5 weeks before we received our new plans. Further questioning revealed that what we would get in 4-5 weeks would be a preliminary plan that, upon our approval, would require another 4-5 weeks until we would receive the completed blueprint. We will not proceed furher with Associated Designs and recommend that others do not use them unless they have a three month period to develop their plans because we have since learned that they often do not meet their deadlines. . We are very frustrated and disappointed in our choice of a design company with such low expectations of acceptable customer service.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with our company.

Our website is correct that we are the best source to modify the designs in our collection and we are very happy to help any client modify our house plans, especially clients building in the State of Oregon. With our revision services we are very up front about the cost of the modifications before plans are purchased. We provide FREE modification quotes which outline the fee for customizing the plan along with the plan package that you will need to purchase in order to have the plans revised. When you originally contacted us on March 27th, a designer within our office reviewed the changes you wanted to make and provided you with a modification quote which included that the PDF Master needed to be purchased at the time we proceeded with the modifications, all of this provided before we collected any money from you and within the same day that you contacted us.

After receiving that quote you had several FREE phone consultations with the designer to review additional questions and modifications. Due to our schedule at the time you were ready to proceed you decided to purchase the CAD Masters and work with another firm to have the changes incorporated. Your purchase of the unmodified design was fulfilled the same day you placed it. Six days after your purchase, you contacted us again to review and quote modifications you wanted to make. Our schedule did not speed up in the 10 days since your original request which we were honest about before any money was collected from you.

It is very important to us that our clients are provided realistic time frames for the completion of each phase of their project. Since a Houzz review provided in 2015 we have implemented scheduling procedures that allow us to meet or exceed the time frames we provide our clients. The reason you were told 4 weeks for preliminary plan was a result of our honest attempt to be up front about the actual amount of time it will take us to get to your project.

Excellent customer service is something that we strive for every day. We answer emails within one business day or sooner and real people answer the phone, no wading through a phone tree to find the right department. If a staff member was rude to you or was not attentive to providing you with timely responses we do wish to hear about it. Rick McAlexander is the owner of Associated Designs, Inc. and is available to review any specific instances where a staff member did not adhere to our company’s standards for customer service.

We are sorry that our schedule for plan customization was longer than your project allowed and for the trouble that may have caused you. We do recommend and encourage all clients to make sure they can provide as much time to the design phase as possible. By not rushing the design and working with a professional you can make sure that the home will suite your needs and lifestyle for years to come.

I searched the internet looking for a 2 car garage with a 2nd story living space/loft above and a deck. Associated Designs garage was by far the best that I found. The open floor plan, workshop area and large deck make this a very functional space for a 2 car garage. I bought the Garage design 20-061 plans. Jessica Craig was very helpful in the whole process and offered to assist with any questions I may have as I proceed to build the garage. I look forward to sharing the photos during the build process and the finished garage.

I hired Associated Designs to modify our chosen design from their website. Their pricing seemed a little better than other sites with this same floor plan. Modifications were completed to my requirements. However they set the timeframe to get the plans back after each round of review. They did not meet their own time frame set, not even once. Off each time by a week or more with a response only after I emailed requesting an update.

Rick Alexander and Kelly Alvord are great house designers who know how to take the client's design and execute them into plans for obtaining permits from the planning department. In our case, this is Eugene, Oregon, but they work with clients nationwide. We have worked with them on multiple occasions, and each time they have delivered with on time, with complete, professional results. They are available throughout the building process for consultation and/or the fleshing out of necessary details. The photos here are of a single family residence that covers 1597 heat sq ft and 2081 sq ft including 2-car attached garage.

Rick was absolutely phenomenal. He listened to my woes (I had hired someone else who spent $2,000 of my money NOT doing anything close to what I wanted). He asked for my graph paper design of the floor plan I wanted and my lot information. He looked it over and came back to me with a proposal, design issues because of lot issues, and possible solutions to solve the issues. I asked if we could do a combination of solutions, he felt it would work, and he came up with a design that was so close to my original, it was amazing. Then, because the house had grown, I had to cut down some square footage to keep it affordable. Rick's communication skills are awesome. He is a great listener and interpreter of my wants and needs for my floor plan. His work is impeccable and I will hire him again if needed. We're on the final phases of design right now just doing a bit of tweaking and I'm still happy. It did take a bit longer than I thought, but that was because I wanted changes. Since I'm not sure if I am allowed to post copies of the blueprints, I am not including a photo because I don't know how to isolate just the front elevation of the house. The building phase of the house won't be started for a few more months.

We consulted with Associated Designs, Inc. regarding a remodel to our home--specifically enlarging our existing laundry room. Our initial meeting with Rick was very helpful. We found him to be very professional. He listened to our concerns, wants and needs. He had several ideas that we hadn't even considered. It was most helpful to get his imput. We feel confident that when the project is finished, we will be very pleased. We were surprised at how quickly we were provided with a set of plans to consider. After we 'lived with' the plans, ask a few questions (which he was quick to respond to), we made a few "fine tuning" changes. The completed building plans were provided to us in a very short time. We would not hesitate using Associated Designs, Inc. in the future, and would highly recommend them to anyone.
