ordered a 9‑foot solid walnut pool table from Black Label Billiards through Houzz in early March, and after nearly two months of research and comparison, I’m impressed with the end result—though it wasn’t without a couple of bumps. What Worked Craftsmanship: The walnut finish is exactly as pictured, with tight, even grain and a flawless hand‑rubbed satin coat that brings out the natural warmth of the wood. Leather pockets arrived soft but reinforced, and the slate bed is dead‑flat—no crowns or valleys. Play Quality: The 18 mm three‑piece slate and 80/20 worsted wool felt deliver a true roll. Shots are predictable from every diamond, and cue‑ball control is excellent. Installation: The in‑home assembly crew was punctual and professional. They took care to level the table within 0.5 mm and left my basement cleaner than they found it.
